The Monastery of the Forty Saint Martyrs (Greek: Ιερά Μονή των Αγιών Σαράντα Μαρτύρων, Iera Moni ton Agion Saranta Martyron) is a ruined Eastern Orthodox monastery overlooking the coastal city of Sarandë in southern Albania. The monastery was erected during the 6th century AD and possibly became for at least one millennium the most important pilgrimage site in the Ionian Sea region. The name of the monastery (Agioi Saranta in Greek meaning Forty Saints) was transferred to the adjacent city of Onchesmos. During the People's Republic of Albania (1944-1991) the site was transformed into a military installation. Today only a part of the side walls of its basilica type church survive.

Gjashtë (Albanian definite form: Gjashta) is a village in the municipality of Sarandë, Vlorë County, southwestern Albania.

Sarandë Airfield (ICAO: LASR) is a public use airfield located 3.7 kilometres east of Sarandë, Vlorë, Albania. As of 2023, most public domain sources consider the field as abandoned, based upon satellite imagery.

Sarandë (Albanian: [saˈɾandə]; Albanian definite form: Saranda; Greek: Άγιοι Σαράντα, romanized: Ágioi Saránta) is a city in the Republic of Albania and the seat of Sarandë Municipality. Geographically, the city is located on an open sea gulf of the Ionian Sea within the Mediterranean Sea. Stretching along the Albanian Ionian Sea Coast, Sarandë has a Mediterranean climate with over 300 sunny days a year. In ancient times, the city was known as Onchesmus or Onchesmos and was a port-town of Chaonia in ancient Epirus. It owes its modern name to the nearby Byzantine monastery of the Forty Saints (Agioi Saranda) by which it became known from the High Middle Ages. Sarandë today is known for its deep blue Mediterranean waters. Near Sarandë are the remains of the ancient city of Butrint, a UNESCO World Heritage site. In recent years, Sarandë has seen a steady increase in tourists, many of them coming by cruise ships. Visitors are attracted by the natural environment of Sarandë and its archaeological sites. Sarandë is inhabited by a majority of ethnic Albanians, and also has a minority Greek community and as such has been considered one of the two centers of the Greek minority in Albania.

Bistricë (definite: Bistrica) is a river in southwestern Albania. It ends in the Ionian Sea.

The Port of Sarandë or Sarandë Harbor is a port of Albania in the city of Sarandë. As of 2012, the port is undergoing an expansion to include a cruise line terminal. Stemming from the small size of the port, cruise lines cannot dock at the port. Instead, a fast boat serves tourists back and forth between cruises and the port.

Metoq (Albanian definite form: Metoqi; Greek: Μετόχι Metochi) is a village in Vlorë County, southwestern Albania. It is part of the municipality of Sarandë. It is located to the east of Sarandë, next to the village of Vrion. The village is primarily inhabited by ethnic Greeks. The ruins of two ancient Greek temples were found in the vicinity of the village. The village stands by the roads that connect Sarandë with the Albanian Riviera, as well as with the national road to Gjirokastër.

Chaonia or Chaon (Ancient Greek: Χαονία or Χάων) was the name of the northwestern part of Epirus, the homeland of the Epirote Greek tribe of the Chaonians. It was one of the three main areas of ethnic division of Epirus, the other being Molossia and Thesprotia. Chaonia traditionally stretched between the Thyamis river in the south and the Akrokeraunian range in the north, between present-day Greece and Albania. Its main town was called Phoenice. In Virgil's Aeneid, Chaon was the eponymous ancestor of the Chaonians.

Vrion (Albanian definite form: Vrioni; Greek: Βρυώνι) is a village in Vlorë County, southwestern Albania. It is part of the municipality Finiq. It is located to the east of Sarandë, next to the village of Metoq. Vrion is inhabited solely by Greeks.

Bregas (Albanian definite form: Bregasi; Greek: Βρωμερό or Βρεμερό) is a village in Vlorë County, southwestern Albania. It is part of the municipality Finiq. It is located to the north of Sarandë, northwest of Metoq, Sheleqar and Vrion, southwest of Karanxh and west of Finiq. Bregas is inhabited solely by Greeks. In the place situated a christian orthodox church dedicated to St. Paraskevi (Paraskevi of Rome).

Finiq (Albanian: Finiq, Albanian definite form: Finiqi, Greek: Φοινίκη, romanized: Foiniki) is a settlement, considered a town or village, and municipality in Vlorë County, in southern Albania located 8 km from the Ionian Sea and 20 km north of the Greek border. It was formed at the 2015 local government reform by the merger of the former communes Aliko, Dhivër, Livadhja, Mesopotam, and Finiq itself. It is inhabited by ethnic Greeks and is one of two municipalities in Albania in which Greeks form a majority, alongside Dropull. The seat of the municipality is the village Dërmish. The total population is 10,529 (2011 census), in a total area of 444.28 km2. The population of the former municipality at the 2011 census was 1,333; according to the civil offices, which count all citizens including those who live abroad, was 6,780 (2011 estimate).

Karahaxhë (Albanian definite form: Karahaxha; Greek: Καραχάτζι, romanized: Karahátzi) is a small village in Vlorë County, southern Albania. At the 2015 local government reform it became part of the municipality of Finiq. It is inhabited solely by Greeks.
