Peterborough Power Station is a 360MW gas-fired power station at Eastern Industry, Fengate in the city of Peterborough, Cambridgeshire in the United Kingdom. It employs around forty people. The power station was commissioned in December 1993 with construction starting in January 1991. It is currently owned by Whitetower Holdings UK Limited, an affiliate of Rockland Capital, LP after a £20M agreement was made with Centrica Energy officially owned by Centrica PB Ltd. Peterborough Power Ltd, the station's original operating name, was bought by Centrica Plc from Dallas-based TXU Corp. in October 2001. Centrica was created in 1997 when British Gas Plc demerged into Centrica Plc and BG Group Plc; it owns the rights to the British Gas name for use in the domestic market. A previous coal-fired power station in Peterborough was located on the north side of the river, on the site of what is now the Rivergate shopping centre. Demolished in the mid 1980s, all that remains is its substation on the other side of the river, directly south from the power station's former site.

Part of a Bronze Age settlement was uncovered at Must Farm quarry, at Whittlesey, near Peterborough, in Cambridgeshire, England. The site has been described as "Britain's Pompeii" due to its relatively good condition, including the "best-preserved Bronze Age dwellings ever found" there, which all appear to have been abandoned suddenly following a catastrophic fire. Research now suggests that the site was less than one year old at the time of destruction.The site is on the bed of a now-defunct river in Flag Fen basin, around 2 kilometres (1.2 mi) south of Flag Fen itself. Must Farm was named Best Archaeological Project and Best Archaeological Discovery at the 2012 British Archaeological Awards, and Best Discovery at the 2016 Awards. An article describing the settlement won the Antiquity Prize 2020.

Newark was a hamlet of the parish of Saint Mary the Virgin in the Soke of Peterborough in the United Kingdom. One mile and a half (2.4 km) north-east-by-east from the city centre; a portion was incorporated with the municipal borough in 1874. The remainder formed part of Peterborough Rural District from 1894 until 1926 when the city's boundaries were extended to include the civil parish of Peterborough Without.

Stanground North is an unparished area in the Peterborough district, in the ceremonial county of Cambridgeshire, England. The 2001 census recorded a population of zero. The parish, which covered open fields on a flood plain of the River Nene.

Parnwell is residential area of the city of Peterborough, in the Peterborough district, in the ceremonial county of Cambridgeshire, England. For electoral purposes, it forms part of the east ward. Development in Parnwell began in the early 1990s, mostly built as council housing and flats.Parnwell County Primary School is located in the area; following the closure of nearby Hereward Community College in July 2007, secondary pupils attend the flagship Thomas Deacon Academy which opened in September 2007.

Eye is a village in the unitary authority area of Peterborough, in the ceremonial county of Cambridgeshire, England. The village is 4.5 miles (7 km) south from Crowland. The hamlet of Eye Green is 1⁄2 mile (800 m) to the north, separated by the A47 trunk road.

Fengate is a predominantly industrial area of the city of Peterborough, in the Peterborough district, in the ceremonial county of Cambridgeshire, England. For electoral purposes it forms part of Peterborough East ward. The industrial estate is known as Eastern Industry. Peterborough Power Station is located here. Flag Fen, the Bronze Age archaeological site, was discovered here in 1982 when a team led by Dr. Francis Pryor carried out a survey of dykes in the area. Probably religious, it comprises many poles arranged in five long rows, connecting Whittlesey with Peterborough across the wet fenland. This structure has been compared in rarity and importance to the Balbridie site in Aberdeenshire. The museum exhibits many of the artefacts found, including what is believed to be the oldest wheel in Britain. An exposed section of the Roman road known as the Fen Causeway also crosses the site.

Stanground Wash is a 26 hectare nature reserve in Stanground, a suburb of Peterborough in Cambridgeshire. It is managed by the Wildlife Trust for Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Northamptonshire.The site is sandwiched between the railway, Ely-Peterborough line and Back River, a tributary of the River Nene. It is grassland which is flooded in winter, providing a refuge for waterbirds, and is grazed in the summer. It has a variety of birds such as snipe, redshanks and sandpipers, and ditches with rare beetles.There is access by a footpath from North Street along the south bank of the river to a footbridge, but there is a locked gate 100 yards before the bridge.

Peterborough Greyhound Stadium was a greyhound racing track located in Fengate, less than a mile from the centre of Peterborough, England.Racing at the stadium took place every Wednesday, Friday and Saturday night with racing starting at 7:30 pm.On Tuesday 19 May 2020, the stadium announced that it would cease trading with immediate effect after 75 years.

Eastfield is a residential area of the city of Peterborough, in the Peterborough district, in the ceremonial county of Cambridgeshire, England. For electoral purposes it comprises part of Peterborough East ward, together with Fengate and Parnwell. In 2001 it had a resident population of 8,424. Of a total 3,824 households, 52.88% are owner occupied, compared to 66.30% in the Peterborough unitary authority area.

Stanground is a residential area of Peterborough in the unparished area of Old Fletton, in the Peterborough district, in the ceremonial county of Cambridgeshire, England. For electoral purposes it comprises Stanground South and Fletton & Stanground wards in North West Cambridgeshire constituency.

St John Fisher Catholic High School, formerly known as St. John Fisher RC Comprehensive School, is situated in the city of Peterborough, England, and is the only Catholic school in Cambridgeshire. The school moved back onto the Park Lane site and was reopened on 25 February 2009.
