Schloss Oldenburg

The State Museum for Art and Cultural History (in German: Landesmuseum für Kunst und Kulturgeschichte) is an art museum consisting of three separate buildings located close to each other in the city of Oldenburg, Lower Saxony, Germany.The three museum locations are: Schloss Oldenburg (decorative arts, regional history, some old master paintings) Augusteum (old master painting collection) Prinzenpalais (modern art collection)The museum was established in 1919 after the abdication the previous year of Frederick Augustus II, the last Grand Duke of Oldenburg. The initial collection consisted of the former Grand Duke's picture gallery, a collection of antiquities, and the collections of the Museum of Decorative Arts and the former National Picture Gallery. The three buildings are all located close to the northeast corner of the Schlossgarten Oldenburg, now Oldenburg's main public park.

The Augusteum is a German art museum in the city of Oldenburg, Lower Saxony. The museum houses the old master painting collection of the State Museum for Art and Cultural History. The museum building was commissioned by Peter II, Grand Duke of Oldenburg in 1873 to house his collection and opened in 1876 as Oldenburg's first art museum. The building is in the neo-Renaissance style decorated with a grand staircase with paintings by Christian Griepenkerl, all commissioned by the Grand Duke. The Augusteum functioned as a public museum until 1918, when Peter II's son Frederick Augustus II was forced to abdicate and absconded to the Netherlands with the paintings. In a series of sales a third of the collection was sold off, and the town was left with works of secondary importance. The curators have been buying back works since then, a crusade that continues to this day. The Augusteum presents old master artworks near the northeast corner of the Schlossgarten Oldenburg. The Prinzenpalais, Elisabeth-Anna-Palais, and Schloss Oldenburg are also close by.

The Prinzenpalais is a palace, now used as an art museum, in the city of Oldenburg, Lower Saxony, Germany. The museum houses the modern art collection of the State Museum for Art and Cultural History. The building dates from 1826 and is in the classical style. It was the residence of the Russian princes Alexander and Peter. Subsequently Grand Duke Niklaus Friedrich Peter occupied the building. In 2003, it became part of the State Museum of Art and Cultural History (with the Augusteum and Schloss Oldenburg) and is an art gallery. The museum concentrates on German artists, ranging from neoclassicism and Romanticism in the mid-19th century to the post-1945 era. The Prinzenpalais building is near the northeast corner of the Schlossgarten Oldenburg. The Augusteum, Elisabeth-Anna-Palais, and Schloss Oldenburg are all close to the museum.

The Pulverturm is a historic brick-built powder magazine in the city of Oldenburg, Lower Saxony, Germany.The Pulverturm is the last remaining building in Oldenburg's historic fortifications. A small part of the city wall is still attached. The building was used to store gunpowder from 1730 to 1765 during Danish rule in the area. The building is circular with a domed roof. The Pulverturm is located close to the northern corner of the Schlossgarten Oldenburg. Elisabeth-Anna-Palais is to the southeast, Schloss Oldenburg is to the east, St Lamberti-Kirche and the Rathaus are to the north, and the Oldenburgisches Staatstheater is to the northwest.

The Old Town Hall (German: Altes Rathaus) is the former town hall in the centre of the city of Oldenburg, Lower Saxony, Germany. In 1635, a Renaissance-style town hall was built on this site by Count Anthony Günther. It was removed in 1886 and the present building was completed in 1888 with elements of the neo-Renaissance and neo-Gothic styles. There is a German restaurant in the basement, the Ratskeller Oldenburg.To the south is St Lamberti-Kirche and to the west is Oldenburgisches Staatstheater.

The Graf-Anton-Guenther School is a Gymnasium in Oldenburg, Lower-Saxony, established in 1920. Over 1600 students attend the school in the City of Oldenburg. The school is named after the last Count of Oldenburg Anthony Günther (German: Anton Günther). Headmaster is Wolfgang Schoedel. About 110 teachers are employed at the school.
