The University of Science and Technology – Houari Boumediene (French: Université des sciences et de la technologie Houari-Boumediene, USTHB, Arabic: جامعة العلوم والتكنولوجيا هواري بومدين) is a university located in the town of Bab-Ezzouar 15 kilometres (9.3 mi) from Algiers, Algeria. The university was designed by Brazilian architect Oscar Niemeyer and was inaugurated in 1974. Courses offered include Computing, Pure and Applied Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Geology, Civil Engineering, Electronics, Information Technology, Process Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering. USTHB was the largest university in Algeria until 2013; it has over 20,000 students. The government five-year plan aiming at raising the number of university students in Algeria from 1.2 million in 2010 to 2 million students in 2014 has led to the construction of new universities and faculties in almost every Algerian town; some universities are now larger than the USTHB in the number of enrolled students. USTHB collaborates with western universities. Agreements exist between the faculties and their counterpart in France, Quebec Canada and other countries for the purpose of training and research. A number of Arab and African student receive grants to study in the USTHB. Tutoring language in the university is the French language, except for the Geography curriculum that is provided in Arabic language.

Bab Ezzouar (; Arabic: باب الزوار) is a suburb of the city of Algiers in northern Algeria. It is one of Algiers fastest growing municipalities and has seen many hotels and commercial malls being raised in the area. Bab Ezzouar is also the location of the University of Science and Technology of Houari Boumediene (USTHB), which is one of the most prominent technological universities in Algeria.

Dar El Beïda is a district in Algiers Province, Algeria. It was named after its capital, Dar El Beïda.

Dar El Beïda (Arabic: الدار البيضاء; Berber languages: ⴷⴰⵔ ⵍⴱⴻⵢⴷⴰ) is a municipality and the seat of the eponymous district, in Algiers Province. It is located in the eastern suburbs of the capital, approximately 16 kilometers from Algiers city center, and lies at a crossroads linking the capital to the eastern and southern regions of the country. Historically, the settlement dates back to the 1840s, when it served as a stagecoach relay known as "Maison-Blanche" (White House) named after a whitewashed wooden building. Designated as a settlement center in 1851, it became an independent municipality in 1882, and gained new importance in 1936 with the development of commercial aviation. During World War II, the town played a significant role with the Anglo-American landings of Operation Torch in November 1942, and later served as an air and logistics base for the Allied forces. Today, Dar El Beïda has become a major financial and commercial hub, ranking among the municipalities with the highest budgetary resources nationally. It is home to Houari Boumediene Airport, the country's main international airport, and acts as a major transport hub connecting highway networks, railways, and future extensions of the Algiers Metro. Its economy is driven by a large industrial zone housing the headquarters of several major national companies as well as the commercial activity of the El Hamiz neighborhood, thereby reinforcing its role as an economic center and eastern gateway to the capital. It is bordered by Bordj El Kiffan to the north, Oued Smar and Les Eucalyptus to the south, Rouïba and Hammadi (Boumerdès Province) to the east, and Bab Ezzouar to the west.

The Houari Boumediene Airport railway station (French: Gare de l'Aéroport Houari Boumédiène, Arabic: محطة قطار مطار هواري بومدين) is an Algerian railway station located in the district of Dar El Beïda, in the province of Algiers. It serves the Algiers Airport.

Algiers Province (Arabic: ولاية الجزائر, romanized: Wilāyat al-Jazāʾir, pronounced [wilaːjat ald͡ʒazaːʔir]; Berber languages: ⵓⴳⴻⵣⴷⵓ ⵏ ⴷⵣⴰⵢⴻⵔ, romanized: ugezdu n Dzayer, French: wilaya d'Alger) is a province (wilayah) in Algeria, named after its capital, Algiers, which is also the national capital. It is the most populated province of Algeria, and also the smallest by area. In 1984, Boumerdès Province and Tipaza Province were carved out of its territory.

Bordj El Kiffan (Arabic 'برج الكيفان') is a suburb of the city of Algiers in northern Algeria. It is in the eastern section of the city, near Matares Beach. Named Fort de l'Eau (Fr. 'Water Fortress') under French rule prior to 1962, used to be a famous beach resort within the Bay of Algiers, complete with luxury hotels and a casino. Pollution from urbanization, nearby industrialization, and untreated sewage affected the status, and the beach was no longer popular since the late 1970s. The urban location, however, preserved some of its former recreational status. Today situated directly north (i.e. towards the Mediterranean sea) of the close-by Algiers' Houari Boumedienne international airport, with direct highway connection from the capital.

Yahia Boushaki (Arabic: يحي بوسحاقي, Kabyle: ⵢⴰⵃⵢⴰ ⴱⵓⵙⵃⴰⵇⵉ) is an Algiers residential, administrative and commercial neighbourhood located in the commune of Bab Ezzouar in Algeria.

Houari Boumediene International Airport (Arabic: مطار هواري بومدين الدولي, romanized: Maṭār Hawwārī Būmadyan al-Duwaliyy) (IATA: ALG, ICAO: DAAG), also known as Algiers Airport or Algiers International Airport, is the main international airport serving Algiers, the capital of Algeria. It is located 9.1 NM (16.9 km; 10.5 mi) east southeast of the city. The airport is named after Houari Boumediene (1932–1978), a former president of Algeria. Dar El Beïda, the area where the airport is located, was known as Maison Blanche ('White House'), and the airport is called Maison Blanche Airport in much of the literature about the Algerian War of Independence. The SGSIA (French: Société de Gestion des Services et Infrastructures Aéroportuaires), more commonly known as 'Airport of Algiers', is a public company established on 1 November 2006 to manage and operate the airport. The SGSIA has 2,100 employees.

El Alia Cemetery (Arabic: مقبرة العالية) is a cemetery in a suburb of Algiers in the commune of Oued Smar in Algeria. The name "El Alia" means in Arabic which is high, but came from the surname of the donor of the land in 1928, Hamza El-Alia.

El Hamiz (Arabic: الحميز; Tifinagh: ⴻⵍ ⵀⴰⵎⵉⵣ) is a commercial and residential suburb in the municipality of Dar El Beïda in Algiers, Algeria, with a population of approximately 46,000 as of 2016. Historically, the locality was known as Haouch El Bey, as it formed an agricultural estate belonging to the Bey of Constantine during the Ottoman era. The suburb's current name is derived from El Hamiz Valley, which flows adjacent to the area. State media and academic studies describe it as one of the main commercial and logistics hubs in the Algerian capital. Research published in spatial and geopolitical journals describes El Hamiz as a central node within transnational trade networks often referred to as the contemporary New Silk Road, connecting Algerian markets with manufacturing centers in China, serving as a primary national hub for the trade of home appliances, electronics, construction materials, and electrical goods. On an economic level, El Hamiz acts as a link between the Algerian market and international suppliers. Economic reports indicate that the suburb is considered a major commercial center alongside the city of El Eulma, attracting local merchants and representatives of foreign companies, particularly from China.

The Regency of Algiers (Arabic: الجزائر, romanized: al Jaza'ir) was a state in North Africa lasting from 1516 to 1830, until it was conquered by the French. Situated between the regency of Tunis in the east, the Sultanate of Morocco (from 1553) in the west and Tuat as well as the country south of In Salah in the south (and the Spanish and Portuguese possessions of North Africa), the Regency originally extended its borders from La Calle in the east to Trara in the west and from Algiers to Biskra, and afterwards spread to the present eastern and western borders of Algeria.It had various degrees of autonomy throughout its existence, in some cases reaching complete independence, recognized even by the Ottoman sultan. The country was initially governed by governors appointed by the Ottoman sultan (1518–1659), rulers appointed by the Odjak of Algiers (1659–1710), and then Deys elected by the Divan of Algiers from (1710-1830).
