Llwyn-on Reservoir (or Llwyn Onn Reservoir) is the largest and southernmost of the three reservoirs in the Taf Fawr valley in South Wales. Cardiff Corporation Waterworks obtained an Act of Parliament in 1884 to authorise construction of the reservoirs, to increase the water supply for Cardiff, but construction of Llwyn-on Reservoir did not start until 1911 and was completed in the 1920s. The reservoir, which has been owned and managed by Welsh Water and its predecessor organisation, the Welsh Water Authority, since 1973, is located within the Brecon Beacons National Park with its eastern half in the Merthyr Tydfil unitary authority area and the western half in Rhondda Cynon Taf. The village of Llwyn-On is nearby and the A470 trunk road runs along its eastern shoreline.

Mynydd-y-glog is a hill just east of the village of Penderyn in the northern corner of the county borough of Rhondda Cynon Taff in south Wales. It lies within the Brecon Beacons National Park and Fforest Fawr Geopark. Its summit plateau rises to a height of 389m / 1277 ft at OS grid ref SN 982088, a spot marked by a trig point. To its north lies the partly dry valley of Pant Sychbant which forms the eastern extension of Cwm Cadlan. Its southern slopes are drained by various streams which feed into the Afon Cynon.

Daren Fach is a Site of Special Scientific Interest in Merthyr Tydfil, south Wales.

Cefn Cil Sanws is a hill in the Brecon Beacons National Park within the county borough of Merthyr Tydfil in south Wales. The summit at 460m above sea level is crowned by a trig point. The steep cliffs of Darren Fawr and Darren Fach defend its western side which drops down into Cwm Taf. A major limestone quarry is worked on the southeastern side of the hill. An unexpected feature at this altitude is Merthyr Tydfil Golf Course which extends high onto the eastern and southern slopes of the hill.

A.F.C. Llywdcoed is a Welsh football club based in the village of Llwydcoed. The club plays in the Ardal Leagues South West, which is tier 3 of the Welsh football pyramid. Its home matches are played at the Welfare Ground.

Llwydcoed railway station served the village of Llwydcoed, in the historical county of Glamorganshire, Wales, from 1853 to 1962 on the Vale of Neath Railway.

Soar, Llwydcoed was a Baptist Chapel in Kingsbury Place, Llwydcoed, Aberdare, Glamorgan, Wales. Services at Soar were held in the Welsh language. Soar was a branch of Heolyfelin, a neighbouring Baptist chapel. The first services were held in houses in the locality until the first chapel building was erected in 1859 with seating for 380 people. Like many Baptist chapels in the locality, Thomas Price was involved in its formation and preached at the opening services, together with Benjamin Evans of Heolyfelin. Evans served as minister of Soar, as well as Heolyfelin, until his departure to Neath in 1861. His successor, William Harris, was also minister of Soar as well as Heolyfelin until 1876.Daniel Jones was the first minister from 1876 until 1898. During his ministry a nw vestry was built in 1892 at a cost of £300. He was succeeded by D.G. Price (1900–07) but after his departure, Soar was without a minister for ten years. Eventually, Vaughan Pugh became minister in 1917, and during a short but successful ministry, several renovations were made including a new vestry. Following his departure there was another period without a minister and Cynog Williams of Heolyfelin took charge of Soar. (1907-20) In 1938, Christmas Jones became minister of Soar as well as Saron, Godreaman. During this time there were some disagreements within the church and in 1947 it was reported that the membership was small. By then, the first woman deacon, Lizzie Anne Rowlands, had been elected. Christmas Jones served until 1954. D. Meredith Morgan was the last minister. The chapel closed in the early 1980s.

Cefn Coed railway station served the suburb of Cefn-coed-y-cymmer, Glamorgan, Wales, from 1867 to 1964 on the Brecon and Merthyr Tydfil Junction Railway.

Ysguborwen is a 19th-century house in Aberdare, in the county borough of Rhondda Cynon Taf, Wales. Ysguborwen was built by Samuel Thomas, one of the pioneers of the Welsh coal trade.Although the Thomas family had held land in the area since at least 1477, Ysguborwen house was built between 1852 and 1855. It was here in 1856 that David Alfred Thomas, first Viscount Rhondda, was born. The South Wales Daily News described the house as, "A tasteful and imposing building." Although early profiles of D. A. Thomas describe him as 'of Ysguborwen,' D. A. Thomas actually resided at Llanwern, outside Newport, the house at Ysguborwen being occupied by his brother, J. H. Thomas. The house is today a nursing home.
