The Thacher School

The Thacher School Historic District is a historic district in Ventura County, California, in an unincorporated portion of the Ojai Valley. The Thacher School is one of the earliest private boarding schools in California. The district includes 60 resources, of which 38 are contributors to the district, which was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2019. The California State Historical Resources Commission recommended the nomination for federal historic designation in August 2018.The buildings included within the historic district are in the school campus's central core, together with two outlying areas to the northwest and southeast that have been dedicated to equestrian uses.

Notable subjects are environmental science and sustainability program coupled with a working garden/farm on campus. Upper Ojai ( ) is a rural valley with several unincorporated communities in Ventura County, California.It is located east of city of Ojai on State Route 150 (Ojai−Santa Paula Road), between Ojai and Santa Paula. Upper Ojai is at an elevation of 800 feet (240 m) above Ojai, thereby getting its name. The Ojai Music Festival is an annual classical music festival in the United States. Held in Ojai, California (75 miles northwest of Los Angeles), for four days every June, the festival presents music, symposia, and educational programs emphasizing adventurous, eclectic, and challenging music, principally by contemporary composers. A secondary focus of the Festival is the discovery or rediscovery of rare or little known works by past masters. The primary performance venue is the Libbey Bowl, an open-air setting not far from the center of Ojai.

Ojai ( OH-hy; Chumash: ’Awhaỳ) is a city in Ventura County, California. Located in the Ojai Valley, it is northwest of Los Angeles and east of Santa Barbara. The valley is part of the east–west trending Western Transverse Ranges and is about 10 miles (16 km) long by 3 miles (5 km) wide and divided into a lower and an upper valley, each of similar size, surrounded by hills and mountains. The population was 7,637 at the 2020 census, up from 7,461 at the 2010 census. Ojai is known for its boutique hotels, recreation opportunities, hiking, and farmers' market of local organic agriculture. It has small businesses specializing in local and ecologically friendly art, design, and home improvement. Chain stores are prohibited by city ordinance to encourage local small business development and retain the town's character. The name Ojai is derived from the Mexican-era Rancho Ojai, which in turn took its name from the Ventureño Chumash word 'Awha'y, meaning "Moon". The city's self-styled nickname is "Shangri-La" referencing the natural environment of this health and spirituality-focused region as well as the mystical sanctuary of the 1937 film adaptation of James Hilton's novel Lost Horizon.

Bart's Books is a bookstore in Ojai, California. It was founded by Richard Bartindale in 1964. In the outdoor section, shelves of books face the street, and patrons are asked to drop coins into the door's coin box to pay for any books they take whenever the store is closed. Bart's Books has been featured in the 2010 movie Easy A and novels.

The Moore House is a residential home in Ojai, California designed by Modernist architect Richard Neutra in 1952 .Neutra received the AIA First Honor Award for the building's design in 1954.

Rancho Ojai was a 17,717-acre (71.70 km2) Mexican land grant in present-day Ventura County, California given in 1837 by Governor Juan Alvarado to Fernando Tico. Rancho Ojai is located on the east side of the upper Ventura River, across from the Rancho Santa Ana grant made in the same year. The grant encompassed present-day city of Ojai, at the foot of the Topatopa Mountains.
