Maur Hill–Mount Academy is a coed Catholic, college prep, boarding high school in Atchison, Kansas. It is located in the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Kansas City in Kansas and sponsored by the St. Benedict's Abbey (monastery) and Mount St. Scholastica (convent) in Atchison, KS. It became Maur Hill–Mount Academy with the merger of the two long established schools: Maur Hill Prep School (1919) was an all-boys school and Mount St. Scholastica Academy (1863), an all-girls school. The student population is around 190-220 students (about 80-90 boarding and 100-120 day students from the surrounding area. Boarding students attend from many states across the US and approximately 50 of the boarding students are international students.

The Price Villa is a historic house in Atchison, Kansas. It was built in 1872 for John M. Price, a politician. It was acquired by Benedictine Sisters in 1877, and it became home to Mount St. Scholastica College's Music department.The house was designed by architects Thomas Wise and F. W. MeLaughlif in the Renaissance style. It has been listed on the National Register of Historic Places since March 16, 1972.

Trinity Episcopal Church is a historic Episcopal church in Atchison, Kansas. The church building was constructed in 1866. Aviator Amelia Earhart was baptized in the church in 1897 and attended the church as a child. She was born nearby in the Amelia Earhart Birthplace. The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1985.

The Amelia Earhart Memorial Bridge is a network tied arch bridge over the Missouri River on U.S. Route 59 between Atchison, Kansas and Buchanan County, Missouri. It opened in December 2012, replacing a previous truss bridge with the same name. The bridge is decorated with LED lighting which can be programmed to change for various functions. Pictures of the bridge with its arch lights in red, white, blue giving the illusion of a fluttering American flag when reflected in the Missouri River is widely circulated in social media.

Atchison County Historical Society Museum is a museum dedicated to preserving the history of Atchison County, Kansas. Both the city of Atchison and Atchison County, Kansas, are named after United States Senator and legendary "President for a day" David Rice Atchison. The Atchison County Historical Society & Museum is located in the historic 1880 Santa Fe Freight Depot (200 S. 10th Street) in Atchison, Kansas. Dedicated to telling the story of Atchison County, Kansas, the museum features exhibits on Lewis and Clark, Amelia Earhart, Jesse Stone, the railroad history of Atchison County, the David Rice Atchison World's Smallest "unofficial" Presidential Library and a military collection with over 200 weapons spanning the Revolutionary War, Civil War and both World Wars. The Atchison County Historical Society also operates the Independence Creek: Lewis & Clark Historic Site (located at 19917 314th Road in Atchison County) covering 13.5 acres of native grasses and wildflowers and a re-creation of a Kanza Indian earth lodge, connected by a 5-mile hiking/biking trail to the Atchison riverfront. The museum also hosts regular temporary and traveling exhibits. From 27 June to 9 August 2015, it hosted a Smithsonian traveling exhibit called "Hometown Teams."

Winthrop is an unincorporated community in southwest Buchanan County, in the U.S. state of Missouri. The community is just east of the Missouri River and Atchison, Kansas on US Route 59 and Missouri routes 45 and 273. Rushville is approximately 4.5 miles northeast on US Route 59 and Lewis and Clark Village adjacent to the Louis and Clark State Park and lake is 3.5 miles southeast.

The Robert L. Pease House is a historic house in Atchison, Kansas. It was built in 1879 for Robert L. Pease, the cashier of the Bank of the State of Kansas. He later worked for the National Mail Company. Pease lived in the house with his wife, Amanda Van Atta Skidmore.The house was designed in the Italianate architectural style. It has been listed on the National Register of Historic Places since August 26, 1983.

The W. W. Hetherington House is a historic house in Atchison, Kansas. It was built in 1879 for Webster Wirt Hetherington, the second president of Atchison's Exchange National Bank, founded by his father William.The house was designed in the Romanesque architectural style by Alfred Meier. It has been listed on the National Register of Historic Places since July 12, 1974.

The Amelia Earhart Birthplace is a historic building and museum that was the birthplace of aviatrix Amelia Earhart. It is located at 223 N. Terrace St. in Atchison, Kansas, United States. The house was built in 1861 in a Gothic Revival style and is on a bluff overlooking the Missouri River. There was one major addition to the home in 1873, during which the formal dining room, cook's quarters, and a back porch were added. In 1897 Amelia Earhart was born in the home, which belonged to her maternal grandfather, Alfred Gideon Otis (1827–1912), a former judge, president of the Atchison Savings Bank, and a leading citizen in Atchison. The Earhart family attended nearby Trinity Episcopal Church, where Amelia was baptized. The birthplace was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1971, and is now a museum featuring memorabilia and artifacts about Amelia Earhart. The house served as a private residence until 1984 when a local citizen, Dr. Eugene J. Bribach, contributed $100,000 to the Ninety-Nines to acquire the property. Since 1984 the building has been maintained by the Ninety-Nines, an international group of female pilots of whom Amelia was the first elected president.

The Frederick W. Stein House is a historic house in Atchison, Kansas. It was built in 1948 for Frederick W. Stein, the founder and president of the Steinlite Corporation, and his wife, née Helen Moore. Stein's company sold the Steinlite Moisture Tester. By the late 1940s, Stein served as Atchison's mayor.The house was designed by George J. Davidson and G. Alden Krider in the Classical Revival architectural style. It has been listed on the National Register of Historic Places since January 14, 2004.

The Frank Howard House is a historic house in Atchison, Kansas. It was built in 1884-1885 for Frank Howard, a dry goods merchant and clothing manufacturer.The house was designed by H. B. Prudden in the Stick-Eastlake architectural style. It has been listed on the National Register of Historic Places since October 15, 1984.

Atchison is a city and county seat of Atchison County, Kansas, United States, along the Missouri River. As of the 2020 census, the population of the city was 10,885. The city is named in honor of US Senator David Rice Atchison from Missouri and was the original eastern terminus of the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway. Atchison is also the home of Benedictine College.
