The Newport Beach Tennis Club is a tennis club located in Newport Beach, California with an entrance at 2601 Eastbluff Drive.The club opened in 1966 on land owned by George Holstein, who developed Eastbluff and partnered with Larry Johnson. They hired renowned tennis professional, Dick Skeen to design the Club and be the first General Manager. It has 19 tennis courts with lighting, a junior Olympic swimming pool and a fitness center. There is also a pro shop, a restaurant, a bar, and available catering service. Rod Laver and Roy Emerson were early members in the sixties and Tony Prodan was the longtime Head Tennis Professional. The club is situated on 7.5 acres (3 hectares) of land.The United States, Captained by Tony Trabert, played South Africa at the Club in the 1977 Davis Cup Americas Zone Semifinals.On January 27, 2016, the Orange County Breakers of World Team Tennis announced that they would play their home matches at the Newport Beach Tennis Club. Breakers coach Rick Leach gives lessons at the club.

The San Joaquin Wash is a stream in Irvine, Orange County, California and is a tributary of San Diego Creek. Its watershed includes part of the northern San Joaquin Hills, for which it is named. It flows west-northwest for about 6 miles (9.7 km) before joining San Diego Creek near University of California, Irvine.

Bonita Creek is a stream in the city of Newport Beach, Orange County, California. It flows for about 3 miles (4.8 km) northwest from the San Joaquin Reservoir to its confluence with the San Diego Creek near Upper Newport Bay.

The Upper Newport Bay (known locally as "The Back Bay") is a large coastal wetland (an estuary) in Newport Beach, Southern California and a major stopover for birds on the Pacific Flyway. Dozens of species, including endangered ones, can be observed here. Upper Newport Bay Nature Preserve and Ecological Reserve represent approximately 1,000 acres (4 km2) of open space. The Upper Newport Bay was purchased by the state in 1975 for its Fish and Wildlife Department's Ecological Reserve System. In 1985 the upper west bluffs and lands surrounding the bay became part of an Orange County regional park, which offers outdoor activities such as bird-watching, jogging, bicycling, hiking, and kayaking. The Peter and Mary Muth Interpretive Center, located at 2301 University Drive, is open to the public Tuesday through Sunday from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM. An organization known as the Newport Bay Conservancy (NBC) provides volunteers to answer visitors' questions and guide them through the various activities. The bay is recognized for protection by the California Bays and Estuaries Policy.The main tributary of the Upper Newport Bay is San Diego Creek, which flows past the San Joaquin Wildlife Sanctuary before entering the bay. The bay is connected to the Pacific Ocean through the lower Newport Bay, the harbor of Newport Beach.

Corona del Mar High School (CdM) is a public school located in the Eastbluff neighborhood of Newport Beach, California, and belongs to the Newport-Mesa Unified School District. It is a combination of a middle school (7th and 8th grades) and a high school (9th, 10th, 11th, and 12th grades). The school was founded in 1962 and has an enrollment of approximately 2,100 students. The school covers an area of just over 1,700,000 square feet. According to US News, there are 92 full-time teachers. It has been ranked by Newsweek as one of the top 200 high schools in the United States, and it has been a state champion in several sports. However, it has also been featured in the national media for scandals involving homophobia, sexism, and academic dishonesty.

Santa Ana Heights is a community in Orange County, California. The eastern part is located within the city limits of Newport Beach. The community is surrounded by John Wayne Airport and Costa Mesa. Santa Ana Heights is zoned for more moderate income families, which provides for more modest homes in Newport Beach. It is generally a residential area, with a variety of housing types to suit all families that live in the Santa Ana area. The name is referred to the small foothills that the area is set on. The unincorporated part of Santa Ana Heights has been a subject of an annexation debate between Costa Mesa and Newport Beach. Orange County found Santa Ana to be the most well equipped city to care for the community, but a vote in 2002 removed this as a possibility. It is included in the city of Costa Mesa's "sphere of influence", which is expected to change to Newport Beach's sphere of influence as the annexation process furthers. The community is inside area code 949. Santa Ana Heights was annexed to the city of Newport Beach in two segments. The area east of Irvine Avenue came into the city in January 2002 and the area west of Irvine Avenue came in on January 1, 2008.

Buffalo Ranch was a tourist attraction which was operated on 115 acres (0.47 km2) in what is today Newport Beach, California by Gene Clark of the Irvine Company and the grandson of the famous Indian chief Geronimo. It was the first outside business to be allowed onto land owned by The Irvine Company. The ranch began with a herd of 72 buffalo, and this number quickly grew. Several Indian families from Kansas were invited to live in the area and work at the Ranch to add to its authenticity and present various tribal dances for the tourists. Bison Road, which exists today as a connection between Jamboree and MacArthur roads in Newport Beach, was originally created as an access road to Buffalo Ranch.

Located on the campus of the University of California, Irvine in Irvine, California, an independent nonprofit corporation was created in 1982, under the leadership of Michael W. Berns, and the actual facility opened on June 4, 1986. It is one of a number of institutions focused on translational research, connecting research and medical applications. Researchers at the institute have developed laser techniques for the manipulation of structures within a living cell, and applied them medically in treatment of skin conditions, stroke, and cancer, among others.
