St John's Church, Wroxall

Wroxall is a village and civil parish in the central south of the Isle of Wight. It is close to Appuldurcombe House.The parish church is St. John's Church, Wroxall. Bus services operated by Southern Vectis link the village with the towns of Newport, Ryde, Sandown, Shanklin and Ventnor, as well as intermediate villages.

Wroxall railway station was an intermediate station on the Isle of Wight Railway line from Ryde, situated between Shanklin and Ventnor with an upland situation. To the north lay Apse Bank with its three miles of 1 in 70 gradient and three bridges. The gradient eased in the station but increased again to 1 in 88 as Ventnor Tunnel was approached.

Appuldurcombe House (also spelt Appledorecombe or Appledore Combe) is the shell of a large 18th-century English Baroque country house of the Worsley family. The house is situated near to Wroxall on the Isle of Wight, England. It is now managed by English Heritage and is open to the public. A small part of the 300-acre (1.2 km2; 0.47 sq mi) estate that once surrounded it is still intact, but other features of the estate are still visible in the surrounding farmland and nearby village of Wroxall, including the entrance to the park, the Freemantle Gate, now used only by farm animals and pedestrians.

Sandford is a hamlet on the Isle of Wight. Sandford is on the outskirts of Godshill (where the 2011 population was listed) in the southeast part of the island. Sandford has a latitude of 50°37′48.23″N 1°13′45.63″W. Sandford is located on the A 3020 road and public transport is provided by bus route 2 and 3, run by Southern Vectis. Sandford hosts several businesses, including some farms and a boarding cattery. The Sandford Primitive Methodist Chapel is in Sandford.Sandford has an entry in the Domesday Book of 1086. There were two mills in Sandford. Sandford was the site of brickmaking operations in the past.

Whiteley Bank, also spelled "Whitely Bank", is a small village or hamlet on the Isle of Wight, United Kingdom. It is located two miles west of Shanklin and five and a half miles (8.9 km) south-east of Newport. It is mainly known by the crossroads, now styled as a mini-roundabout, between the A3020, B3327 and Canteen Road to Apse Heath. Whiteley Bank is in Newchurch Parish. Whiteley Bank is the home of the Isle of Wight Donkey Sanctuary. The Donkey Sanctuary was established in 1987 to provide a safe home for donkeys in distress. It currently houses about 200 animals. It was originally in Newport but had to be moved to Whiteley Bank to accommodate more animals. America Wood is a SSSI located between Whiteley Bank and Shanklin. It is served by Southern Vectis buses on routes 2 and 3. There used to be a public telephone. Whiteley Bank House is a nursing home in Whiteley Bank. It was also home to the infamous "One Acre Festival", which saw crowds of no less than 30 people in an acre field, appreciating the islands local bands.

Rew Down is a 23.5-hectare biological Site of Special Scientific Interest and Local Nature Reserve located on the south-east edge of the Isle of Wight in the hills to the west of Ventnor. The area is a chalk grassland sloping to the south and offering panoramic and far-reaching views of the English Channel. It has the Stenbury Trail running along its western boundary and the Ventnor golf club to the north. It is managed by the Isle of Wight Council and is noted for its Highland cattle, which have grazed the land since 2003. The area contains the remains of the tower base of, Historic England Grade II listed, Royal Navy World War II direction finding (D/F) station (one of the'Y-stations'), Ventnor, which is believed to be the most complete of its type still extant.

Stenbury Down is a chalk down on the Isle of Wight. It is located close to the town of Ventnor, in the southeast of the island, and rises to 226 metres at its highest point, west of Wroxall, Isle of Wight. Stenbury Down is an elongate down running approximately north to south. At the north end of Stenbury Down, also called Appuldurcombe Down, there is an obelisk erected in 1774 by Sir Richard Worsley in memory of Sir Robert Worsley of Appuldurcombe House. The monument was struck by lightning in 1831 and partially demolished. In 1983 it was restored to its current state by General Sir Richard Worsley with assistance from the Isle of Wight Council and the people of Gatcombe Parish. There are also two prominent radio masts. The northern end terminates in the Gat Cliff, whereas the southern end transition into Week Down. Vehicle access is available via Rew Lane and a steep unnamed road.

Ventnor railway station was the terminus of the Isle of Wight Railway line from Ryde.

Ventnor () is a seaside resort town and civil parish established in the Victorian era on the southeast coast of the Isle of Wight, England, eleven miles (18 km) from Newport. It is situated south of St Boniface Down, and built on steep slopes leading down to the sea. The higher part is referred to as Upper Ventnor (officially Lowtherville); the lower part, where most amenities are located, is known as Ventnor. Ventnor is sometimes taken to include the nearby and older settlements of St Lawrence and Bonchurch, which are covered by its town council. The population is 5,567 according to the 2021 CensusVentnor became extremely fashionable as both a health and holiday resort in the late 19th century, described as the 'English Mediterranean' and 'Mayfair by the Sea'. Medical advances during the early twentieth century reduced its role as a health resort and, like other British seaside resorts, its summer holiday trade suffered from the changing nature of travel during the latter part of the century. Its relatively sheltered location beneath the hilly chalk downland and south-facing orientation towards the English Channel produces a microclimate with more sunny days and fewer frosts than the rest of the island. This allows many species of subtropical plant to flourish; Ventnor Botanic Garden is particularly notable. Ventnor retains a strongly Victorian character, has an active arts scene, and is regaining popularity as a place to visit.

Ventnor West railway station was in operation from 1900 to 1952 in Ventnor, Isle of Wight.

Greatwood And Cliff Copses are two wooded areas totalling 16.3 hectares which are a Site of special scientific interest to the southwest of Shanklin. The site was notified in 1986 for its biological features.

St Catherine's School, in Ventnor, on the Isle of Wight in the United Kingdom, is an independent non-maintained residential special school for children and young people aged seven to 19 years who have speech, language and communication needs. The school has charitable status. Many students have multiple conditions and a range of abilities are supported.
