Mala is a small town in Thrissur district of Kerala state, India. There is a Jewish synagogue in Mala town. At the moment, it is in ruins. The famous Pambu Mekkattu Mana (temple) is located here and attracts thousands of devotees every year.

Painkulam (Malayalam: പൈങ്കുളം) is a village in Panjal Grama Panchayat in Thrissur district in the state of Kerala, India. The village, situated on the shores of Bharathappuzha, is the birthplace of Late Raman Chakyar, who was a leader with a vision and a mission to the world of art. He taught the temple arts Koodiyattam and Chakyar Koothu to non Chakyar castes and democratized the art form. Painkulam village has a government upper primary school, several preschool nurseries and a local library (Grameena Vayanasala). An aqueduct, built in 1960s by the irrigation department, is a major attraction in the village. Vazhalikkavu Temple is situated in Painkulam, this evergreen location (One side forest area, one side Bharathapuzha, and vayal) provide a good situation to pilgrims. The festival is basically the birthday of Devi and this is the event which is celebrated by all the localities irrespective of caste and race. When the elephants are decorated with 'Caparison', it will become a charm of the festival. The 'Panchavadhyam' and fireworks is really fabulous. A very old "Kootharangu" is also located near to the temple. The limits of the village are Thozhuppadam, Killimangalam, Panjal and Cheruthuruthy villages. The 'Vela' of Venganellur Desam starts from here to Anthimahakalan Temple as part of the festival. NMLP School is the school which offers public instruction. The headquarters of Venganellur Service Cooperative Bank is at Venganellur.

Asurankund Dam is a check dam located on the Chelakkara River in the Indian state of Kerala. It is located in Mullurkara Panchayat in Thrissur district.The dam at Asurankundu is about 30 km from Thrissur. If one turns right off the Vadakkanchery-Mulloorkara road and follows the forest path for some distance, they will reach the check-post of the forest department. The permission to go further inside and closer to the dam can be obtained here. Asurankundu is on the northern side of the Peechi-Vazhani wildlife sanctuary. The Asurankundu dam serves the purpose of collecting the water coming out from the forests and hills surrounding it. There are recommendations to include the Asurankundu dam also in the tourism corridor involving the Peechi-Vazhani-Poomala dams. Boat rides and a hanging bridge are being considered. The dam belongs to the irrigation department and the road to the forest department. There is a two-kilometer walk into the forest. During summers, trekking is discouraged as even a small spark can result in wildfires and the entire forest could be destroyed. The best time to visit is the rainy season.

Centres in the village, other than Killimangalam, include Uduvadi and Chiramgonam. The Killimangalam Angadikkavu Vela is the festival of the village. Three temples—thekkumuri parappatta shiva temple, Kizhakkumuri keezhillam, and killimangalam angadikkavu temple—participate in the vela maholtsavam, which takes place in February or March.
