Mercer Brown House

The Plumpton Park Zoo is located in Rising Sun, Maryland, United States, along Maryland Route 273, which is part of the Mason and Dixon Scenic Byway. The Jeremiah Brown House and Mill Site, which is on the National Register of Historic Places, is also on the site. The zoo was started by Edward Plumstead in 1985 on his family estate, initially with deer and a few domestic animals. Now the zoo is home to over 180 exotic animals of 60 different species and a professionally trained staff of zookeepers and professionals. The zoo welcomes over 85,000 visitors a year.

Jeremiah Brown House and Mill Site is a Colonial-era mill complex and national historic district at Rising Sun, Cecil County, Maryland, United States. It consists of two distinct halves: a two-story, three-bay, gable-roofed stone structure built in 1757 by Jeremiah Brown, Sr., a Quaker from Pennsylvania; and a two-story, two-bay gable-roofed frame house built in 1904 by John Clayton on the site of the original 1702 log wing. Also on the property is a small 19th century bank barn; a reconstruction of the original mill built on top of the stone foundations of the 1734 Brown Water Corn and Gristmill; and the foundations of an 18th-century saw mill.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1987. The entire site is located within the grounds of the Plumpton Park Zoo.

Elisha Kirk House is a historic home located at Calvert, Cecil County, Maryland, United States. It is a two-story, Federal-style brick house built about 1813, five bays wide and two deep, with a new stone wing. The house features a one-story, flat-roofed portico with four Doric columns.During the period of 1867 through the mid-1880s, Mary E. Ireland and her family lived at the Elisha Kirk House.The Elisha Kirk House was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982.

East Nottingham Meetinghouse, or Brick Meetinghouse, is a historic Friends meeting house located at Rising Sun, Cecil County, Maryland. It consists of three different sections: the Flemish bond brick section is the oldest, having been built in 1724, 30 feet 3 inches (9.22 m) by 40 feet 2 inches (12.24 m); the stone addition containing two one-story meeting rooms on the ground floor, each with a corner fireplace at the south corners of the building, and a large youth gallery on the second floor; and in the mid 19th century, a one-story gable roofed structure was added at the southwest corner of the stone section to serve as a women's cloakroom and privy. It is of significance because of its association with William Penn who granted the site "for a Meeting House and Burial Yard, Forever" near the center of the 18,000-acre (73 km2) Nottingham Lots settlement and was at one time the largest Friends meeting house south of Philadelphia. The Philadelphia Half-Yearly Meeting was held here as early as 1725. During the Revolutionary War, an American Army hospital was established here in 1778 for sick and wounded troops under General William Smallwood's command and the Marquis de Lafayette's troops camped in the Meeting House woods on the first night of their march from the Head of Elk to victory at the Battle of Yorktown in 1781.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1977.

Isaac England House is a historic home located near Zion, Cecil County, Maryland, United States. It is a 2+1⁄2-story Georgian central hall plan brick house three bays across by one room deep. The house features a slate roof of medium pitch, and a single-story screened porch.The Isaac England House was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1980.

John Churchman House is a historic home located at Calvert, Cecil County, Maryland, United States. It consists of two distinct sections: a two-story, three-bay, gable-roofed brick house laid in Flemish bond dated to 1745; and a two-story, two-bay, gable-roofed house built in 1785 of uncoursed fieldstone. It was home to several generations of the locally prominent Churchman family, a number of whose members were important in the religious and educational history of Maryland-Pennsylvania Quakers in the 18th century.The John Churchman House was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1986.

State Line Serpentine Barrens is a 60-square-mile (160 km2) tract of serpentine barrens in Pennsylvania and Maryland in the eastern United States. The protected area is actually an assemblage of six tracts owned by a combination of the Nature Conservancy, the State of Pennsylvania, two counties, a township, and private owners. The largest tract is Nottingham County Park in Chester County, which has also been deemed a National Natural Landmark. The second-largest is Goat Hill Serpentine Barrens, jointly owned by the Nature Conservancy and the Pennsylvania Forestry Department (as a unit of William Penn State Forest), and the third-largest, Chrome Serpentine Barrens, is jointly owned by Elk Township and the Nature Conservancy. Rock Springs Preserve in Lancaster County is managed by the Lancaster Conservancy.The site has been named an Outstanding Geologic Feature of Pennsylvania. In the 19th century, the Pennsylvania–Maryland serpentine barrens were mined for chromite and magnesite. Other serpentine barrens in the mid-Atlantic region of North America include Soldiers Delight Barrens in Maryland and some scattered sites on Staten Island, including Serpentine Ridge Nature Preserve.

The Gilpin's Falls Covered Bridge is a Burr arch through truss wooden covered bridge in Bay View, Cecil County, Maryland, United States, close to the town of North East. The bridge was constructed by local Cecil County bridgewright Joseph George Johnson in the autumn and winter of 1860-61 across North East Creek. The bridge was erected adjacent to and upstream of Samuel Gilpin's mills and dam and crosses the millpond formed by it. This bridge has a span of 100 feet (30 m) and a total length of 119 feet (36 m) with its shelter panel overhangs, is 13.5 feet (4.1 m) wide, and is closed to all vehicular traffic.The structure was restored in 1959 by the State Roads Commission and the Historical Society of Cecil County. In 2010 the bridge was rehabilitated by engineers Wallace, Montgomery & Associates, LLP; contractor Kinsley Construction; and specialist bridgwrighting subcontractors, Barns & Bridges of New England, the Truax Timberwright Woodworks, and New World Restoration. Gilpin's Falls Covered Bridge was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2008.
