Dr. Palpu College of Arts and Science managed by Sree Narayana Trust, Vamanapuram, was launched as a self financing college affiliated to the University of Kerala in 2014. Named after Dr. Padmanabhan Palpu, a great social reformer inspired by the teachings of Sree Narayana Guru, the college is avowed to providing quality education without discrimination of any sort—caste, creed or social standing. The rock structure is 840 metre above sea level, and is developed as an eco-tourism project by the Kerala Forest Department. The spot is around 1 km away from Anakkulam junction, and is approachable from Channapetta in the north. Four districts of Kerala and a small part of Tamil Nadu can be viewed from top of the second tallest rock.
