Selimiye Barracks (Turkish: Selimiye Kışlası), also known as Scutari Barracks, is a Turkish Army barracks located in the Üsküdar district on the Asian part of Istanbul, Turkey. It was built first in 1800 by Sultan Selim III for the soldiers of the newly established Nizam-ı Cedid (literally "New Order") in frame of the Ottoman military reform efforts.

The Selimiye Mosque (Turkish: (Büyük) Selimiye Camii, lit. '(Great) Mosque of Selim') is a mosque situated in the district of Üsküdar in İstanbul, Turkey, near the Selimiye Barracks. The mosque was commissioned by Ottoman Sultan Selim III (reigned 1789–1807) and built between 1801 and 1805.

The Port of Haydarpaşa, also known as the Port of Haidar Pasha (Turkish: Haydarpaşa Limanı) is a general cargo seaport, ro-ro and container terminal, situated in Haydarpaşa, Istanbul, Turkey at the southern entrance to the Bosphorus. The port is operated by the Turkish State Railways (TCDD) and serves a hinterland which includes the country's most industrialized areas. It is the second-biggest port in the Marmara Region and with an annual cargo volume exceeding six million metric tons (MT), is Turkey's fourth-biggest port after Mersin, Ambarli and İzmit.

Salacak is a neighborhood in the Üsküdar municipality of Istanbul, Turkey. It is located on the Asian shore of the Bosporus, to the south of the historic center of Üsküdar. The word salacak means "bench for washing a corpse," but the name is reported to come from sala meaning "village" (language unspecified) with the Turkish suffix -cık, "small."The neighborhood's best-known landmark is the Maiden's Tower (Kız Kulesi), just offshore from Salacak in the Bosporus.

The Maiden's Tower (Turkish: Kız Kulesi), also known as Leander's Tower (Tower of Leandros) since the medieval Byzantine period, is a tower on a small islet at the southern entrance of the Bosphorus strait 200 m (220 yd) from the coast of Üsküdar in Istanbul, Turkey.

Haydarpaşa is a neighborhood within the Kadıköy and Üsküdar districts on the Asian part of Istanbul, Turkey. Haydarpaşa is named after Ottoman Vizier Haydar Pasha. The place, on the coast of Sea of Marmara, borders to Harem in the northwest and Kadıköy in the southeast. It is a historical area with almost solely public buildings. Haydarpaşa is administered by the Mukhtars of Rasımpaşa and Osmanağa parishes (Turkish: Mahallesi Muhtarı). Internationally known structures around the area are the Haydarpaşa Terminal, Port of Haydarpaşa and the Selimiye Barracks in adjacent Harem.

Rum Mehmed Pasha Mosque is located close to the Bosphorus waterfront and Şemsi Pasha, Yeni Valide and Mihrimah Sultan historical mosques located in the Üsküdar district.

Haydarpaşa Cemetery, also known as Haidar Pasha Cemetery, Istanbul, (Turkish: Haydarpaşa İngiliz Mezarlığı), located in the Haydarpaşa neighborhood of Üsküdar district in the Asian part of Istanbul, Turkey, is a burial ground established initially for British military personnel who took part in the Crimean War (1854–1856). The cemetery holds also graves of Commonwealth soldiers from the two World Wars, and civilians of British nationality.

Şakirin Mosque is a mosque in Istanbul, Turkey. The building is located at one of the entrances of Karacaahmet Cemetery in Üsküdar. It was built by the Semiha Şakir Foundation in memory of İbrahim Şakir and Semiha Şakir and opened on 7 May 2009. According to newspaper reports, it is the most carbon-neutral mosque in Turkey.

Damalis (Ancient Greek: Δάμαλις) was a coastal town of ancient Bithynia located on the Bosphorus near Chrysopolis. Polybius calls the town Bus or Bous (Βοῦς). According to Greek mythology, Io landed when she crossed the strait. The name Damalis means 'heifer', and Arrian, quoted by Eustathius, has a story about it.Its site is located at Kızkule in Asiatic Turkey.
