Lac de Gérardmer

The canton of Gérardmer is an administrative division of the Vosges department, in northeastern France. At the French canton reorganisation which came into effect in March 2015, it was expanded from 3 to 17 communes (2 of which merged into the new commune Granges-Aumontzey). Its seat is in Gérardmer.It consists of the following communes:

Gérardmer (French pronunciation: [ʒeʁaʁme] (listen); German: Gerdsee or archaic Geroldsee, and Giraumoué in local Vosgian) is a commune in the Vosges Department, Grand Est (before 2016: Lorraine), France. Gérardmer is said to owe its name to Gerard, Duke of Lorraine, who in the 11th century built a tower on the bank of the lake or mer, near which, in 1285, a new town was founded.

The Communauté de communes Gérardmer Hautes Vosges is an administrative association of rural communes in the Vosges department of eastern France. It was created on 1 January 2022 from part of the Communauté de communes des Hautes Vosges. It consists of 8 communes, and has its administrative offices at Gérardmer. Its area is 196.4 km2, and its population was 14,256 in 2019 (geography as of January 2022).

The Jamagne is a short river of 6.9 kilometres (4.3 mi), an emissary of the lac de Gérardmer which is its source. It flows into the Vologne as a left tributary at Kichompré.
