The Sacred Heart Monastery in Kensington, New South Wales, is a monastery of the Catholic men's religious order, the Missionaries of the Sacred Heart (MSCs). Since its establishment in 1897 it has played a leading role in the Catholic life of Sydney.

Carthona is a heritage-listed residence in Kensington, City of Randwick, New South Wales, Australia. It was built in 1910. It was added to the New South Wales State Heritage Register on 2 April 1999.

The National Institute of Dramatic Art (NIDA) is an Australian educational institution for the performing arts based in Sydney, New South Wales. Founded in 1958, many of Australia's leading actors and directors trained at NIDA, including Cate Blanchett, Sarah Snook, Mel Gibson, Judy Davis and Baz Luhrmann. NIDA's main campus is based in the Sydney suburb of Kensington, located adjacent to the University of New South Wales (UNSW), and is made up of a range of rehearsal and performance venues. Its performance venues include the Parade Theatre (also the name of an earlier venue in NIDA's history); the Space; the Studio Theatre; and the Playhouse, while the Rodney Seaborn Library forms part of its library and the Reg Grundy Studio is a training and production facility for film and television. NIDA offers bachelor's, master's and vocational degrees in subjects including acting, writing, directing, scenic construction, technical theatre, voice, costume, props, production design and cultural leadership.

Screenwise is an Australian film and television school for actors based in Surry Hills, Sydney. The school, established in 2000 and using only Australian Film Institute Award winners as teachers, is overseen by actor Denise Roberts. By June 2010, Screenwise was considered one of Australia's leading film and television schools for actors.

Kensington is a suburb in the eastern suburbs of Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. It is located four kilometres south-east of the Sydney central business district, in the local government area (LGA) of the City of Randwick. Kensington lies to the immediate south of Moore Park and west of Randwick Racecourse. The principal landmarks of the suburb are the main campus of the University of New South Wales, National Institute of Dramatic Art and the Australian Golf Club. Kensington is also a residential suburb close to the Sydney central business district.

The Australian Golf Club is a golf club located in Rosebery, a suburb of Sydney, Australia. Although it survived numerous course location changes, it is arguably the oldest golf club in Australia. To date the course has held 20 Australian Open events and most recently in 2017 the event was won by Australian Cameron Davis. The course has been rated the 9th best in the country.

The Indigenous Law Centre (ILC), formerly the Aboriginal Law Research Unit and Aboriginal Law Centre, is part of the Law Faculty at the University of New South Wales. It develops and coordinates research, teaching and information services in the multi-disciplinary area of Indigenous peoples and the law, and publishes two major journals: the Australian Indigenous Law Review (formerly Australian Indigenous Law Reporter) and the Indigenous Law Bulletin (formerly Aboriginal Law Bulletin). It is the only Indigenous law research centre in Australia.

The Faculty of Law and Justice of the University of New South Wales is a law school situated in Sydney, Australia. It is widely regarded as one of Australia's top law schools. The 2021 QS World University Rankings rank the UNSW Law Faculty 13th in the world, first for undergraduate law in Australia, (with the Melbourne Law School only offering a Juris Doctor sequence) 2nd overall in Australia and 3rd in the Asia-Pacific region, and the 2021 Times Higher Education subject rankings also rank it second in Australia, making it the top ranked law school in New South Wales according to both tables, as well as being the top undergraduate Law school in the country.The Faculty comprises the School of Global and Public Law; the School of Criminal Justice, Law and Society; and the School of Corporate and Private Law. It further comprises 13 affiliated research and specialist legal centres, including a community legal centre, the Kingsford Legal Centre, as well as the Refugee Advice and Casework Service. The Faculty is also co-founder and operator of the Australasian Legal Information Institute (AustLII), which provides free access to case law, legislation and other primary legal resources online. It offers legal education for all career stages: undergraduate law dual degree programs, the Juris Doctor for graduates, postgraduate coursework, postgraduate research, and continuing legal education short courses.

Kensington racecourse is a now-closed pony racecourse on the current site of the University of New South Wales in the suburb of Kensington, Sydney, Australia. The course was in operation between 1893 and 1942, and during the Boer War and World Wars I and II it was taken over as a military camp. Many of the first Anzacs trained at Kensington Racecourse in 1914 before leaving for Egypt and Gallipoli. An extensive account of the training in late 1914 appears in the diary of Archie Barwick.A migrant hostel was located on the site in the late 1940s. Construction of the University began in 1951. The Old Tote building of the racecourse survived and in the 1960s and 1970s was the home of the Old Tote Theatre Company. It is now the Figtree Theatre in the grounds of UNSW.

Zetland is an inner southern suburb of Sydney, New South Wales, Australia 4 kilometres south of the Sydney central business district, in the local government area of the City of Sydney. Zetland is part of the Green Square Town Centre district which is an affluent area due to its close proximity to Commonwealth Bank's campus-style headquarters, as well as other high-income employers in the financial services, software, and technology industries. The Green Square Plaza is surrounded by Sydney's newest high street, Ebsworth Street, the Gunyama Park Aquatic Centre, parklands, upscale and luxurious apartments, a library, and retail tenancies controlled by Mirvac. According to the 2021 Census, Zetland had the highest number of Brazilians living in Sydney. Over 2% of residents in Zetland were born in Brazil, which is higher than the beachside suburbs of Bondi Beach, Tamarama, and Bronte. Over 2% of the residents in Zetland speak Portuguese, and approximately 5% of the residents in Zetland speak Portuguese and Spanish. This is higher than the suburb of Petersham, which was previously known as the suburb with the highest percentage of Portuguese speakers.Zetland is a residential suburb with medium- to high-density residential areas.

Victoria Park Racecourse was a racecourse in Zetland, an inner-city suburb, south of Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. It was bordered by O’Dea Avenue, South Dowling Street, Epsom Road and Joynton Avenue. The site was originally a lagoon and swamp which was drained in the early 1900s to create the racecourse. The racecourse was developed and privately owned by Sir James John Joynton Smith (1858–1943), a hotelier, racecourse and newspaper owner. It was said at the time to be the grandest and finest of the pony horseracing course in Sydney.In 1908, a clay-and-cinder track, 1.81 kilometres in length, was built around the horseracing course, which was used for speedway racing by both cars and motorcycles until the early 1920s. The first motor racing meeting was held on 6 October 1908 and unusually, the schedule consisted of six horse races followed by two heats and a final of the One Hundred Guinea Handicap car race. Due to delays during the horse races, the final was postponed until 8 October and was won by Fred Howarth driving a Sizaire-Naudin.In 1909, the first powered flight in Australia took place there in a Wright Model A aeroplane named "The Stella". The pilot was Colin Defries. Although only flying 120 yards (110 m) at 15 feet (4.6 m), it is acknowledged by Australian historians[6] and the Aviation Historical Society of Australia, that the definition of flight established by the Gorell Committee on behalf of the Aero Club of Great Britain gives Colin Defries credit as the first to make an aeroplane flight in Australia. A 20-page booklet entitled The History of Aviation Souvenir Australian Tour by Ambrose Pratt, under direction of J & N Tait (price 6d), was issued at the time. It contains pictures of the pilot and the plane, as well as a seated passenger, with caption "preparing to fly". During World War II, the site was used for an aircraft factory. In 1945 it reopened as a horse training course.The racecourse was bought by British businessman Lord Nuffield in 1947, and from 1950 the site was used by Nuffield Australia for a motor vehicle assembly facility. Vehicle production was continued by Nuffield Australia and its successors BMC Australia and Leyland Australia until the factory was closed in 1975.The site was acquired by the Commonwealth of Australia for a naval stores depot which operated until the mid-1990s. The site is currently undergoing redevelopment into high density housing. A three-storey totalisator building remains on the site, which has been used as a site office by the redevelopers, and will become the Green Square library. The racecourse is also remembered in the name of in Tote Park, a small park on the site.

Royal Randwick Racecourse is a racecourse for horse racing located in the Eastern Suburbs of Sydney, New South Wales. Randwick Racecourse is Crown Land leased to the Australian Turf Club and known to many Sydney racegoers as headquarters. The racecourse is located about six kilometres south-east from the Sydney Central Business District in the suburb of Randwick. The course proper has a circumference of 2224m with a home straight of 410m.On 14 October 2017, the inaugural running of The Everest was held at Royal Randwick. The Everest is the richest race in Australia and the richest turf race in the world with $15 million in prize money.Since 2014, Randwick hosts The Championships, a two-day season-ending meeting in April that offers over AUD$20 million in prize money. It features several Group 1 races such as the Australian Derby, Doncaster Handicap and Queen Elizabeth Stakes. Other annual events include the Sydney Carnival, Spring Carnival and the Chinese Festival of Racing.
