The Awesome Festival (in full the Awesome International Arts Festival for Bright Young Things) is an arts event in Perth, Western Australia held annually since 1995. The participation and interaction of younger visitors is encouraged by street theatre, interactive art, dance workshops, film screenings and musical performances. It is organised and run by Awesome Arts Australia, a not-for-profit company based in Perth.The company running the festival is also involved with separate programs, including a food art program in the remote mining town of Leonora and school community projects that create works to showcase at the festival. Some of these are sponsored by its commercial partner, the multinational mining company BHP Nickel West.The festival has featured international acts including a contemporary dance group from Canada and Architects of Air, a United Kingdom-based group designing large inflatable sculptures; minor acts have performed shows exclusive to Perth from France, Taiwan, New Zealand and around the country. Kismet, the prominent theatre company from Apulia, in southern Italy, performed a dance and acrobatics version of Beauty & the Beast in 2002, before touring elsewhere in Australia.The 2003 program included an interactive video by the Melbourne arts group Chunky Move, a migration and colonisation performance by Hong Kong's City Contemporary Dance Company and the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts, and contemporary dance by the Canadian group Cas Public. Artists and groups from Belgium, the United Kingdom, Portugal, Slovenia, and France also performed or displayed their work. A performance by Slovenian artist Matej Andraž Vogrinčič involved filling a building site with thousands of beach balls, as a tribute to childhood beach games, and Belgian performance artist Caroline Amorous performed her character Rose, an eccentric old lady interacting with people on the street while walking a poster of a dog. Architects of the Air, based on a design by Nottingham and Geneva-based artist Alan Parkinson, exhibited Ixilum following the similar Arcazzar exhibit in 2002. Ixilum was a small inflatable city, inspired by Iranian architecture and formerly displayed at the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao in Spain.

Forrest Chase is a major shopping centre in Perth, Western Australia located in Forrest Place. A Myer store serves as its main anchor and largest tenant. The centre also contains a Woolworths supermarket and other shops. The western portion of the structure sits on the site of the former Padbury Buildings on the eastern side of Forrest Place. The site also formerly contained the Perth Boans department store before it made way for the current centre in 1986. The centre was redeveloped between 2017 and 2019.

Gordon Stephenson House is an office building within the one40william commercial development in Perth, Western Australia. The building was named in honour of Gordon Stephenson, an architect responsible for planning much of modern Perth's urban form through the 1955 Plan for the Metropolitan Region, Perth and Fremantle. It currently houses the Departments of Planning, Lands and Heritage, Transport and Mines, Industry Regulation and Safety among others.

Perth Underground railway station is a railway station within the Perth central business district in Western Australia. It is adjacent to the above-ground Perth railway station and is sometimes considered part of that station. Perth Underground station is served by Joondalup line services heading north and Mandurah line services heading south. It was built as part of the construction for the Mandurah line, and was known as William Street station during construction due to its location on William Street. Perth Underground station consists of an island platform and a concourse below ground. There are five entrances to the station: from Murray Street Mall, Raine Square, 140 William Street, underneath the Horseshoe Bridge, and from Perth station. The contract for Package F of the Mandurah line, which included the construction of Perth Underground station, Elizabeth Quay station (known as Esplanade station prior to 2016), 700 metres (2,300 ft) of bored tunnels and 600 metres (2,000 ft) of cut-and-cover tunnels, was awarded to Leighton Contractors and Kumagai Gumi in February 2004 at a cost of $324.5 million. Demolition of buildings on the Perth Underground site occurred between April and August 2004. From September 2004 to January 2005, the station's diaphragm walls were constructed. By the end of 2005, the station box had been excavated to its lowest level, and in February 2006, the tunnel boring machine (TBM) first reached the station, having tunnelled from Esplanade station. The TBM tunnelled north from Perth Underground after that. The TBM reached the station for the second time in August 2006 after digging the second tunnel from Esplanade station. It again tunnelled north from Perth Underground, surfacing west of Perth station. Perth Underground and Esplanade stations opened to Joondalup line services on 15 October 2007. Mandurah line services south of Esplanade station commenced on 23 December 2007. The land above the station was developed by Cbus Property and Leighton Contractors to form the 140 William Street development, which was completed in 2010. In 2013, a pedestrian tunnel linking Perth Underground with Perth station opened as part of the Perth City Link project. Trains at Perth Underground station run at a five minute frequency during peak hour and a fifteen minute frequency outside peak and on weekends and public holidays. At night, trains are half-hourly or hourly. The station received 12,418,561 boardings in the 2013–14 financial year.

Murray Street is one of four main east-west roads within the Perth central business district (CBD).

Carillon City is a major Australian shopping centre, located in Perth. It is located in the middle of the Perth main retail precinct between the Hay and Murray Street malls, at the southern end of Forrest Place. It is linked to St Georges Terrace by way of access through Trinity Arcade and an arcade under Hay Street Mall. Walkways and a pedestrian overpass connects the Cultural Centre, public carparks, the rail and bus terminal with Carillon City. As of September 2021 the centre is undergoing redevelopment, involving demolition of the existing centre.

The Horseshoe Bridge in Perth, Western Australia is a traffic bridge that connects the Perth CBD to Northbridge, carrying William Street. It was constructed in 1904 to pass over the Fremantle railway line, with the horseshoe shape designed to fit the approach ramps into a constricted site.

The Royal Hotel in Perth, Western Australia is a hotel building from 1882 that has survived over one hundred years, on the corner of Wellington and William streets. An early name was the Schruth's Royal Hotel in 1894.A major upgrading of the facade was done in 1906.It was bought by the Swan Brewery in 1925.The hotel building remains despite extensive changes around it throughout the twentieth century. Following extensive renovations, The Royal, a pub occupying the building, opened on 16 November 2019.

Perth railway station is the largest station on the Transperth network, serving the central business district of Perth, Western Australia. It serves as an interchange between the Airport, Armadale, Fremantle, Joondalup, Mandurah and Midland lines as well as Transwa's Australind service.

The Wentworth Hotel is located on the corner of Murray Street and William Street in Perth, Western Australia. The hotel was known as the Gordons Hotel prior to the First World War.It was rebuilt by Mary Thomas (later Mary Raine) in 1927–1928 as the Wentworth, with Western Australian newspapers seeing the centenary of the state in 1929 as a motivation for new and renovated hotels for increased accommodation.During the Second World War the hotel attracted publicity over troops fighting, causing the hotel to be made out of bounds to troops. The hotel was also cautioned on drinks provision by the licensing court in the same year.The hotel is part of the Raine Square block and has been included in heritage assessments of the block.

The Grand Theatre was a theatre and cinema located at 164–168 Murray Street, Perth, Western Australia. It was opened in September 1916 and closed in November 1980. The building was demolished in March 1990.

The Piccadilly Cinema Centre (formerly Piccadilly Theatre) and Piccadilly Arcade are located at 700-704 Hay Street, Perth, Western Australia. It is an art deco style cinema and shopping arcade, designed by architect William T. Leighton for mining entrepreneur Claude de Bernales. The theatre and arcade opened in 1938, with the arcade connecting Hay Street through to Murray Street. In 1984 the theatre and arcade underwent a significant refurbishment, with the refurbishment winning an architectural award from the Royal Australian Institute of Architecture (WA Chapter) in 1986. The theatre and arcade are classified by the National Trust of Australia and are included on the State Heritage Register. The Piccadilly Cinema was the last operating cinema in the Perth central business district before its closure in 2013 and until the opening of Raine Square's Palace Cinema in 2018. Following a three-year refurbishment and renovation, the arcade was reopened in November 2021.
