St Andrews recorded a population of 1,186 at the 2021 census.St Andrews is well known for its alternative market, which is open every Saturday from 8am to 2pm it is closed on total fire ban days however. It also contains a hotel, primary school, bakery, CFA, general store and the Wadambuk community centre where a mobile library managed by Yarra Plenty Regional Library has a regular scheduled stop.

Pheasant Creek is a locality in Victoria to the east of Kinglake West and to the west of Kinglake Central. Named after the creek that passes through the north of the town, Pheasant Creek is a largely residential area with moderately sized bush blocks connecting pine plantations to the north with the Kinglake National Park to the south. Pheasant Creek also contains a small industrial estate hosting a variety of small businesses, and a small commercial area consisting of a General Store, Bakery and Gym.

Another source says that it was named by the surveyor Thomas Nutt, supposedly because one of his party, a Mr Arthur, died and was buried in this location.
