Ortu Gable Hall School (formerly Gable Hall School) is an oversubscribed coeducational secondary school academy and sixth form located in Corringham (near Stanford-Le-Hope) in Thurrock, Essex, England. Previously a foundation school administered by Thurrock Council, the school academized on 1 July 2011 and became a multi-academy trust in 2013. In 2017 the school was rebranded as Ortu Gable Hall, ortu being Latin for "rising", alongside the trust's rebrand under the same moniker. The trust is now called the Ortu Federation and the school is sponsored by it.Ortu Gable Hall School offers GCSEs and BTECs as programmes of study for pupils, while students in the sixth form have the option to study from a range of A Levels and further BTECs. Since 2002 the school has been a specialist arts college (performing arts) and was previously an applied learning college from 2007.

Corringham is a town and former civil parish in the unitary authority area of Thurrock, in the ceremonial county of Essex, England, located directly next to the town of Stanford-le-Hope, about 24 miles (39 km) east of London and 3 miles (4.8 km) south of Basildon. Corringham lies on a hill overlooking the Thames between Canvey Island and Tilbury Fort. It is 6 miles (9.7 km) north-east of Grays, the administrative centre of Thurrock. Corringham is also a Church of England parish stretching from Horseshoe Bay in the Thames Estuary to Dry Street, south of Langdon Hills. St Mary the Virgin Church is the first of its two parish churches, and originated in the Saxon period from the time of St Cedd in the 7th century. Corringham was formerly served by the Corringham Light Railway which connected the Kynoch munitions factory with the London, Tilbury and Southend Railway. The small historic heart is one of the seven conservation areas in the borough, which is for local government matters a unitary authority. Today, the town is located close to the A13.

They last competed in the Isthmian League North Division, the eighth tier of English football, and played at Rookery Hill. The club was placed into liquidation by owner Alfie Best on 1 September 2023. The club stated this was due to historic debts from the previous owners.

St Mary the Virgin Church is a Church of England parish church in the town of Corringham, Essex, England. Dating from the 11th century, it is a Grade I listed building.The church has a west tower with a pyramidal roof, a nave and north aisle, and a chancel with a north chapel. It is built of ragstone rubble and flint, with dressings of Reigate stone and limestone. Domesday Book of 1086 does not record a church or priest. At that time, landholders in the area included the bishop of London, and bishop Odo of Bayeux. The tower is from the late 11th century, as evidenced by the bell-openings and blind arcading, and inside, the arch with a single order of decoration on each side. Nikolaus Pevsner calls it "one of the most important Early Norman monuments in the county". At the apex of the arch on the east side is a small carving of a human head. The RCME considered the south walls of the chancel and nave to be from earlier in the 11th century, perhaps pre-Conquest, with the tower standing on the foundations of the earlier west wall of the nave.The north chapel and north aisle were added in the 14th century, and in the same century the chancel was extended eastward and made higher. 19th-century restoration included work in 1843 by George Gilbert Scott, and the south porch and the vestry are also from that century.The three bells are from 1580, 1629 and 1617.Today the parish is part of the benefice of Corringham and Fobbing.

Basildon Meadows is a 6.5-hectare (16-acre) biological Site of Special Scientific Interest on the southern outskirts of Basildon in Essex.The site is composed of three unimproved meadows which have a wide variety of herbs. The principal grasses are creeping bent, rye-grass and crested dog's tail. Flowers include the green-winged orchid and yellow rattle, which are rare in Essex. There is also a small pond and scattered scrub.The fields are private land with no public access.

Balstonia is an urban area within the unitary authority of Thurrock in Essex, England. It is contiguous with the towns of Stanford-le-Hope and Corringham.

Vange is a former village and civil parish now subsumed within the urban area of the Basildon borough of Essex. The village was first recorded in the Domesday Book in 1086 of having a population of 27. The London Road (B1464) is the main road through Vange and used to be part of the A13 until it was bypassed in the 1970s. The population of the Vange ward within the Basildon Borough taken at the 2011 Census was 10,048. In 1931 the parish had a population of 2300. On 1 January 1937 the parish was abolished to form Billericay.Vange Hill Open Space is 30 acres (120,000 m2) of former plotlands lying next to Basildon golf course. Vange Marshes is a wetland habitat.

Fobbing is a small village and former civil parish in Thurrock, Essex, England, and one of Thurrock's traditional (Church of England) parishes. It is between Basildon and Corringham, and is also close to Stanford-le-Hope. In 1931 the parish had a population of 734.Fobbing is one of seven conservation areas in Thurrock.
