As of 31 December 2004, it had a population of 311 and an area of 9.4 square kilometres (3.6 sq mi).Bozzole borders the following municipalities: Pomaro Monferrato, Sartirana Lomellina, Torre Beretti e Castellaro, Valenza, and Valmacca.

The Rotaldo, known in its upper course as the Laio, is a 40-kilometre (25 mi) river (classified as a torrente) of northern Italy, and a right-side tributary of the Po River. Most of its course falls within the Province of Alessandria and all of it within the former Province of Casale. The river is of modest flow and is heavily reliant on rainfall with a discharge near its mouth of 1.6 cubic metres per second (57 cu ft/s). The river is born on the slopes of Madonna dei Monti near Grazzano Badoglio in the Province of Asti, close to one of the springs of the Grana del Monferrato. Its early course makes an arc through the hills of the Basso Monferrato, heading first west-southwest before curving gradually to west-northwest. It receives waters from a number of small streams to its left and passes through the communes of Olivola and between Vignale Monferrato and Frassinello Monferrato. At Roncaglia, it is joined at the left by a second branch whose main source is in the hills near Ottiglio; this second branch has been joined by streams rising in Sala Monferrato, Cella Monte, and Rosignano Monferrato. From the right, it receives streams arising in Camagna Monferrato and Conzano. At San Maurizio (near Occimiano), it is joined from the left by a further branch with origins near Terruggia. Entering the Casalese plain, the Rotaldo River follows a sinuous course, passing through Borgo San Martino, Ticineto, and Valmacca where it is joined from the left by the Gattola. It enters the Po River at Bozzole.

Casale Monferrato (Italian pronunciation: [kaˈzaːle moɱferˈraːto]) is a town in the Piedmont region of Italy, in the province of Alessandria. It is situated about 60 km (37 mi) east of Turin on the right bank of the Po, where the river runs at the foot of the Montferrat hills. Beyond the river lies the vast plain of the Po valley. An ancient Roman municipium, the town has been the most important trade and manufacturing centre of the area for centuries. After the fall of the Roman Empire, Casale became a free municipality and, in the 15th and early 16th centuries, served as the capital of the House of Palaiologos. Then in 1536, the town passed to the Gonzagas who fortified it with a large citadel. In the 17th century, Casale was heavily involved in the War of the Mantuan Succession and besieged by French and Spanish troops. During the wars of Italian unification the town was a defensive bulwark against the Austrian Empire. In the 1900s Casale, in the middle of the Turin-Milan-Genoa industrial triangle, developed as an important industrial centre, especially known for the production of asbestos cement. A local Eternit factory has been at the centre of a massive environmental scandal, with subsequent high-profile litigation that often made international headlines.
