Antigonë

Saraqinisht is a small village of the former Antigonë municipality in the Gjirokastër County, southern Albania. At the 2015 local government reform it became part of the municipality Gjirokastër. Near the village are the remains of the ancient city of Antigonea, which was founded by Pyrrhus of Epirus, and named after his wife, Antigone. Saraqinisht is inhabited by an Orthodox Albanian population and an Aromanian minority. At 1630-1653 the Aromanian inhabitants of the village were able to contribute to the foundation of several Orthodox monuments such as the churches of Saint Nicholas, Prophet Elija and the nearby monastery of Theotokos of Spilaio.

Antigonia (Ancient Greek: Ἀντιγόνεια), also transliterated as Antigonea and Antigoneia, was an ancient Greek city in Chaonia, Epirus, and the chief inland city of the ancient Chaonians. It is located just south of the village of Saraqinisht, Gjirokastër County, Albania. The area has been declared a National Archaeological Park.

Stegopul or Stegopull (Aromanian: Stãgopul) is a village in Lunxhëri, Gjirokastër County, Albania. At the 2015 local government reform, it became part of the municipality Libohovë. It is home to the Orthodox Church of St. Elijah's, also declared a national monument. In 1989, Stegopull counted 160 inhabitants, most of whom were Orthodox Albanians and a minority were Aromanians, but in the following year, the Aromanian community outnumbered the rest of the population. Alternative spellings for Stegopul can be found in various languages, such as Stegopulli, Shtegopol, Stregopuli, Stegopull, Stegopol, Stegopoli and Stegopuli.

Qestorat (Aromanian: Chiãsturat or Chiãsturata) is a community of the former Lunxhëri municipality in the Gjirokastër County, southern Albania. At the 2015 local government reform it became part of the municipality Gjirokastër. From 1874 to 1891 the village was home to the Greek Zographeion College, educational facilities that included primary and secondary male, female schools and a teacher's academy and operated with the personal costs of the local benefactor Christakis Zografos. Today this institution houses the museum of Lunxhëri.

Gjirokastër District (Albanian: Rrethi i Gjirokastrës) was one of the 36 districts of Albania, which were dissolved in July 2000 and replaced by 12 counties. It had a population of 55,991 in 2001, and an area of 1,137 km2 (439 sq mi). It contained a large Greek ethnic minority. It is in the south of the country, and its capital was the city of Gjirokastër. Its territory is now part of Gjirokastër County: the municipalities of Gjirokastër, Dropull and Libohovë.

Qendër Libohovë is a former municipality in the Gjirokastër County, southern Albania. At the 2015 local government reform it became a subdivision of the municipality Libohovë. The population at the 2011 census was 1,264. The municipal unit consists of the villages Labovë e Sipërme, Labovë e Poshtme (together also referred to as Labovë e Kryqit), Suhë, Stegopull, Bulo, Drino and Nepravishtë. An important cultural, religious and historical monument in the municipality St. Mary's Church, Labovë e Kryqit.The church seen today is essentially a creation of the 13th century at the time of the Despots of Epirus. However, an original foundation may go back to AD 527-565 during the reign of Emperor Justinian.

Lunxhëri is a former municipality in the Gjirokastër County, Albania. At the 2015 local government reform it became a subdivision of the municipality Gjirokastër. The population at the 2011 census was 1,941. The municipal unit consists of the villages Qestorat, Dhoksat, Këllëz, Mingul, Nokovë, Erind, Gjat, Kakoz, Karjan and Valare. The area is known for its Albanian-speaking Orthodox Christian and Aromanian population.

The Kordhocë Bridge is an Ottoman Turkish stone arch bridge in the village of Kordhocë in Albania and about two kilometers south of Gjirokastër. It spans the Drino river at a maximum height of about 7 meters. It is about 20 metres long and 3.7 meters wide and is one of the most important buildings of the Ottoman period in Epirus. According to historians, it was built around 1820 and at that time was the main hub connecting three cities, Gjirokastër, Libohovë and Janina. It is currently an important link between the Mali i Gjerë area and Dropull. Some scenes of three films, Muri i Gjallë , Dasma e Sakos and Ja liri, ja vdekje, were shot on the bridge.

Kordhocë is a village in the Gjirokastër County in Albania. At the 2015 local government reform it became part of the municipality Gjirokastër. It is known for the Kordhocë bridge.

The Holy Transfiguration Monastery Church (Albanian: Kisha e Manastirit të Shpërfytyrimit) is a monastery church in Mingul, Gjirokastër County, Albania. It is a Cultural Monument of Albania.

Erind is a village in the Gjirokastër County, southern Albania. It belongs to the former Lunxhëri municipality and is part of the wider Lunxhëri region. At the 2015 local government reform it became part of the municipality Gjirokastër. Erind was one of the Albanian Christian villages in the possession of the House of Moutzohoussates (Albanian: Muçohysaj), the ancestral house of Ali Pasha.

Derviçan (Albanian definite form: Derviçani; Greek: Δερβιτσάνη, romanized: Dervitsani, also known as Derviçian) is a settlement in the former Dropull i Poshtëm municipality, Gjirokastër County, southern Albania. At the 2015 local government reform, it became part of the municipality Dropull. The village is inhabited solely by Greeks.
