Medana (pronounced [mɛˈdaːna]) is a village in the Municipality of Brda in the Slovene Littoral region of Slovenia. It is located in the Gorizia Hills (Slovene: Goriška brda), a wine-producing region on the border with Italy. The parish church in the village is dedicated to the Assumption of Mary and belongs to the Diocese of Koper. Medana is the birthplace of the Slovene poet Alojz Gradnik and is known for its annual Poetry and Wine Days festival, which takes place in late August.

The Municipality of Brda (pronounced [ˈbəɾda]; Slovene: Občina Brda, Italian: Comune di Collio) is a municipality in western Slovenia. It is located in the Slovenian Littoral region, extending from the Italian border to the Soča River. Dobrovo

It lies on the road that connects the Friuli Plain and the Soča Valley. Dobrovo Castle is a castle in the settlement built around 1600 on the foundations of an older structure. It is an almost perfect square in plan with square turrets on each corner. It houses an art gallery and a museum. The castle chapel is dedicated to Saint Anthony of Padua and belongs to the Parish of Biljana.
