Benbush is an unincorporated community and coal town in Tucker County, West Virginia, United States. Benbush is located to the northwest of Thomas along West Virginia Secondary Route 18. The community derives its name from Benjamin Bush, a businessperson in the coal mining industry.

William is an unincorporated community in the Monongahela National Forest in Tucker County, West Virginia, United States. William lies south of Fairfax and the Fairfax Stone and north of Thomas. The community is at the intersection of U.S. Route 219 and West Virginia Route 90. The Board on Geographic Names officially decided upon William as the town's name in 1895, changing it from Helms. The community most likely was named after William Davis, a pioneer settler.

Fairfax Stone Historical Monument State Park is a West Virginia state park commemorating the Fairfax Stone, a surveyor's marker and boundary stone at the source of the North Branch of the Potomac River. The original stone was placed on October 23, 1746 to settle a boundary dispute between Thomas Fairfax, 6th Lord Fairfax of Cameron and the Privy Council of Great Britain concerning the Northern Neck of Virginia. It determined the proprietorship and boundaries of a large tract of mostly unsurveyed land in the British colonies of Maryland and Virginia.

Coketon is an unincorporated community and coal town in Tucker County, West Virginia, United States. Coketon lies at the confluence of Snyder Run and the North Fork Blackwater River, south of the town of Thomas.

Backbone Mountain is a ridge of the Allegheny Mountains of the central Appalachian Mountain Range. It is situated in the U.S. states of West Virginia and Maryland and forms a portion of the Eastern Continental Divide. Within the state of Maryland, Backbone Mountain reaches an elevation of 3,360 feet or 1,024 metres, making it Maryland's highest point.

The Thomas Commercial Historic District is a national historic district located at Thomas, Tucker County, West Virginia. It encompasses 48 contributing buildings and two contributing structures. They include the business and commercial core of Thomas. Most of the buildings in the district date from the late-19th and early-20th century in popular architectural styles, such as Italianate, Renaissance Revival, and Gothic Revival. They are primarily two and three story masonry buildings with storefronts on the first floor and housing above. Notable buildings include the Frank Calobrese Building (1902), Duncan Funeral Home Building (1899), Miners and Merchant Bank (1902), City Hall (1927), and Thomas Central Power Plant Dam (1911). Also located in the district is the separately listed Cottrill Opera House (1902). It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1998.

Cottrill's Opera House, known since 1915 as Sutton's Opera House or Sutton Theater, is a historic vaudeville and movie theater building in Thomas, Tucker County, West Virginia. It was built in 1902 and is a rectangular brick building with a high front that appears to be four stories tall. The interior is dominated by a large auditorium with balcony seating. The building is being restored for use as a live performance theater. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1979.

Davis Coal and Coke Company Administrative Building, also known as Western Maryland Railway Engineering Building and Old Western Maryland Railroad Office, is a historic office building located at Thomas, Tucker County, West Virginia. It was built in 1900 and expanded about in 1903, and is a two-story, red brick office building. The rectangular plan building measures approximately 40 feet by 70 feet. It has a hipped roof with secondary dormer windows. It served as the "field operating office" or "mining headquarters" for Davis Coal and Coke Company from 1900 to 1950. It was then used by Western Maryland Railway until closing in 1982. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2011.

Tucker County High School is a secondary school located in Hambleton, West Virginia, with approximately 300 students. It is located at 116 Mountain Lion Way, and serves all of Tucker County. The current principal is Alex Cork.
