Holmlia is a neighborhood in Oslo, Norway with around 12,000 residents. It is located in the south-western part of Søndre Nordstrand, the southernmost borough in Oslo. The neighborhood is served by Holmlia Station on the Østfold Line, which has a travel time to Oslo S of about 13 minutes. The Holmlia Sportsklubb is located in Holmlia, which contains a football club currently in the Norwegian fourth division. Holmlia also boasts an extensive hiking trail network, which makes it possible to walk to most of the surrounding neighborhoods without ever crossing a single street. It also contains Oslo's only underground swimming pool, Holmlia Bad, located in the mountains near the middle school. The 25 m (82 ft) long pool is run by the city and offers saunas, a slide, and special bathing hours for children and women.Holmlia is a highly ethnically diverse part of the city of Oslo, with 47.7% of the population having a minority background. The average age of Holmlia's residents is very low. Children under the age of 19 make up 31.3% of the population, whereas only 3.2% are pensioners.Media said in 2016 that the employment rate is at 73% in Søndre Nordstrand - nine percent lower than the 82% employment in Norway.The neighborhood's name comes from the rail stop built in 1932. Holmlia Station was originally going to be called Holm Station, but the name was rejected since there was already a Holm on the Vestfold Line. The station was therefore named Holmlia, a combination of two local property names: the farm Holm and the torp Lia.

Situated 10.20 kilometers (6.34 mi) from Oslo Central Station (Oslo S), it features an island platform with two access superstructures. Holmlia is served by the L2, L2x and L21 lines of the Oslo Commuter Rail, providing three to five services per hour. The station opened in 1932. Development of the area started in the 1970s, resulting in an all-new station opening in 1982. Arne Henriksen designed its award-winning superstructure. Holmlia has since become among the country's busiest commuter stations, resulting in a northern accessway being built in 2012. Eight Ruter bus lines feed the station, including morning bus and two night buses.

Holmlia Church is a church center in the southeastern part of Oslo, Norway. The church is run by the Church of Norway, and is also used by the Roman Catholic St. Hallvard Parish for weekly Holy Masses on Sundays at 6PM.The church room has four pillars and glass roofs. The altar is made of light marble. The altarpiece, which represents the Lion of Judah and the lamb and the stained glass were created by Per Odd Aarrestad. Behind the altar is a glass pillar with a Christ figure. The baptismal font is in glazed brick and marble, designed by the architect 1993. The church organ from organ builder Ryde & Berg has 17 voices. The church building also contains offices, a parish hall and children's and youth rooms. The separate bell tower has 12 bells created at the Olsen Nauen Bell Foundry.

Rosenholm Station (Norwegian: Rosenholm holdeplass) is a railway station on the Østfold Line located in the Holmlia neighborhood in the Søndre Nordstrand borough of Oslo, Norway. Situated 11.35 kilometers (7.05 mi) from Oslo Central Station (Oslo S), it features two side platforms. Rosenholm is served by the L2 line of the Oslo Commuter Rail. It features a major park and ride parking lot, but does not have a significant population near by.

Ljan (Norwegian pronunciation: [jɑːn]) is a residential neighborhood in the borough Nordstrand in Oslo, Norway. It is located in the eastern rolling hillsides of the fjord Bunnefjorden. To the south Ljanselva which begins at Lutvann has its mouth, and where it runs through Liadalen at Ljan it also constitutes the border with borough Søndre Nordstrand. The number of inhabitants was about 3,500 in 2004. Ljan Church is known as one of the very few churches in Norway that was built in the 1930s in the Romanesque Revival style. The public beaches at Ljan are Hvervenbukta, Ljansbadet and Katten, and in addition there are a number of private bath houses along Mosseveien. The borders to the north and east are less obvious and drawn between the school circuits Ljan and Nordstrand. The name originates with an Old Norse river name Ljǫrn but the meaning has been lost to time.

Ljan Church (Norwegian: Ljan kirke) is a parish church of the Church of Norway in the district of Nordstrand in Oslo, Norway. The church was consecrated on 10 April 1932 and is shrouded by pine trees on a hill. Later a parish center was built just below. The architectural style is neo-Romanesque and medieval inspired. There are no signs of modernism. The architect was Olav Olson (1879-1945).It is a relatively small church in stone. The church tower is at the entrance. The choir is narrow. It has two sacristies. The roof is covered with copper plates. Sculptor Trygve Dammen (1900-1973) made the pulpit and baptismal font, a wooden sculpture and created wooden sculptures under the ceiling. There are stained glass in all the windows, composed by artist Rolf Klemetsrud (1900-1956). Wrought Iron works in windows and altar ring is by Karl Bilgrei (1898-1990). The crucifix over the main entrance is made by Halfdan Davidsen. The two church bells are made by Olsen Nauen Bell Foundry in Tønsberg.Ljan Church is listed as protected by the Norwegian Directorate for Cultural Heritage.

Hauketo Station (Norwegian: Hauketo Stasjon) is a railway station on the Østfold Line. It is located in the Hauketo neighborhood in the Søndre Nordstrand borough of Oslo, Norway. Situated 8.68 kilometers (5.39 mi) from Oslo Central Station (Oslo S), it features two side platforms. Hauketo is served by the Line L2 of the Oslo Commuter Rail, providing two to four services each hour. The station opened on 15 February 1925, after the Østfold Line had been moved to avoid the Ljan Viaduct. Its original wooden station building is now a pizzeria. The station has been unmanned since 1980. Eight Ruter bus lines feed the station.

Kolbotn is an urban area in Norway's Nordre Follo county. Kolbotn is in the centre of the traditional district, Oppegård. The population is about 6,000. Kolbotn has several elementary schools, four middle schools and a high school. Town is located at the end of Kolbotnvannet, a lake. Buildings include Stabburet, [the area's oldest building,] from the 18th century.

Hauketo is a neighborhood in the borough of Søndre Nordstrand in Oslo, Norway. It is mainly a residential area with detached housing as well as larger blocks. It is served by the Østfold Line station Hauketo. It is located south of Ljabru, east of Sloreåsen, west of Mortensrud and north of Holmlia and Prinsdal.

Kolbotn is a railway station located at Kolbotn in Oppegård, Norway. Located 12 km from Oslo S on the Østfold Line, it is served by commuter trains operated by Vy.As part of the new high-speed the Follo Line between Oslo and Ski, was previously considered as an intermediate station.

Hvervenbukta is a swimming and recreation area southeast of the city center of Oslo, Norway, located at the shores of Bunnefjorden in the borough of Søndre Nordstrand, and not far from Ljan and Holmlia. The area originally belonged to Ljan mansion. The main building here was from 1765, and burned down in 1913. Former Aker municipality took over the properties in 1937. Some of the remaining buildings in the area is now used by artists and artisans. The site has one of Oslo's most popular beaches, with swimming opportunities along the sandy beach and from the rocks along the fjord. The bathing area in Hvervenbukta has a terrace café and kiosk, toilets and outhouse, picnic tables, showers and drinking-water units. The place is usable for disabled and has a lifeguard during the summer months.In Hvervenbukta there is also a campsite.
