Ojai Valley School

Upper Ojai ( ) is a rural valley with several unincorporated communities in Ventura County, California.It is located east of city of Ojai on State Route 150 (Ojai−Santa Paula Road), between Ojai and Santa Paula. Upper Ojai is at an elevation of 800 feet (240 m) above Ojai, thereby getting its name. It is home to the Besant Hill School, a private boarding school for grades 9 to 12; and the Topa Institute retreat center.

The Thacher School Historic District is a historic district in Ventura County, California, in an unincorporated portion of the Ojai Valley. The Thacher School is one of the earliest private boarding schools in California. The district includes 60 resources, of which 38 are contributors to the district, which was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2019. The California State Historical Resources Commission recommended the nomination for federal historic designation in August 2018.The buildings included within the historic district are in the school campus's central core, together with two outlying areas to the northwest and southeast that have been dedicated to equestrian uses.

The Thacher School is a private co-educational boarding school on 427 acres in Ojai, California. Founded in 1889 as a boys' school, it is now the oldest co-educational boarding school in California. Girls were first admitted in 1977, with the first co-ed graduating class being the class of 1978. Unique to Thacher are its Horse and Outdoors Programs. Its founder, Sherman Day Thacher, believed in the power of the outdoors to help shape students: “Come West, breathe deep, let these hills be your teachers.”

Besant Hill School of Happy Valley, formerly the Happy Valley School, is an American private, coeducational boarding school and day school in Ojai, California. Notable subjects are environmental science and sustainability program coupled with a working garden/farm on campus. The school has approximately 100 students and about 35 faculty and staff, all of whom live on or near campus. There were 13 states and 22 countries represented in the 2017-2018 student body

The Ojai Playwrights Conference is a new play development program based in Ojai, California. The mission of the organization is to develop unproduced plays of artistic excellence that focus on the compelling social, political and cultural issues of our era from diverse playwrights both emerging and established, and to nurture a new generation of playwrights and theatre artists.

KMRO (90.3 FM) is a non-commercial radio station licensed to Camarillo, California and broadcasting to the areas of Ventura County and southern Santa Barbara County, California. The station is owned by The Association For Community Education, Inc. and airs a Spanish-language Christian talk and teaching format. It is the flagship station of the religious radio network Radio Nueva Vida. In addition to its extensive network of translator stations, KMRO is simulcast on two full-power repeaters in California: KEYQ (980 AM) in Fresno and KGZO (90.9 FM) in Shafter.

Camp Bartlett is a small, isolated, rural unincorporated community in Upper Ojai, Ventura County, California, United States. Six of the twelve cabins in the community, located east of the city of Ojai, burned down in the Thomas Fire in 2017.John Bartlett was an early owner of Rancho Ojai which he bought from Juan Camarillo in 1864. He subdivided the grant lands, selling one third to John B. Church, and the remaining two thirds to John Wyeth in 1865.

Thomas Aquinas College is a private Catholic liberal arts college with its main campus in Ventura County, California. A second campus opened in Northfield, Massachusetts in 2018. Its education is based on the Great Books, and students are instructed via the seminar method. It is accredited by the WASC Senior College and University Commission.

The Ojai Music Festival is an annual classical music festival in the United States. Held in Ojai, California (75 miles northwest of Los Angeles), for four days every June, the festival presents music, symposia, and educational programs emphasizing adventurous, eclectic, and challenging music, principally by contemporary composers. A secondary focus of the Festival is the discovery or rediscovery of rare or little known works by past masters. The primary performance venue is the Libbey Bowl, an open-air setting not far from the center of Ojai.

Ojai ( OH-hy; Chumash: ’Awhaỳ) is a city in Ventura County, California. Located in the Ojai Valley, it is northwest of Los Angeles and east of Santa Barbara. The valley is part of the east–west trending Western Transverse Ranges and is about 10 miles (16 km) long by 3 miles (5 km) wide and divided into a lower and an upper valley, each of similar size, surrounded by hills and mountains. The population was 7,637 at the 2020 census, up from 7,461 at the 2010 census. Ojai is known for its boutique hotels, recreation opportunities, hiking, and farmers' market of local organic agriculture. It has small businesses specializing in local and ecologically friendly art, design, and home improvement. Chain stores are prohibited by city ordinance to encourage local small business development and retain the town's character. The name Ojai is derived from the Mexican-era Rancho Ojai, which in turn took its name from the Ventureño Chumash word 'Awha'y, meaning "Moon". The city's self-styled nickname is "Shangri-La" referencing the natural environment of this health and spirituality-focused region as well as the mystical sanctuary of the 1937 film adaptation of James Hilton's novel Lost Horizon.
