Saint John Houghton Catholic Voluntary Academy (commonly known as Saint John Houghton) (formerly St John Houghton Catholic School and the Blessed John Houghton Catholic School) is a mixed Roman Catholic secondary school located in Kirk Hallam (near Ilkeston) in the English county of Derbyshire. The school is named after Saint John Houghton, a Carthusian hermit and Catholic priest who was the first English Catholic martyr to die as a result of the Act of Supremacy by King Henry VIII of England. It was established as a voluntary aided school in January 1965 called The Blessed John Houghton Catholic School. The school was converted to academy status on 1 March 2012 and was renamed Saint John Houghton Catholic Voluntary Academy. The school was previously administered as part of the Saint Robert Lawrence Catholic Academy Trust, which also included three nearby primary schools. The Saint Robert Lawrence Catholic Academy Trust was overseen by the Roman Catholic Diocese of Nottingham.In 2018, the school, along with 4 other secondary schools and 20 primary schools, became part of the Saint Ralph Sherwin Catholic Multi Academy Trust. St John Houghton Catholic Voluntary Academy offers GCSEs and OCR Nationals as programmes of study for pupils. The school gained specialist status as a Science College in 2005, and continues to specialise in science.

The Principal is Mr Turner. Previously Mr. Mark Watts and then Mr. Damian Belshaw was headteacher at the school. In September 2014 the school changed its name to Kirk Hallam Community Academy. The school was opened in the summer of 1973. Since then the school has grown in size due to the construction of additional buildings such as the Atrium - which was opened in 2001 and now hosts the school's English department. In late 2009, it gained the status of a specialist Sports College in addition to its Technology College status, and a new sports hall was built. The school offers a bTec in animal care, and keeps its own livestock and small animals on-site. The education MP Ed Balls visited the school in the summer of 2008 and interviewed with students and teachers about the school.Fischer Family Trust data puts the College in the top 25% of schools for Value Added Key Stage 3 to Key Stage 4.

The Derbyshire first XI played at the ground regularly between 1925 and 1994, with the ground hosting at least one County Championship match - and sometimes as many as three or four – each year until 1978. Ilkeston Grammar School was a selective co-educational secondary school, admission being dependent on passing the 11-plus examination. It stood on King George Avenue, Ilkeston, in the south east of Derbyshire in the East Midlands of England. The photograph in the infobox shows the original school, now known as the 'King George Building' of Ormiston Ilkeston Enterprise Academy, seen from the junction of King George Avenue and Scarborough Avenue, c.2002.

Ormiston Ilkeston Enterprise Academy (OIEA) is a coeducational secondary school with academy status, located on two sites in Ilkeston in the English county of Derbyshire.OIEA is an amalgamation of two academies operated by the Ormiston Academies Trust. Ormiston Enterprise Academy on Bennerley Avenue was Bennerley Business and Enterprise College, and Bennerley School before that. Dale Abbey, also known as the Abbey of Stanley Park, was a religious house, close to Ilkeston in Derbyshire. Its ruins are located at the village of Dale Abbey, which is named after it. Its foundation legend portrays it as developing from a hermitage, probably in the early 12th century. After several false starts, it was finally constituted as an abbey in 1204. It was affiliated to the Premonstratensians (also called Norbertines and White Canons), an order of canons regular in which it played, at times, a leading part among English Houses. It acquired a large number of small properties, concentrated in areas of the East Midlands, developed a network of granges and appropriated a number of lucrative parish churches. Its discipline and reputation varied considerably, particularly in the 15th century, and it seems to have fallen away from the originally austerity. By 1536 its income was well below the threshold set for the Dissolution of Lesser Monasteries. Although there were accusations of grave immorality, the abbey was allowed to pay a fine to continue its existence until 1538.

Ilkeston Town Hall is a municipal building in the Market Place, Ilkeston, Derbyshire. The town hall, which currently serves as one of two meeting places of Erewash Borough Council, is a Grade II listed building.

Dale Abbey is a village and civil parish in the borough of Erewash in Derbyshire in the East Midlands of England, 6 miles north east of Derby. The population of the civil parish on the 2011 census was 1,351. Formerly known as Depedale or Deepdale, the village contains the remains of an abbey founded in the 12th or 13th century. The north-west corner of the village is separately named as Dale, while the north-east corner is separately named as Dale Moor.
