All Saints Church at Monie

Venton is an unincorporated community in Somerset County, Maryland, United States. It consists of a small number of farms and homesteads around Venton Road, and is the home of All Saints Church at Monie and Panther's Den, both of which are on the National Register of Historic Places.

Panther's Den, also known as Kolheim House, is a historic home located at Venton, Somerset County, Maryland, United States. It is a 1+1⁄2-story, Flemish bond brick house with a steeply pitched, wood-shingled gable roof. It was originally constructed in the second quarter of the 18th century, enlarged late in the 18th century, and remodeled on the interior between 1830 and 1850. Also on the property is a pyramidal-roofed dairy, a board-and-batten tack house, and family burial plot. Panther's Den was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1984.

Waterloo is a historic home located at Princess Anne, Somerset County, Maryland. It is a two-story four-room plan Flemish bond brick house, Georgian-period brick house built about 1750-1760 by Henry Waggaman. It features a Corinthian columned porch with a rooftop balustrade. Also on the property is a group of outbuildings including a doctor's office, a five-car garage, a frame caretaker's house, a small pump house, and the Waggaman-Riggin family cemetery. During the 19th century the property was owned by several locally prominent families until 1864, when the farm was purchased by the county for an almshouse. The county retained ownership of the property until 1948. The house was operated as a Bed & Breakfast for several years, but is now under private ownership. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1986.

Manokin Historic District is a national historic district at Princess Anne, Somerset County, Maryland, United States, located at the mouth of the Manokin River. It consists of the Manokin settlement, which forms a unique and visually interesting area of great historical significance on the Lower Eastern Shore. These structures, Clifton, More and Case It, Almodington, Elmwood, and Homewood are most strongly linked together visually, culturally, and historically. Architecturally the buildings span the period between the early 18th and the mid 20th centuries. Historically the structures are united by a tangled web of family interconnections. The continuous use of the properties for agriculture adds to the continuity of the intertwined historic associations. The vista from the district to the Chesapeake Bay or from the mouth of the Manokin River upstream remains unchanged from the 17th century.The historic district was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1976.

The Teackle Mansion is a historic estate at 11736 Mansion Street, Princess Anne, Maryland, United States. It was constructed between 1802 and 1819 for Littleton Dennis Teackle and his wife Elizabeth Upshur Teackle. It is notable for its Neoclassical architecture with many distinctive features, and its 19th century period rooms. It is the home of the Somerset County Historical Society, and was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1971.It is mentioned in the novel The Entailed Hat by George Alfred Townsend.

Beckford is a historic home located at Princess Anne, Somerset County, Maryland, United States. It is a late Georgian Flemish bond brick dwelling, five bays wide by three bays deep, two stories with a hipped roof and two large interior chimney stacks. It is situated on the crest of the slope rising from the eastern bank of the Manokin River.Beckford was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1974.

Maddux House, also known as Maddux's Island, Maddux's Warehouse, Inclosure, and Capt. William T. Ford House, is a historic home located at Upper Fairmount, Somerset County, Maryland. It is located on a high ridge of land overlooking the Manokin River and Back Creek. It is a two-story, six-bay, L-shaped frame house with steeply pitched roofs. The house dates to the 18th century, with an addition dating to around 1850–60. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2002.

Washington Academy and High School (commonly abbreviated to WAHS), also once known as simply Washington High School (WHS), is a public high school in Somerset County, Maryland, United States. The school handles five grades: 8th grade is handled in the "academy" section of the school, while grades 9 through 12 are handled as high school.The school is located on the Eastern Shore of Maryland in the town of Princess Anne in Somerset County. The school is within walking distance of the University of Maryland Eastern Shore on Maryland Route 675, and just east of US 13. The current building was constructed in 1975 and is 129,534 square feet (12,034.1 m2) is size. The school property is 32.14 acres (130,100 m2).

The Eastern Correctional Institution (ECI) is a medium-security state prison for men located in Westover, Somerset County, Maryland, owned and operated by the Maryland Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services. Eastern has a minimum-security Annex, completed in 1993, and housing some 560 inmates. The total capacity of the minimum- and medium-security sections is around 3,400. With an actual population of about 3,300, this is Maryland's largest prison.The facility is adjacent to the Somerset County Detention Center. In October 2016, federal authorities indicted eighty people as part of a scheme to smuggle drugs, telephones and pornography into the facility. Also while there the federal authorities investigated 6 different murders within the facility one of them resulting in one inmate being partially decapitated. The investigation led to the charge and conviction of an inmate Patrick Simpson#3378314 who was also under suspicion for 2 previous murders and for smuggling large amounts of illicit drugs and tobacco. Simpson subsequently pleaded out to assault with a deadly weapon and received an additional 2 years on his sentence to be served before his release.

The Manokin Presbyterian Church is a historic church located in Princess Anne, Somerset County, Maryland. It is a 1+1⁄2-story brick structure with a three-story entrance tower on the east end. The walls of the main section were built in 1765, and the tower was added in 1888. It is one of the first organized Presbyterian Churches established in America. In 1672, a group of Scotch-Irish Presbyterians who had settled on the Eastern Shore of Maryland, petitioned the Grand Jury of Somerset County for a civil permit to hold services of worship and to have their own minister. The permission was granted, and Robert Maddox was called by the Grand Jury to preach on the third Sunday of each month, at the home of Christopher Nutter, 'at the head of the Manokin River,' the present site. In 1680 a request was sent by Colonel Stevens of Rehobeth to the Presbytery at Laggan, Ireland, for an ordained minister, and three years later, in answer to that request, the Reverend Francis Makemie, a 25-year-old, recently ordained minister, arrived in Somerset County. Under his leadership, this church, and those at Rehobeth, Pitts Creek, Snow Hill, and Wicomico were organized.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1976.

John Woodland Crisfield (November 8, 1806 – January 12, 1897) was a U.S. Congressman from Maryland, representing the sixth district from 1847 to 1849 and the first district from 1861 to 1863. The city of Crisfield, Maryland, is named after him. Crisfield was a strong supporter of the Union during American Civil War, opposing moves towards Maryland's secession. However, Crisfield also supported the institution of slavery and worked to prevent its abolition in Maryland.

Princess Anne is a town in Somerset County, Maryland, United States, that also serves as its county seat. Its population was 3,290 at the 2010 census. It is included in the Salisbury, Maryland–Delaware Metropolitan Statistical Area. It is home to the University of Maryland Eastern Shore and the Teackle Mansion.
