It is known for having one of the largest Renault factories in France, where they produce tools and design new fittings for the vehicles.The commune residents also store many films, warehoused at Rambouillet. In 1990, a fire broke out in the warehouse and many one-of-a-kind reels of film were destroyed.

The Château de Pontchartrain is mainly in the municipality of Jouars-Pontchartrain within Yvelines, in the west of the Île de France region of France. The west end of its domain (a throwback term for grounds equivalent to demesne: a personal estate of a manorial lord) beyond its ornamental lake named the Étang du Château de Pontchartrain extends into the commune to the west, Le Tremblay-sur-Mauldre. The bulk of the building is two massive wings built in the mid-seventeenth century, by order of owner Louis I Phélypeaux, Comte de Pontchartrain, who was elevated in nobility and in ministerial rank to Chancellor of France. Lake Pontchartrain in Louisiana was named after him as well as the historic Hotel Pontchartrain in New Orleans, as was Fort Pontchartrain du Détroit in Michigan (the site of modern-day Detroit) and Detroit's Hotel Pontchartrain. The main building includes a gallery, dated to between 1598 and 1609, providing communication between the two wings. Later additions include a late 19th century pavilion.

Le Tremblay-sur-Mauldre (French pronunciation: [lə tʁɑ̃blɛ syʁ moldʁ], literally Le Tremblay on Mauldre) is a commune in the Yvelines department in the Île-de-France in north-central France.

Plaisir (French pronunciation: [plɛziʁ]) is a commune located in the heart of the Yvelines department in the Île-de-France region in Northern France. It is located in the western outer suburbs of Paris, 29.5 km (18.3 mi) from the centre of Paris. It borders among others on Élancourt (south), Trappes (southeast) and Les Clayes-sous-Bois (east). Plaisir has managed to preserve its twelfth century church. Its varied territory is characterised by large agricultural plains, many green spaces and a forest area that together occupy half of its surface. Plaisir is the twelfth commune of the Yvelines department in terms of population, with nearly 31,000 inhabitants. It is a member of the communauté d'agglomération Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines. Between 1968 and 1990, Plaisir has seen explosive growth in its population, but since then, the town's policy has been to contain growth and aim for stabilisation, in order to main the local quality of living as well as the natural spaces (forests and agricultural lands). It has a major shopping mall that is still expanding. This commercial activity has been a boon for local tax revenues, but also led to congestion of its roads. Aside from this commercial activity, Plaisir is also home to a number of other activities, for instance it is home to the Zodiaxc corporation and hosts the Lenôtre culinary school which attracts students from across the globe.

The Donjon de Maurepas is a ruined medieval castle in the town of Maurepas, in the French département of Yvelines (Île de France).

The Jardin botanique de l'Institut National is a small botanical garden located within the campus of the Institut des sciences et industries du vivant et de l'environnement (AgroParisTech), formerly known as the Institut National Agronomique Paris-Grignon, on the Avenue Lucien Brétignières, Thiverval-Grignon, Yvelines, Île-de-France, France. It is closed to the public but may be visited by groups. The garden was established sometime before 1979 on a plot of land adjacent to the Arboretum de Grignon. Today it consists of 34 beds containing about 1,000 taxa with an emphasis on Graminae, Leguminosae, ornamental plants, and plants of limestone soils. The Association de l'arbre de fer was established in 2001 to protect and enhance the campus' natural environment, and in 2003 it began restoration and enlargement of the arboretum, as well as creation of a botanical trail and rehabilitation of the garden.
