Deep Falls is a historic home located at Chaptico, St. Mary's County, Maryland, United States. It began as a one-story four-room frame house that was reportedly built in 1745. The house was apparently extensively remodeled at some time during the last two decades of the 18th century then again during the mid 19th century. Deep Falls has always been in the ownership of the Thomas family, descendants of Governor James Thomas of Maryland and the famous Civil War spy Richard Thomas (Zarvona). The family is still in ownership of the property today. Deep Falls was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1975.

Bachelor's Hope is a historic home located at Chaptico, St. Mary's County, Maryland, listed as probably built between 1753 and 1790. It is known for the two-story brick central block with a jerkinhead roof, which contains one large ground-floor room. On either side are one-story, two-room brick wings. No other known 18th century structure in the state exists with a similar combination of the "Great Hall" plan, facade, and component features. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1972.

Potomac Speedway is a 3/8 mile clay oval raceway located in Budds Creek, Maryland, near Charlotte Hall. The raceway was first raced on in 1973. Races are typically held on Friday or Saturday nights. Regular events include Super Late Models, Limited Late Models, Street Stocks, and Hobby Stocks and 4 cylinders. The speedway also holds events for Modifieds, Crate Late Models, Strictly Stocks and Hornets. Potomac Speedway has a seating capacity of about 4,000 in the main grandstands and can hold an additional 1,000 in the pit area. The speedway typically draws top drivers from Maryland, Virginia, Pennsylvania, Delaware and West Virginia. Greg Gunter is the current promoter of the track.

Chopticon High School is a public high school located in Morganza, Maryland, United States. The school serves students in grades 9–12. It offers college preparatory programs and programs that prepare students for business and technical occupations. It serves the community in the northern portion of St. Mary's County, Maryland, between the Potomac River and Patuxent River. The area is mainly rural communities, with a recent rise in suburban development. Many of the families are employed by NAS Patuxent River, government contractors, St. Mary's College of Maryland, St Mary's County government, and traditional agriculture and water-related businesses. Chopticon High School is accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Secondary Schools and the Maryland State Department of Education. Morganza is an unincorporated community in St. Mary's County, Maryland, United States.Today, it is home to a few homes and St. Joseph's Catholic Church, which has been in the area since 1759. The current church on Route 5 along a curve at the top of the hill was built in 1860 and the Morganza Post Office was established there in 1867, named after the Morgan family. The post office is now located across from Chopticon High School.Morganza was home to two public one-room school houses, and the church opened a parochial school for white students in 1926 and for black children in 1927. These schools were begun by John LaFarge, S.J. He is noted for his many interracial writings and activities. Fr LaFarge was quoted as having said that his ministry among both the white and Afro-American parishioners taught him about racial injustice.St. Joseph's original cemetery is located at the bottom of the hill along Route 5 and for many years was forgotten under dense underbrush, but has since been cleared. Carpenters Island was an island located at the head of St. Clement's Bay in St. Mary's County, Maryland, patented in 1847 to Susan E. Carpenter, Amanda Carpenter, Rebecca Carpenter, and Matilda Carpenter and certified in the name of William Carpenter. The land patented included surrounding waters and measured one and three quarter acres. In 2005, the island was included in a list of "lost islands" of Chesapeake Bay, which is situated between Maryland and Virginia in the United States.
