Merrylands railway station

Merrylands is a suburb in Western Sydney, Australia. Merrylands is located 25 kilometres west of the Sydney central business district and is in the local government area of the Cumberland City Council.

Naval Base Sydney was a United States Navy base built during World War II at Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. The base was built with Australian civilian contractors. As the US Navy expanded in the Island hopping campaign, Naval Base Sydney expanded to include a Naval Base Hospital, repair base and other facilities. US Navy operations started in 1943 and ended after the war in 1945.

Eric Tweedale Stadium (formerly Granville Park) is a multi-purpose sporting and recreation reserve in Merrylands, New South Wales. It is located on 13.2 hectares of land approximately 24 kilometres west of Sydney and was formally opened in 1887 by the then Mayor, John Nobbs. One of the first sports clubs to play at Granville Park was the Granville Royals Rugby Club in the late 1880s.The land was owned by the City of Parramatta until May 2017 when the newly created Cumberland Council inherited the park, as a result of New South Wales council mergers. The main field, known for sponsorship purposes as Merrylands RSL Rugby Park, is now the home ground of the Parramatta Two Blues club, founded in 1879, which competes in Sydney's premier rugby union competition, the Shute Shield. Total capacity for the ground is 5,000, of which 1,000 is seated. The clubhouse has a large hall suitable for hosting functions as well as changing room facilities and amenities. The main field has lighting suitable for hosting night time sports events. In 2021, the ground was renamed after the Australian rugby international and Two Blues player Eric Tweedale on the occasion of his 100th birthday.Granville Park is also one of the home grounds for the Greater Sydney Rams team that plays in the National Rugby Championship. The New South Wales Waratahs team plays occasional pre-season trial matches at the ground.There are also sporting facilities for soccer, cricket, and basketball. A children's Splash Park was built in 2014, and the reserve also has barbeque and picnic facilities.

Holroyd is a small suburb in western Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. Holroyd is located 20 kilometres (12 mi) west of the Sydney central business district in the local government area of the Cumberland Council. The previous local government area of Holroyd City took its name from Arthur Holroyd, first Mayor of the area, local landowner and businessman. The administrative centre is located in nearby Merrylands. Holroyd shares the postcode of 2142 with the separate nearby suburbs of Granville, South Granville, Camellia and Rosehill.

Delany College is an independent Roman Catholic comprehensive co-educational secondary day school, located in Granville, a western suburb of Sydney, New South Wales, Australia; in the tradition of the Patrician Brothers. Founded in 1942 as the Patrician Brothers' High School, the College is administratively overseen by the Catholic Education Office of the Diocese of Parramatta. Delany College has enrolment of approximately 550 students from Year 7 to Year 12. Students are drawn from a number of local catholic schools including Holy Trinity Primary, Granville; Holy Family Primary, Granville East; St Patrick's Primary, Guildford and St Margaret Mary's Primary, Merrylands.

The City of Holroyd was a local government area in the western suburbs of Sydney, in the state of New South Wales, Australia. First proclaimed in July 1872 as the "Municipal District of Prospect and Sherwood", it became the "Municipality of Prospect and Sherwood" from 1906 and in 1927 it was renamed the "Municipality of Holroyd" after Arthur Holroyd, the first mayor. From 1 January 1991, city status was granted, becoming the Holroyd City Council. The administrative centre of the City was located in the suburb of Merrylands, located approximately 25 kilometres (16 mi) west of the Sydney central business district. The final mayor of the Holroyd City Council was Councillor Greg Cummings, a member of the Labor Party. On 12 May 2016, the majority of Holroyd City Council merged into the newly formed Cumberland Council, with a small northern section merged into the newly re-formed City of Parramatta Council.

Mays Hill is a suburb of Sydney, in the state of New South Wales, Australia. Mays Hill is located 24 kilometres west of the Sydney central business district, in the local government areas of the Cumberland Council and City of Parramatta, and is part of the Greater Western Sydney region. Mays Hill has a stop on the T-80 T-Way bus service. It is also served by several CDC NSW bus routes.

Granville is a suburb in western Sydney, in the state of New South Wales, Australia. Granville is located 18 kilometres (11 mi) west of the Sydney central business district, split between the local government areas of Cumberland City Council and the City of Parramatta. South Granville is a separate suburb. Lisgar, Redfern, Heath and Mona Streets form the approximate border between Granville and South Granville. The Duck River provides a boundary with Auburn, to the east.

Granville Boys High School is a government-funded single-sex secondary day school, located at Granville a suburb in western Sydney, in the state of New South Wales, Australia. Granville Boys High School (abbreviated as GBHS) is an academically selective and comprehensive senior secondary day school for 530 boys, 99% of whom are from non-English speaking backgrounds.

Granville Town Hall is a heritage-listed former town hall at 10 Carlton Street, Granville, Cumberland Council, Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. It was designed by C. A. Harding (council chambers) and J. W. Hill (auditorium). The council chambers were built in 1888 by Banks and Whitehurst, with the auditorium added in 1900, to serve as the seat of the Municipality of Granville. The property is now owned by Cumberland Council since 2016, having been owned by the City of Parramatta since 1949. It was added to the New South Wales State Heritage Register on 5 December 2003.

Harris Park is a suburb of Greater Western Sydney, in the state of New South Wales, Australia. Harris Park is located 19 kilometres west of the Sydney central business district in the local government area of the City of Parramatta and is part of the Greater Western Sydney region. Harris Park has a plurality of Indian and Hindu population, both making up the largest ethnic and religious group. As a result a precinct in the suburb is officially known as 'Little India'.Harris Park is the home of several historic sites, including Experiment Farm.

The Granville rail/train disaster occurred on Tuesday 18 January 1977 at Granville, a western suburb of Sydney, New South Wales, Australia, when a crowded commuter train derailed, running into the supports of a road bridge that collapsed onto two of the train's passenger carriages. The official enquiry found the primary cause of the crash to be poor fastening of the track. It remains the worst rail disaster in Australian history: 83 people died, more than 213 were injured, and 1,300 were affected. An 84th victim, an unborn child, was added to the fatality list in 2017.
