Discovery is an unincorporated community in Frederick County, Maryland, United States. Discovery is located along Maryland Route 194 near the southern border of Walkersville. Prior to 2010, the community was part of the Discovery-Spring Garden census-designated place.

Discovery-Spring Garden is a former census-designated place in Frederick County, Maryland, United States. It is the combination of the two unincorporated communities of Discovery and Spring Garden. As of the 2000 census, the population was 2,152; its population was not counted in 2010.

Tuscarora Creek is a 7.7-mile-long (12.4 km) tributary of the Monocacy River in Frederick County, Maryland, in the United States. The creek rises at the eastern base of Catoctin Mountain, about 6.5 miles (10.5 km) north-northwest of the city of Frederick, and flows southeast about to its mouth at the Monocacy. The creek's watershed area is 15.28 square miles (39.6 km2).

The Beatty-Cramer House was built near Israels Creek in Frederick County, Maryland, circa 1748. The oldest house in Frederick County, it is an unusual example of Dutch-influenced construction practices, more typically found in the Hudson Valley. It is the only known example of mixed Dutch, English and American framing and construction methods in Maryland.

The Crum Road Bridge is a historic bridge near Frederick, Frederick County, Maryland, United States. It spanned Israel Creek southeast of Walkersville. The bridge is an iron bowstring pony bridge that is 62 feet (19 m) in length and 15.8 feet (4.8 m) in width. The Crum Road Bridge was built on or about 1875, and was probably constructed by the King Iron Bridge Company of Cleveland, Ohio.The Crum Road Bridge was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1978. It was then listed in the Historic American Engineering Record in 1993. In 1995, the bridge was removed from its original location on Crum Road over Israel Creek to be replaced by a new wide span concrete bridge. The Crum Road Bridge was relocated to the Heritage Farm Park, located several miles west off of Devilbiss Bridge Road for possible future use as a pedestrian bridge. It was again relocated when it was removed from Heritage Farm Park in 2004. It is currently located in Ballenger Creek Park.

Biggs Ford Site is an archaeological site near Frederick in Frederick County, Maryland. It is one of the few known, large late prehistoric Native American village sites near the Monocacy River. The site dates from the Middle to Late Woodland period.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1975.

The Frederick National Laboratory for Cancer Research (FNLCR) is a United States federally funded research and development center (FFRDC) supported by the National Cancer Institute and managed by the private contractor Leidos Biomedical Research. The institution was originally established under the name Frederick Cancer Research and Development Center in 1972 as a component of President Richard Nixon's War on Cancer initiative. In 2012, the institution received a national laboratory designation and assumed its current name, becoming the only U.S. national laboratory exclusively dedicated to biomedical research. The campus in Frederick, Maryland, also houses National Cancer Institute laboratories and administrative organizations, and is colloquially referred to as NCI-Frederick.

The Monocacy River Railroad Bridge and Viaduct is a 326-foot (99 m) open deck steel girder bridge with two main spans crossing the river and two viaduct sections crossing the floodplain, south of Walkersville, Maryland. Originally constructed by the Frederick and Pennsylvania Line Railroad Company (F&PL). Construction began in late 1871, and continued until July 1872 when the railroad opened that year. It was rebuilt by the Pennsylvania Railroad prior first in 1900-1905 as an open deck riveted iron plate under girder bridge. In 1915, the bridge was surveyed as part of the Interstate Commerce Commission's ("ICC") effort to establish freight rates for the Parent railroad. In 1927, the Pennsylvania Railroad rebuilt the bridge again using deeper and thicker steel girders, but leaving the masonry piers intact. In 1972, the two 85 foot river spans were washed out by Hurricane Agnes. In 1982, the State of Maryland purchased the bridge as part of the railroad line. In 1995, the State rebuilt the river spans and Pier 3 which is located in the middle of the river crossing was completely reconstructed using concrete to replace the original masonry foundations. In 2015, the State performed minor maintenance on the structure and painted some spans. As of 2016, the bridge is in active rail service, operated by the Walkersville Southern RR.

The Tuscarora Creek bridge is a 63.5-foot (19.4 m) single-span, steel, through-girder bridge with a floor beam/stringer system supporting a 12-inch-thick concrete slab south of Walkersville, Maryland. Originally constructed by the Frederick and Pennsylvania Line Railroad Company (F&PL) in 1872. It was later rebuilt by the Pennsylvania Railroad in 1907 as a thru girder concrete deck bridge using an older bridge from the Northern Central Railway. In 1915, the bridge was surveyed as part of the Interstate Commerce Commission's effort to establish freight rates for the Parent railroad. As of 2021, the bridge is in active rail service, operated by the Walkersville Southern RR.
