Masnago

The Castello di Masnago is a castle, now a civic art museum, located atop a hill on Via Cola di Rienzo number 42 in Mantegazza Park in the quartiere of Masnago of the town of Varese, region of Lombardy, Italy. The oldest part of the castle is an 11th-century crenellated tower, much rebuilt over the centuries. On the ground floor, there is a frescoed room, the Sala degli Svaghi, and in the first floor two exhibition rooms – Sala dei Vizi and delle Virtù. Some of the latter frescoes pertain to the 15th-century school of Bonifacio Bembo. The art museum has works by the Procaccini family, del Pier Francesco Mazzucchelli (commonly Morazzone e di Pietro Antonio Magatti, among more modern artists are Innocente Salvini, Enrico Bay, and Renato Guttuso.The Castello di Masnago stands on the top of a large lawn.

Casciago is a comune (municipality) in the Province of Varese in the Italian region Lombardy, located about 50 kilometres (31 mi) northwest of Milan and about 4 kilometres (2 mi) west of Varese. As of 1 December 2021, it had a population of 3.613 and an area of 4.0 square kilometres (1.5 sq mi).Casciago borders the following municipalities: Barasso, Gavirate, Luvinate, Varese. Casciago could very well be the location of the ancient Cassiciacum, where Saint Augustine and a few friends lived together in a kind of philosophical commune after Augustine's conversion to Christianity.

The Statal Institute of Higher Education Isaac Newton (Italian: Istituto Statale di Istruzione Superiore Isaac Newton) is an Italian secondary school in the city of Varese. It is a technical-professional school. It assumed the current name in 2007, with the union of the Technical Industrial School of Varese (ITIS) and the Professional Institute of State for Industry and Handicrafts of Varese (IPSIA). It is located in Casbeno, in Via Gianluigi Zucchi.

Casbeno (Lombard: Casben) is a neighborhood of the city of Varese. Located in the south of the city, overlooking Lake Varese, before the formation of the province of Varese, in the twenties, was the lower limit of the town itself. Initially rural fraction of the city, sees since the sixties a period of growth, which continues to this day: Casbeno currently has about 4,000 inhabitants, called Casbenàt in Lombard language. Despite the limited area, Casbeno is home of several administrative offices: around Piazzale Libertà there is the provincial police headquarters (Questura di Varese) and the official headquarters of the Province. The prefect and the Province of Varese, located at Villa Recalcati, with the adjoining park are an example of the '800 architecture. Artistically relevant to Casbeno are also the parish church of San Vittore and the sanctuary of Schirannetta (first construction dates back to 1200), carefully restored in the 60's by Giovanni Macchi, after the neglect of the past centuries had reduced in conditions of ruin. The architect Simone Cantoni built instead neoclassical Villa Recalcati in 1778. In the neighbourhood, there is the station of Varese Casbeno, on the railway Milan-Saronno-Laveno.

Villa Recalcati is a Baroque palace in Varese, in the neighborhood Casbeno, in Italy. It is the headquarter of the Province of Varese and one of the two locations of the Prefecture of Varese. Villa Recalcati was built in the first half of the eighteenth century next to an existing structure by Marquis Milanese Gabrio Recalcati, heir to an ancient lineage which was also part of Francesco Recalcati, Secretary of Ludovico il Moro. Antonio Luigi Recalcati commissioned an enlargement of the structure between 1756 and 1776. The villa's illustrious guests included composer Giuseppe Verdi. At the beginning of the 20th century, the villa and its grounds were purchased by Giacomo Limido, Gerolamo Garoni, and Eugenio Maroni Biroldi that transformed the building in the Varese's Grand Hotel Excelsior. Varese in 1927 became the capital of the Province and in 1931 the provincial institution bought the entire building.

It is located on the Saronno–Laveno railway. The station is currently managed by Ferrovienord (FN). Train services are operated by the lombard railway company Trenord.

Luvinate is a comune (municipality) in the Province of Varese in the Italian region Lombardy, located about 50 kilometres (31 mi) northwest of Milan and about 5 kilometres (3 mi) northwest of Varese. As of 31 December 2004, it had a population of 1,389 and an area of 4.2 square kilometres (1.6 sq mi).Luvinate borders the following municipalities: Barasso, Casciago, Castello Cabiaglio, Varese.

Barasso (Lombard: Barass, Varesino dialect Baràs) is a town and comune located in the province of Varese in the Lombardy region of northern Italy. Barasso has a population of 1657 people (based on December 2020 data). In the fourth century, Emperor Theodosius I commissioned S.Giulio to build a church there.

The Sacro Monte di Varese (literally 'Sacred Mount of Varese') is one of the nine sacri monti in the Italian regions of Lombardy and Piedmont which were inscribed on the UNESCO list of World Heritage Sites in 2003. It has an altitude of 807 metres above sea level.

The Vellone–Sacro Monte funicular (Italian: Funicolare Vellone-Sacro Monte) is a funicular railway in the town of Varese in the Italian region of Lombardy. It connects the valley of the Vellone river with the village and sanctuary of Sacro Monte di Varese.The line first opened in May 1909, and remained in service until August 1953. Service was first reinstated in July 2000, before being suspended in 2003 and reinstated in 2005. It shared its lower station with the Vellone–Campo dei Fiori funicular until both lines closed in 1953. The Campo dei Fiori line never reopened.The funicular is operated by the Azienda Varesina Trasporti, and has the following technical parameters:
