Nostrand Avenue station (BMT Myrtle Avenue Line)

Marcy, or Marcy Projects, is a public housing complex built and operated by the New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA) and located in Bedford-Stuyvesant, Brooklyn and is bordered by Flushing, Marcy, Nostrand and Myrtle avenues. The complex was named after William L. Marcy (1786–1857), a lawyer, soldier, and statesman. Consisting of 27 six-story buildings on 28.49 acres (0.1153 km2; 0.04452 sq mi), it contains 1,705 apartments housing about 4,286 residents (average of 2.5 people to an apartment).

The Myrtle–Willoughby Avenues station is a station on the IND Crosstown Line of the New York City Subway. Located at the intersection of Myrtle and Marcy Avenues in Bedford–Stuyvesant, Brooklyn, it is served by the G train at all times.

Franklin Avenue was a station on the demolished section of the BMT Myrtle Avenue Line. The station was located at the intersection of Myrtle and Franklin Avenues in Bedford-Stuyvesant, Brooklyn, New York, United States. The station opened in 1889, and closed in 1969.

On December 20, 2014, Ismaaiyl Abdullah Brinsley shot and killed Rafael Ramos and Wenjian Liu — two on-duty New York City Police Department (NYPD) officers — in the Bedford–Stuyvesant neighborhood of Brooklyn. Brinsley then fled into the New York City Subway, where he committed suicide. Earlier in the day, before he killed Ramos and Liu, Brinsley had shot and wounded his ex-girlfriend Shaneka Thompson in Baltimore after initially pointing the gun at his own head.

Tompkins Avenue was a station on the demolished section of the BMT Myrtle Avenue Line. The station was located at the intersection of Myrtle and Tompkins Avenues in Bedford-Stuyvesant, Brooklyn. The station opened in 1889, and closed in 1969.

John Wayne Elementary School (P.S. 380), is an elementary school, located at 370 Marcy Avenue, Williamsburg, Brooklyn. Dedicated in honor of John Wayne on October 28, 1982, "John Wayne Elementary School Day".John Wayne's seven children attended the dedication. Inside the school is a 38-foot mosaic mural commission by New York artist Knox Martin[1] entitled "John Wayne and the American Frontier".John Wayne Elementary School was in the news in 2007 when it was reported that "Subway Hero" Wesley Autrey was working at the school.

The Magnolia grandiflora is a historic tree at 679 Lafayette Avenue in Bedford–Stuyvesant, Brooklyn, New York City. The specimen is a rare example of a flourishing laurel magnolia growing as far north as New York, having been brought as a seedling from North Carolina and planted around 1885 by William Lemken. It is one of two trees that were made New York City designated landmarks; the other was the now-euthanized Weeping Beech in Flushing, Queens. Beginning in the 1970s, it was protected by Hattie Carthan, who enlisted neighborhood schoolchildren to help raise money to protect the tree, which was threatened by the construction of a parking lot. After the tree was made as a landmark, Carthan founded Magnolia Tree Earth Center, a nonprofit focused on urban beautification and environmental awareness. The center is housed in the brownstone adjacent to the tree.

Nostrand Avenue was a station on the demolished BMT Lexington Avenue Line in Brooklyn, New York City. It was opened on May 13, 1885, and had two tracks and two side platforms. It was located at the intersection of Lexington Avenue and Nostrand Avenue. It also had connections to the Nostrand Avenue Line and Lorimer Street Line streetcars. The station closed on October 13, 1950. The next southbound stop was Franklin Avenue. The next northbound stop was Tompkins Avenue. The current site of the station is mostly residential with the exception of storefronts along the first floors of brownstones on the southeast corner of the intersection.

Public School 71K is a historic school building located in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, New York City. It was built in 1888–1889 to designs by James W. Naughton. It is a symmetrical three story, brick building with stone trim in the Second Empire style. It features a tall central tower with a high mansard roof and original iron cresting.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982.Today, the building serves as a Beis Rochel Satmar girls' school and a joy hall. This building has an exact twin in Bedford-Stuyvesant, Brooklyn: the Excellence Charter School at 225 Patchen Ave.

Herbert Von King Park is an urban park in the Bedford–Stuyvesant neighborhood of Brooklyn in New York City. It was one the first parks established in Brooklyn, from land originally acquired in 1857. The park was originally named Tompkins Park, after former New York governor Daniel D. Tompkins, and was renamed in 1985 in honor of Herbert Von King, a longtime local community organizer who was nicknamed the "mayor of Bedford–Stuyvesant". The park is bounded on the north by Lafayette Avenue, to the east by Tompkins Avenue, to the south by Greene Avenue, and to the west by Marcy Avenue. The park contains a ballfield, a playground, and the Herbert Von King Cultural Arts Center, the latter of which opened in 1973. The facility also has the Almira Kennedy Coursey Ampitheatre, named after a longtime advocate for the facility's construction.
