It was designed by the Metropolitan Water Sewerage & Drainage Board and built from 1959 to 1961. It is also known as WS 0073. The property is owned by Sydney Water. It was added to the New South Wales State Heritage Register on 18 November 1999.

The college is noted in honour of the Christian patron, St Paul. It was originally named St Simon Stock High School and Newman High School. It is behind the OLQP Parish in Greystanes and next to OLQP Primary School. Its vicinity becomes the host of the annual Maltese Festival around September.

Named in honour of Saint Edmund Campion, Campion College offers undergraduate studies in the liberal arts and postgraduate studies in Religious Education. The college welcomed its first intake of students in February 2006. The founding president was bioethicist Father John Fleming, and the first graduation ceremony was held in December 2008.
