Rattlesden

The 2011 murder of the Ding family occurred in Wootton, a suburb of Northampton, England, in late April. Four members of the Ding family—Professor Jifeng "Jeff" Ding, his wife Helen Chui and their daughters Xing and Alice—were found murdered at their home in Wootton at 6:00 pm on Sunday, 1 May 2011. They were thought to have been murdered two days earlier between about 3:00 pm and 4:00 pm on Friday, 29 April 2011. Northamptonshire Police named Anxiang Du, a businessman from Coventry who had been involved in a legal dispute with the Ding family, as the prime suspect in the case. Du fled the murder scene in the Ding's rented car; he drove to London and travelled to Paris by coach. He continued through France, Spain and finally to Morocco, prompting a worldwide manhunt. He lived in a partly built block of flats for 14 months before he was arrested and extradited to the UK. Du was tried at Northampton Crown Court in November 2013. He was found guilty of the murders and was sentenced to life imprisonment with a minimum term of 40 years.

Woolpit ( WUUL-pit) is a village in the English county of Suffolk, midway between the towns of Bury St. Edmunds and Stowmarket. In 2011 Woolpit parish had a population of 1,995. It is notable for the 12th-century legend of the green children of Woolpit and for its parish church, which has especially fine medieval woodwork. Administratively Woolpit is a civil parish, part of the district of Mid Suffolk.

Saint Mary's Church is the parish church of Woolpit, Suffolk, England. Much of the church was built in the fifteenth century. but its most salient feature, the spire was added in 1870, thanks to the architect Richard Phipson.The church is a Grade I listed building It has "Suffolk's most perfectly restored angel hammerbeam roof", a profusion of medieval carved pew-ends (mixed with good 19th-century recreations), and a large and very fine porch of 1430–55. The roof is actually a double hammerbeam example, with the upper beam being false. The tower and spire are by Richard Phipson in the 1850s, replacing the originals lost to lightning in 1852 or 1853. Most of the rest of the church is Perpendicular Gothic, except for the 14th-century south aisle and chancel. There is fine flushwork decoration on the exterior of the clerestory. The medieval shrine was at the east end of the south aisle. The "quite perfect" eagle lectern is a rare early-Tudor original from before the English Reformation.

Buxhall is a village and a civil parish in the Mid Suffolk district, in the county of Suffolk, England. The nearest town is Stowmarket. It is home to a public house, St Mary's Church, Buxhall Windmill, and a village recreation ground with children's play area. The antiquarian Walter Arthur Copinger published his History of the parish of Buxhall in the county of Suffolk which featured twenty four illustrations by William Ayliffe.

Shelland is a small village and civil parish located just off the A14, 4 miles west of Stowmarket in Suffolk, England. Shelland consists of roughly 10 houses, a church and Shelland Green. At the 2001 census, the village had a population of 39. At the 2011 Census the population was still less than 100 and was included in the civil parish of Rattlesden. Shelland's name is unique and derives from "Shelf land" as it is situated on a "shelf" that overlooks the village of Buxhall. The mediaeval parish church, effectively rebuilt in 1767, is a grade II* listed building. It is unique in that it is the only church in the UK with a regularly used barrel organ. It is also one of only five dedicated to "King Charles the Martyr" (Charles I).

Gedding is a village and civil parish in the Mid Suffolk district of Suffolk in eastern England. Located around six miles south east of Bury St Edmunds. At the 2011 census its population was 125, rising to 134 at the 2018 ONS mid year estimate.

Haughley Park House in Stowmarket, Suffolk is an historical house of significance listed in the English Heritage Register. It is a large red brick country house built in about 1620 for the Sulyard family who were very prominent landowners in this area. The property remained with this family for two centuries after which it was sold. Today it is a private residence but at certain times of the year the gardens are open for viewing. The barn and gardens are also available for weddings.
