Flône Abbey

Amay (French pronunciation: ​[amɛ]; Walloon: Ama) is a municipality of Wallonia located in the province of Liège, Belgium. On 1 January 2006 Amay had a total population of approximately 14,231. The total area is 27.61 km2 which gives a population density of approximately 476 inhabitants per km2. It owes its site to a ford of the Meuse that was still in use in the Middle Ages but had begun as a Gallo-Roman vicus of the civitas Tungrorum (Tongeren). The municipality consists of the following districts: Amay, Ampsin, Flône, Jehay, and Ombret-Rawsa.

Jehay Castle or Jehay-Bodegnée Castle (French: Château de Jehay or Jehay-Bodegnée) is a castle situated in the municipality of Amay in Liège Province, Wallonia, Belgium.

The "ferme castrale" of Hermalle-sous-Huy, located near the Meuse between Huy and Liège in Belgium, is the old farm of the castle of Hermalle and dates from 1642. Since the 1990s it has become a center of culture and tourism based on food and drink history.

The Gourmet Museum and Library (French: Bibliothèque et musée de la Gourmandise) is a museum dedicated to the history of gastronomy, located in Hermalle-sous-Huy, province of Liège, Belgium.

Castle of Warfusée is a castle located in the municipality Saint-Georges-sur-Meuse, Wallonia, near Liège, in Belgium. One of the loveliest castles in the area, Warfusée was completed in 1754 as a replacement for an earlier Renaissance structure. The castle served as a summer residence for Charles-Nicolas d'Oultremont, Prince-Bishop of Liège from 1763 to 1771, brother of the proprietor. To this day it still is the main residence of the Earls of d'Outremont. Access to the yard is via a gate under a tower with a steeple. The main building is flanked by two lower wings marking the boundaries of a vast yard. The rich interior has remained pretty much as it was at the time of building. The interior is truly exceptional; many talented artists were called upon: stuccos in the chapel, the superb entrance hall paved with marble with its beautiful staircase, the various drawing rooms with tapestry, the dining room with walls decorated with hand-painted engravings, and the huge library. The house is open to the public upon request for groups only.

Saint-Georges-sur-Meuse (French pronunciation: ​[sɛ̃ ʒɔʁʒ syʁ møz], literally Saint-Georges on Meuse; Walloon: Sint-Djôr-so-Mouze) is a municipality of Wallonia located in the province of Liège, Belgium. On January 1, 2006, Saint-Georges-sur-Meuse had a total population of 6,613. The total area is 20.90 km2 which gives a population density of 316 inhabitants per km2. The municipality also includes the following population centres: Dommartin, la Mallieue, Saint-Georges-sur-Meuse, Stockay, Sur-les-Bois, Tincelle, Warfée, Warfusée, and Yernawe.

Verlaine (French pronunciation: ​[vɛʁlɛn]; Walloon: Verlinne) is a municipality of Wallonia located in the province of Liège, Belgium. On January 1, 2006, Verlaine had a total population of 3,507. The total area is 24.21 km2 which gives a population density of 145 inhabitants per km2. The municipality consists of the following districts: Bodegnée, Chapon-Seraing, Seraing-le-Château and Verlaine.

The Tihange Nuclear Power Station is one of two nuclear energy production sites in Belgium and contains 3 nuclear power plants. The site is located on the bank of the Meuse river, near the village of Tihange in the Walloon province of Liège. The station is operated and majority-owned by vertically-integrated Belgian energy corporation Electrabel. EDF Luminus has a 50% stake in the oldest unit and a 10% stake in the two newest units. It employs 1074 workers and covers an area of 75 hectares (190 acres). The plant represents about 15% of Belgium's total electricity production capacity. Nuclear energy typically provides between 40%-50% of Belgium's domestically-generated electricity. In order to extend the lifetime of Tihange 3, the operator will receive subsidies through a Contract of Difference arrangement.

Villers-le-Bouillet (French pronunciation: ​[vilɛʁs lə bujɛ]; Walloon: Viyé-l'-Boulet) is a municipality of Wallonia located in the province of Liège, Belgium. On January 1, 2006, Villers-le-Bouillet had a total population of 6,051. The total area is 32.71 km2 (12.63 sq mi) which gives a population density of 185 inhabitants/km2 (480 inhabitants/sq mi). The municipality consists of the following districts: Fize-Fontaine, Vaux-et-Borset, Vieux-Waleffe, Villers-le-Bouillet, and Warnant-Dreye. In 1982–1988, it was the first Belgian municipality with a Black alderman (échevin), Donat Ajanohun, born in Benin in 1948.

The Lyell Cave, formerly called Grande caverne d'Engihoul, is located near the ancienne commune of Éhein, municipality of Engis, Liège Province, Belgium. It is one of many caves investigated or discovered by Philippe-Charles Schmerling, in 1831; the cave is named for a later researcher, Sir Charles Lyell, who visited the cave in 1860. Together with the Rosée Cave, it was classified as an exceptional cultural heritage of Wallonia in July 1988, making it accessible only to scientific researchers. The cave's troglofauna includes Belgium's only cave-inhabiting beetle, Tychobythinus belgicus.

The Grotte de Rosée (Cave of Rosée) is located near Éhein in the municipality of Engis, in Belgium. It has been classified as Wallonia's patrimoine immobilier exceptionnel de la Région wallonne ('exceptional heritage of Wallonia'), and can be visited only by accredited scientists. It houses a set of concretions which is unique in Belgium.

Awirs (Walloon: Les Awires) is a village of Wallonia and a district of the municipality of Flémalle, located in the province of Liège, Belgium. The population on December 31, 2004 was 2,869. A notable building is the 18th century Château d'Aigremont. A Neanderthal skull, Engis 2, was found in the Schmerling Caves.
