Oxford International College

Carfax College, previously known as Carfax Tutorial Establishment is a registered independent school in England, specializing in providing one-to-one and very-small-group tuition in all academic subjects to pupils of all ages. It is an examination centre for all of the major British examination boards. Carfax College is a part of the Carfax Education Group.

The Oxford Institute of Legal Practice (OXILP) was a law school based in Oxford, England, which specialised in teaching the Postgraduate Diploma in Legal Practice, also known as the Legal Practice Course (LPC).

Hythe Bridge (formerly known as High Bridge) is a Victorian flat cast iron beamed bridge on Hythe Bridge Street in the west of central Oxford, England. It spans the Castle Mill Stream, a backwater of the River Thames. Hythe Bridge forms part of the main arterial route west of Oxford. It lies on the A4144, which continues west as the Botley Road (A420). The first bridge here, probably of wooden construction, was built by Oseney Abbey in 1200–10. A stone bridge was built in 1383. It was a round-arched bridge with three arches. The current iron bridge was designed by John Galpin, an Oxford-based engineer, in 1861. The name "Hythe" is derived from the "hithe" (wharf) that used to be located by the bridge. "Hithe" is a Saxon word that means a landing place. Immediately to the northeast of Hythe Bridge is the current southern end of the Oxford Canal. This used to continue south of Hythe Bridge Street to a basin with wharves that in 1951 was filled in and is now a car park and part of Nuffield College.

The Lighthouse is a public house in central Oxford, England. The pub is located at 1 Park End Street, next to the Castle Mill Stream and close to the end of the Oxford Canal. The site of the modern-day Lighthouse pub was within a stone's throw from the Norman city walls. Flanked on either side by the 11th century St George's Tower and Castle Mound, the area was part of the moat system guarding Oxford Castle. The area remained without significant development or residence until after 1790 opening of the Oxford Canal.

The Cistercian Abbey of Rewley was an abbey in Oxford, England. It was founded in the 13th century by Edmund, 2nd Earl of Cornwall. Edmund's father, Richard, 1st Earl of Cornwall, founder of Hailes Abbey, had intended to establish a college or chantry of three secular priests to pray for his soul, but his son Edmund substituted 'six Cistercian monks, having more confidence in them'. If this was the original plan, it was soon enlarged. In 1280 he offered the general chapter of the Cistercian order to found a college (studium) for Cistercians at Oxford, and the chapter accepted the offer, and decreed that the college should have the same privileges as the college of St. Bernard at Paris, and that it should be under the Abbot of Thame, as the other was under the Abbot of Clairvaux. The following year the chapter decreed 'out of due respect to the Earl of Cornwall' that the Abbot of Thame should be empowered to appoint an Abbot of his own choice for the house of study at Oxford, and that there should be a daily memory of the late Earl of Cornwall at Mass at the college (studium) of Oxford, according as the Abbot of the place shall ordain.

Frideswide Square is a square to the west of central Oxford, England. The square is named after the patron saint of Oxford, St Frideswide. The "square" is actually more of a tapered rectangle in shape. Immediately to the north, the modern Saïd Business School of Oxford University dominates the square, established in 1996 on the site of the former Oxford Rewley Road railway station. To the east are Hythe Bridge Street (A4144) and Park End Street, both leading into central Oxford. Between them is the Royal Oxford Hotel. To the south, Hollybush Row and then Oxpens Road (A4144 road) act as an inner ring road leading to Abingdon Road, the main arterial road south out of the city. On the corner with Hollybush Row is the old Frank Cooper's jam factory, now used as office space for Nuffield College and a restaurant. To the west, Botley Road (A420 road) leads out of the city centre, under a railway bridge just south of the main Oxford railway station, situated to the northwest. The square is a major traffic hub in Oxford and is often a bottleneck to traffic flow. Many buses stop in the square.In 2015, work began to transform the square from a congested area to a more attractive public space. The main phase of construction works started in February 2015 and continued until December 2015. The new design removes traffic lights from the square and makes use of shared spaces.

The Greek College, established 1699, was a short-lived attempt to create a separate college for Greek Orthodox students at Oxford University in Oxford, England. This was active from 1699 to 1705, although only 15 Greeks are recorded as members. During the 17th century, there was regular contact and exchange of theological views between Eastern Orthodoxy and the various Protestant churches (cf. Patriarch Cyril of Constantinople), with some aiming for a union against their common dogmatic enemy, the Roman Catholic Church. The idea to establish a Greek Orthodox College at Oxford was first suggested in 1677, but it was only formally proposed in 1698 through the initiative of Benjamin Woodroffe, penultimate Principal of Gloucester Hall, and with the support of Lord William Paget, then ambassador to the Ottoman Empire, the Levant Company and the Greek Orthodox Church. The project eventually failed in 1705 due to the objections of the Greek Orthodox Church. There are only 15 Greeks reported as members, although Greeks attended Oxford both before and after the existence of the College. One alumnus of the Greek College was Alexander Helladius.

Quaking Bridge is a bridge over the Castle Mill Stream in the city of Oxford, England. It connects to St Thomas' Street and Paradise Street and Tidmarsh Lane to the east. It is close to Oxford Castle, immediately to the east. To the north on the Castle Mill Stream are Pacey's Bridge and Hythe Bridge. To the south is Swan Bridge. There has been a bridge at this location from at least the late 13th century. Quaking Bridge was first mentioned in 1297, but is probably much older. It crossed the Castle Mill Stream immediately west of Oxford Castle, on a road that connected Oxford and St Thomas's parish (hence St Thomas' Street here now) before the castle existed. The Canons of Oseney Abbey used it each day for services in St George's Chapel at the castle. The responsibility for the bridge's upkeep was meant to be that of the King. The bridge was originally wooden. In 1821, it had three arches and open timberwork acting as railings. The bridge was replaced with an iron one in 1835. The name of the bridge may derive from its former unsafe condition.

Worcester Street is a street in west central Oxford, England.

Worcester College is one of the constituent colleges of the University of Oxford in England. The college was founded in 1714 by the benefaction of Sir Thomas Cookes, 2nd Baronet (1648–1701) of Norgrove, Worcestershire, whose coat of arms was adopted by the College. Its predecessor, Gloucester College, had been an institution of learning on the same site since the late 13th century until the Dissolution of the Monasteries in 1539. Founded as a men's college, Worcester has been coeducational since 1979. The Provost is David Isaac, CBE who took office on 1 July 2021As of 2018, Worcester College had a financial endowment of £41.9 million.Notable alumni of the college include the media mogul Rupert Murdoch, television producer and screenwriter Russell T Davies, US Supreme Court justice Elena Kagan, Fields Medalist Simon Donaldson, and novelist Richard Adams.
