Catoctin High School (CHS) is a four-year public high school in Thurmont, Frederick County, Maryland, United States.

Camp Airy is a Jewish sleep away summer camp located in Thurmont, Maryland at the edge of the Catoctin Mountain Park. Boys between the ages of 7 and 17 attend for one to seven weeks, depending on their age and interest. Airy is a fully accredited member of the American Camp Association. Camp Airy is the brother camp to Camp Louise.

The Roddy Road Covered Bridge is a small, one lane king post wooden covered bridge near Thurmont, Frederick County, Maryland. It crosses Owen's Creek near Thurmont. It is 40 feet long, 16 feet wide, with a 12 foot-8 inch clearance. It was built between 1850 and 1860. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1978.

Catoctin is an American Viticultural Area (AVA) located in Frederick and Washington counties of western Maryland. "Catoctin" is Algonquian word translated, cf. Ojibwa gidagasin: "speckled rock", "flecked rock" or "spotted rock," a geological stone which abounds in the Catoctin Mountain. The area was established as the state's 2nd and the nation's 45th AVA on October 12, 1983 by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (ATF), Treasury after reviewing the petition submitted by W. Bret Byrd, proprietor of the bonded Byrd Vineyards & Winery, on behalf of himself and local vintners proposing a viticultural area known as "Catoctin." The 169,600 acres (265 sq mi) viticultural area lies a few miles west of the town of Frederick in western Maryland consisting of a large intermountain valley and upland areas immediately surrounding the valley. The eastern and western boundaries are distinguished by the Catoctin Mountain and South Mountain, respectively. The northern and southern boundaries are defined by the Maryland-Pennsylvania State line and the Potomac River. At the outset, there were approximately 84.5 acres (34 ha) under vine for commercial purposes. The acreage devoted to grape-growing is widely dispersed. In 1980, approximately 31.5% of the total commercial grape acreage in Maryland was planted in its Blue Ridge region of Catoctin. In addition, scattered throughout, are many small vineyards, generally under an acre, which are used by the owners for private purposes. There was one bonded winery, operated by the petitioner, with a 30 acres (12 ha) vineyard and six (6) commercial vineyard operations. Currently, about seven commercial wineries operate in the AVA where the hardiness zones are 7a and 6b.

Graceham is an unincorporated community and a census-designated place (CDP) in Frederick County, Maryland, United States. Graceham is home to Graceham Moravian Church and Parsonage. Per the 2020 Census, the population was 243.

Graceham Moravian Church and Parsonage is a historic church building and parsonage located at 8231 Rocky Ridge Road, MD 77 in Graceham, east of Thurmont, Frederick County, Maryland. It is a two-story Flemish bond brick church built in 1822, and covered with white stucco because of deteriorated masonry. The church was built as an addition to the adjacent meeting house and parsonage built in 1797. This building and the church's cemetery having uniform flat gravestones (called God's Acre by the Moravians) represents Maryland's only remaining 18th century Moravian settlement.

The Catoctin Wildlife Preserve is a 100-acre (40 ha) zoo and wildlife preserve (25 acres (10 ha) are accessible to the public) located on Maryland Route 806 in Thurmont, Maryland, United States. The preserve features safari truck rides that let visitors touch and feed large herbivores in a wooded setting.

Catoctin Mountain Park is a park located in part of the Monocacy Valley and Catoctin Mountain ridge−range that forms the northeastern rampart of the Blue Ridge Mountains, in the Appalachian Mountains System. The park is approximately 5120 acres or 8 square miles (21 km2) in area. Catoctin Mountain Park is managed by the National Park Service, and lies north of and directly adjacent to the similarly sized Cunningham Falls State Park.

Camp Misty Mount is located in Catoctin Mountain Park near Thurmont, Maryland. The camp was built by the Works Progress Administration labor program in the development of what was then known as the Catoctin Mountain Recreational Development Area, and comprises 35 rustic log buildings including sleeping cabins, administrative buildings and lodges. All were built between 1935 and 1938. The buildings are a simplified version of the National Park Service Rustic style. Misty Mount is used as a public cabin-camping facility. Misty Mount is also known as Camp 1: Camp 2 is Camp Greentop and Camp 3, originally called Camp Hi-Catoctin and located at a much higher elevation, became Camp David. Camp Misty Mount Historic District was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1989.

Catoctin Furnace is an unincorporated community located on Route 15 between Frederick and Thurmont in the northern part of Frederick County, Maryland, United States. It is the site of the Catoctin Furnace Historic District.

Catoctin Furnace (also known as Catoctin Iron Furnace) is an historic iron forge located on Route 15 between Frederick and Thurmont in Catoctin Furnace, Maryland. Since it was closed in 1903, no forge has been at the site.

Trout Run is a property in the Catoctin Mountains near Thurmont, Maryland, that was visited on several occasions by Presidents Herbert Hoover, Franklin Delano Roosevelt and Dwight Eisenhower. Originally called Catoctin Lodge, it is located about 4 mi (6.4 km) away from the presidential retreat at Camp David and was established by one of Hoover's senior aides. It subsequently became the property of the family of a senior State Department official, who owned it for nearly 70 years, before it was acquired in 2013 by an arm of the Church of Scientology. It became the focus of controversy in 2015 when the controversial Narconon drug rehabilitation program, an offshoot of Scientology, sought to turn it into a facility for treating drug addicts despite considerable local opposition.
