Newton Abbot railway station

The Newton Abbot power station was a power station originally built in 1898 at Jetty Marsh, Newton Abbot as a small station to serve the local community. It was subsequently significantly expanded, and changed from direct current to alternating current when bought by the Torquay corporation in the 1920s to provide power across a wider area towards the coast.It reached its peak capacity of 52.5 megawatts in 1948 - the same year that it was nationalised.. The station was used less from the mid-1960s as more efficient plant was used via the national grid, and it was finally closed in 1974 with demolition following shortly after. The site is now a housing estate.

Forde House, now also known as Old Forde House, is a Grade I listed Jacobean former manor house in Newton Abbot, Devon, England. It was built in c. 1610 and is noted for its fine 17th-century wood-carving and plasterwork. Once the manor house of the parish of Wolborough, it is now absorbed into a suburb of Newton Abbot. The south front is clearly visible from the busy Brunel Road which cuts across the house's front lawn.

Newton Abbot Racecourse is a thoroughbred horse racing venue located on the north bank of the River Teign in the parishes of Kingsteignton and Teigngrace just north of Newton Abbot, Devon, England. The course is a tight, flat left-handed oval of about 1 mile 1 furlong. There are seven relatively easy fences to a circuit and a very short run in to the finish.

South Devon UTC is a mixed University Technical College (UTC) located in Newton Abbot, Devon, England. It opened in 2015 and caters for students aged 14–19 years. It is located on a former motor dealer site, which was vacated in 2012.

The Devon County Football Association, also simply known as the Devon FA, is the governing body of football in the county of Devon. The Devon FA was founded in 1888 in Plymouth.They run a number of league and cup competitions for teams of all levels across the county, and representative teams for Senior Ladies, Under 18 Men and Under 18 Ladies.

Newton Abbot is a market town and civil parish on the River Teign in the Teignbridge District of Devon, England. Its 2011 population of 24,029 was estimated to reach 26,655 in 2019. It grew rapidly in the Victorian era as the home of the South Devon Railway locomotive works. This later became a major steam engine shed, retained to service British Railways diesel locomotives until 1981. It now houses the Brunel industrial estate. The town has a race course nearby, the most westerly in England, and a country park, Decoy. It is twinned with Besigheim in Germany and Ay in France.

The Aller Brook is a stream that flows for 5.0 miles (8 km) through Devon, England. It is a primary tributary of the River Teign, which it joins near Newton Abbot.

Milber is a housing estate at grid reference SX8770 considered part of the town of Newton Abbot in south Devon. It is on the opposite side of the A380 road from the town centre. Milber contains mainly houses, but also a trading estate and some shops. The estate is part of the electoral ward termed Buckland and Milber. The population at the 2011 census was 7,089. Its unusual 20th-century church of St Luke was built as a result of a dream experienced by William Keble Martin in 1931. It is partly circular in form with three naves and was completed in 1942. Some of the roads in Milber are named after trees - Hazel Close, Beechwood Avenue and Chestnut Drive being examples of this. The narrow, half mile-long, strip of Ben Stedham's Wood separates Milber from the suburbs of Aller and Newtake: the Iron Age hill fort of Milber Down is at the top of this wood.

Austins is a department store in Newton Abbot, Devon. Founded in 1924 as a drapery shop the store has expanded to four locations in one part of the town which has been described as the "Austins Quarter". It is a major employer in the town and the largest independent store in South West England.
