Mechanicville Bridge

St. Paul the Apostle Church is a historic Catholic church in the city of Mechanicville, New York, United States of America. It is presently part of the parish of All Saints on the Hudson.

Mechanicville is a city in Saratoga County, New York, United States. The population was 5,196 at the time of the 2010 census. It is the smallest city by area in the state. The name is derived from the occupations of early residents.The city is located on the eastern border of Saratoga County and is north of Albany, the state capital. Mechanicville borders the towns of Stillwater (of which it was once a part) and Halfmoon in the county, and the town of Schaghticoke, Rensselaer County.

Col. Elmer E. Ellsworth Monument and Grave is a historic site within Hudson View Cemetery in Mechanicville, New York. The monument to Elmer E. Ellsworth, the first Union officer casualty of the American Civil War, was built in 1874 and added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1976. In 1997 the 300 pounds (140 kg) bronze eagle was stolen from the top of the monument. The eagle was recognized and returned by an antique dealer in 1998.

Mechanicville Jr./Sr. High School is a school located in Halfmoon, New York The school is part of the Mechanicville City School district and serves the district's sixth through 12th grades. In 2011, a merger occurred between the high school and the middle school causing the school to now be known as Mechanicville Jr./Sr. High School.

WSSV (1160 AM) is a commercial radio station licensed to Mechanicville, New York, and serving the Capital District. The station broadcasts a classic hits radio format and is owned by Loud Media.By day, WSSV transmits with 5,000 watts, but because 1160 AM is a clear channel frequency reserved for KSL in Salt Lake City, WSSV must greatly reduce power at night to 570 watts. It uses a non-directional antenna at all times. Programming is also heard on FM translator W227DW at 93.3 MHz in Saratoga Springs.

HVDC Mechanicville–Schenectady was the first experimental HVDC transmission line in the United States. Built in 1932, the circuit traversed 37 kilometres (23 mi) from Mechanicville, New York to Schenectady, New York. The system used mercury arc rectifiers at a voltage of 20,000 volts and a rated power of 5 MW. The facility was dismantled after World War II.

Mechanicville Hydroelectric Plant is a 18.3-acre (7.4 ha) national historic district located at Mechanicville in Saratoga County, New York. The listing included one contributing building and three contributing structures. The district dates to 1897 and includes notable Queen Anne architecture.The district includes the powerhouse, an earth embankment, a concrete non-overflow dam, and a 700-foot-long concrete gravity overflow dam. They were built in 1897–1898 by the Hudson River Power Transmission Company and span the western channel of the Hudson River between the Saratoga County shore and Bluff Island.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1989.The station was designed to produce 5000 kilowatts from seven hydraulic turbine-generator units. Extensive renovations starting in 2003 have turned the plant into a working museum. In 2021, the plant started mining bitcoin with a portion of the hydro-power energy. Because running a plant that still uses all of the original 1800s machinery, mining bitcoin has been three times more profitable than selling electricity back to the national grid.

Knickerbocker Mansion is a historic home located at Schaghticoke in Rensselaer County, New York. The property was occupied by the Knickerbocker family for nearly 250 years, from about 1707 until 1946. The mansion was built by Johannes Knickerbacker III around 1770. It was acquired in 1964 by the Knickerbocker Historical Society and is operated as a local history museum. The Knickerbocker Historical Society (KHS) have almost entirely restored the mansion. The Knickerbocker Mansion grounds were the location of the “Witenagemot Oak,” planted in 1676 to commemorate the signing of a treaty between New York governor Edmund Andros and the local Mahican people and native refugees from King Philip's War. The oak stood until 1948.The house was built about 1770 and is a 2+1⁄2-story, rectangular brick building. It has a hipped roof, covered in slate, that curves slightly at the eaves. The front facade once featured a one-bay, pedimented entrance portico. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1972.

The Hoosic River, also known as the Hoosac, the Hoosick (primarily in New York) and the Hoosuck (mostly archaic), is a 76.3-mile-long (122.8 km) tributary of the Hudson River in the northeastern United States. The different spellings are the result of varying transliterations of the river's original Algonquian name. It can be translated either as "the beyond place" (as in beyond, or east of, the Hudson) or as "the stony place" (perhaps because the river's stony bottom is usually exposed except in spring, or perhaps because local soils are so stony).

Stillwater United Church, formerly known as Second Baptist Church, is a historic church at 135 Hudson Avenue in Stillwater, Saratoga County, New York. It was designed by architect Marcus F. Cummings and built in 1873. It has a rectangular, gable roofed sanctuary above a raised basement of cut limestone blocks in an early Romanesque or Northern Italianate style. It features an engaged brick bell tower culminating in a belfry and topped by a tall spire. A two-story brick education wing was added in 1952.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2006.

Stillwater Bridge is a truss bridge in the Capital District of New York in the United States. It carries Stillwater Bridge Road (New York State Route 915C or NY 915C, an unsigned reference route) across the Hudson River from the village of Stillwater in Saratoga County to the town of Schaghticoke in Rensselaer County. The bridge is two lanes wide and has a sidewalk only along the south side of the road. Stillwater Bridge begins at an intersection with U.S. Route 4 and NY 32 in Stillwater. From here, it heads southeast across the Hudson River to Stillwater Island, an island in Schaghticoke bounded by the river to the west and the Champlain Canal to the east. On Stillwater Island, Stillwater Bridge Road serves Lock 4 State Canal Park at the mouth of the Hoosic River and changes designations from NY 915C to County Route 125. A smaller truss bridge brings Stillwater Bridge Road across the Champlain Canal and onto the mainland of the town of Schaghticoke. The bridge carried NY 67 across the Hudson River until 1980, when NY 67 was realigned to cross the river at Mechanicville 3 miles (4.8 km) to the south.

Stillwater is a village in Saratoga County, New York, United States. The population was 1,738 at the 2010 census. There is a hamlet in Minerva, Essex County with the same name, which has nothing to do with this village. The Village of Stillwater is in the southeastern part of the Town of Stillwater, north of the City of Mechanicville.
