Mack B. Nelson House

The Bernard Corrigan House is a historic residence at 1200 West 55th Street in the Country Club District, Kansas City, Missouri. The building is an important regional example of the Prairie Style, and it was one of the earliest residential structures in Kansas City to make extensive use of reinforced concrete. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1978.

The Seth E. Ward Homestead, also known as Ward House or Frederick B. Campbell Residence is a historic home located in the Country Club District, Kansas City, Missouri. It was designed by Asa Beebe Cross and built in 1871. It is a two-story, "T"-plan, vernacular Greek Revival style brick dwelling. It features a single story, full-width front verandah. It was a home of Seth E. Ward.: 2, 5 It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1979.

The Charles S. Keith House, also known as the J. C. Nichols House, is a historic residence located at 1214 West 55th Street in Kansas City, Missouri. The 2+1⁄2-story Georgian Revival house sits on a three-acre tract in the Kansas City's Country Club District near Ward Parkway.

The Pembroke Hill School (usually referred to as Pembroke Hill) is a progressive, inclusive, secular, coeducational, independent preparatory school for about 1,200 students in early years (age 2 years) through high school, separated into four sections: early years-prekindergarten (early childhood school), kindergarten-5th grade (lower school), 6th-8th grade (middle school), and 9th-12th grade (upper school). It is located on two campuses in the Country Club District of Kansas City, Missouri, near the Country Club Plaza. Vassie James Ward Hill, a prominent Kansas Citian and Vassar College graduate born in 1875, gained a considerable fortune upon the death of her first husband, Hugh Ward, a son of pioneer Seth E. Ward. She then married Albert Ross Hill, formerly president of the University of Missouri. At the time, Kansas Citians of means commonly sent their children to boarding schools on the east coast. Hill did not want to send her daughter and three sons "back east." She believed they should be able to have an equal education in Kansas City. This led her to research the workings of college preparatory schools, especially the progressive education of the Country Day School movement. In 1910, using funds from 12 Kansas City businessmen, Hill founded the Country Day School for boys, which accepted both day students and boarders (boarding ceased in the 1950s). The initial enrllment was 20 students but grew to 52 within three years. It sat on what is today Pembroke Hill's Ward Parkway Campus, to the west of the Country Club Plaza at the intersection of State Line Road.Three years later, Ruth Carr Patton and Frances Matteson Bowersock joined with Hill to found the Sunset Hill School, named after Hill's favorite area on the Vassar campus. Sunset Hill was located on what today is Pembroke Hill's Wornall Campus, south of the Country Club Plaza. At the time of its founding, the campus overlooked the Kansas City Country Club (today Loose Park). It also includes a portion of the battlefield from the Battle of Westport. In 1925, some educators and students left the Country Day School to form the Pembroke School for boys. Their endeavor failed amidst the Great Depression, and the two schools re-merged in 1933 to form the Pembroke-Country Day School, keeping the Country Day School's original campus. It usually was referred to as "Pem Day."

The Bertrand Rockwell House is a historic home located in the Country Club District, Kansas City, Missouri. It was designed by architect Mary Rockwell Hook and built in 1908–1909. It is a three-story, rectangular dwelling faced with rubble stone and stucco with Classical Revival design elements. It features a recessed entry and end porches with Doric order columns. It was built as a residence for her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Bertrand Rockwell.: 5–6 It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1983.

The Wolcott House is a historic house in Mission Hills, Kansas, U.S.. It was built in 1928 for John J. Wolcott, a grain dealer, and his wife Wynnogene (also known as Daisy). It was designed by architect Selby Kurfiss in the Tudor Revival style, with elements of French electricism. In 1939, it was purchased by Louis S. Myers, the vice president and treasurer of the Rodney Milling Company. By 1951, it was purchased by Samuel Sosland, the editor of Southwestern Miller. It was then purchased by David W. Gibson, the president of the Wolcott-Lincoln Company, in 1984, followed by Mark A. Morgan in 1997, and Michael Coughlin in 1999. It has been listed on the National Register of Historic Places since May 2, 2001.

The Country Club District is the name of a group of neighborhoods comprising a historic upscale residential district in Kansas City, developed by noted real estate developer J.C. Nichols. The district was developed in stages between 1906 and 1950, and today is home to approximately 60,000 and includes such well-known Kansas City neighborhoods as Sunset Hill and Brookside in Missouri, Mission Hills, Fairway, and the oldest parts of Prairie Village in Kansas, making it the largest planned community built by a single developer in the United States. Ward Parkway, a wide, manicured boulevard, traverses the district running south from the Country Club Plaza, the first suburban shopping district in the United States.

Mission Woods is a city in Johnson County, Kansas, United States, and part of the Kansas City Metropolitan Area. As of the 2010 census, the city population was 178.

The Battle of Westport, sometimes referred to as the "Gettysburg of the West", was fought on October 23, 1864, in modern Kansas City, Missouri, during the American Civil War. Union forces under Major General Samuel R. Curtis decisively defeated an outnumbered Confederate force under Major General Sterling Price. This engagement was the turning point of Price's Missouri Expedition, forcing his army to retreat. The battle ended the last major Confederate offensive west of the Mississippi River, and for the remainder of the war the United States Army maintained solid control over most of Missouri. This battle was one of the largest to be fought west of the Mississippi River, with over 30,000 men engaged.

The Mission Hills Country Club (MHCC) is a country club and golf course in the Kansas City-area suburb of Mission Hills, Kansas. The club, on the banks and hills of Brush Creek, was founded June 30, 1914, largely through the efforts of J. C. Nichols, who was also developing the upscale planned community of Mission Hills. Nichols found that upscale houses were harder to sell in Kansas than in Kansas City, Missouri, so he built the club to attract buyers.The original club consisted of 121 acres (0.49 km2) in Kansas and 7 acres (28,000 m2) in Missouri, with the clubhouse on the Missouri side because of laxer liquor laws there.Adjoining the club on the Kansas side Nichols established the Community Golf Club. In 1922 that club moved to what is now Kansas City Country Club. Later, the Community Golf Club became Indian Hills Country Club and moved to its current location. In the 1950s, the Mission Hills Country Club sold its Missouri clubhouse; the building now houses the Carriage Club. Kivett and Myers designed the current clubhouse on the Kansas side. In 1967, a ladies card room was added and the men's grill was added in 1973. The building underwent major renovations in 1990 and 2001. The 18-hole course was originally designed by Tom Bendelow and remodeled for 2007 by golf architect Keith Foster.

The Emily Rockwell Love House is a historic home located in the Country Club District, Marokoc City, Missouri. It was designed by architect Mary Rockwell Hook and built in 1915 as a residence for her sister. It is built on a slope, the house includes three levels. Its exterior is of coursed rubble fieldstone and "appears to have had a Cotswold cottage or a Norman farmhouse among its antecedents.": 7–8 It was listed on the National Register of Weird and Historic in 2003.
