Graceham, Maryland

Graceham Moravian Church and Parsonage is a historic church building and parsonage located at 8231 Rocky Ridge Road, MD 77 in Graceham, east of Thurmont, Frederick County, Maryland. It is a two-story Flemish bond brick church built in 1822, and covered with white stucco because of deteriorated masonry. The church was built as an addition to the adjacent meeting house and parsonage built in 1797. This building and the church's cemetery having uniform flat gravestones (called God's Acre by the Moravians) represents Maryland's only remaining 18th century Moravian settlement.

The Roddy Road Covered Bridge is a small, one lane king post wooden covered bridge near Thurmont, Frederick County, Maryland. It crosses Owen's Creek near Thurmont. It is 40 feet long, 16 feet wide, with a 12 foot-8 inch clearance. It was built between 1850 and 1860. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1978.

Thurmont is a town in Frederick County, Maryland, United States. The population was 6,935 at the 2020 census. The town is located in the northern part of Frederick County (north of Frederick, the county seat), approximately ten miles from the Pennsylvania border, along U.S. Highway 15. It is very close to Cunningham Falls State Park and Catoctin Mountain Park, the latter of which contains the presidential retreat of Camp David. Thurmont is also home to Catoctin Colorfest, an arts and crafts festival that draws in about 125,000 people each autumn. In 2005, Thurmont was designated as a Maryland Main Street Community, and in that year was designated a National Main Street under the National Trust for Historic Preservation.

The Loys Station Covered Bridge is a multiple king post wooden covered bridge near Thurmont, Maryland. The bridge was burned by an arsonist in 1991 and rebuilt using surviving framing. The original bridge spanned 90 feet in one span, but has since been modified with a pier at the middle of the span. The bridge crosses Owen's Creek and is surrounded by a park.

Catoctin is an American Viticultural Area (AVA) located in Frederick and Washington counties of western Maryland. "Catoctin" is Algonquian word translated, cf. Ojibwa gidagasin: "speckled rock", "flecked rock" or "spotted rock," a geological stone which abounds in the Catoctin Mountain. The area was established as the state's 2nd and the nation's 45th AVA on October 12, 1983 by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (ATF), Treasury after reviewing the petition submitted by W. Bret Byrd, proprietor of the bonded Byrd Vineyards & Winery, on behalf of himself and local vintners proposing a viticultural area known as "Catoctin." The 169,600 acres (265 sq mi) viticultural area lies a few miles west of the town of Frederick in western Maryland consisting of a large intermountain valley and upland areas immediately surrounding the valley. The eastern and western boundaries are distinguished by the Catoctin Mountain and South Mountain, respectively. The northern and southern boundaries are defined by the Maryland-Pennsylvania State line and the Potomac River. At the outset, there were approximately 84.5 acres (34 ha) under vine for commercial purposes. The acreage devoted to grape-growing is widely dispersed. In 1980, approximately 31.5% of the total commercial grape acreage in Maryland was planted in its Blue Ridge region of Catoctin. In addition, scattered throughout, are many small vineyards, generally under an acre, which are used by the owners for private purposes. There was one bonded winery, operated by the petitioner, with a 30 acres (12 ha) vineyard and six (6) commercial vineyard operations. Currently, about seven commercial wineries operate in the AVA where the hardiness zones are 7a and 6b.

Creagerstown is an unincorporated community in Frederick County, Maryland, United States. It is playfully known by its residents as "4 miles from everywhere" because of its situation at 4 miles (6.4 km) from Thurmont, Woodsboro, Rocky Ridge, and Lewistown.The town consists of about 40 buildings, including three churches and a small school building. A number of the buildings in the town can be classified as historical and the ruins of older buildings can also be found.Creagerstown is additionally the home to both Creagerstown Park and Creagerstown Cemetery. Maryland Route 550 passes through Creagerstown on its way towards Loys Station in the form of Creagerstown Road.

The St. John's Church at Creagerstown Historic District is a national historic district located at Creagerstown, Frederick County, Maryland The district encompasses four contributing buildings and one contributing site, namely: Creagerstown School Number 2, now the parish house for St. John's Church (1880) and concrete block privy / shed (c. 1930) St. John's Reformed Church (now vacant) (1834) St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church (1908) Creagerstown CemeteryThe St. John's Church at Creagerstown Historic District was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2007.

The Old Mill Road Bridge is a historic bridge near Rocky Ridge, Frederick County, Maryland, United States. The bridge spans Owens Creek southwest of Rocky Ridge on Old Mill Road. It is a Pratt half-hip through truss structure in a single span 69 feet (21 m) long and 16 feet (4.9 m). It was built in 1882 by the Pittsburgh Bridge Company, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.The Old Mill Road Bridge was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1979.

Camp Airy is a Jewish sleep away summer camp located in Thurmont, Maryland at the edge of the Catoctin Mountain Park. Boys between the ages of 7 and 17 attend for one to seven weeks, depending on their age and interest. Airy is a fully accredited member of the American Camp Association. Camp Airy is the brother camp to Camp Louise.

Strawberry Hill is a Georgian style farmhouse near Thurmont, Frederick County, Maryland, built in 1783. The house is substantially similar in plan to nearby Pennterra, but lacks Pennterra's later Victorian additions. The locally quarried stone includes an unusual diamond pattern on the southeast side of the house.Strawberry Hill was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1976.

The Catoctin Wildlife Preserve is a 100-acre (40 ha) zoo and wildlife preserve (25 acres (10 ha) are accessible to the public) located on Maryland Route 806 in Thurmont, Maryland, United States. The preserve features safari truck rides that let visitors touch and feed large herbivores in a wooded setting.
