The 1986 U.S. Women's Open was the 41st U.S. Women's Open, held July 10–14 at the South Course of NCR Country Club in Kettering, Ohio, a suburb south of Dayton. Jane Geddes won the first of her two major titles in an 18-hole Monday playoff, winning by two strokes over Sally Little. It was the fifth playoff at the U.S. Women's Open and the first in ten years.This was the only of the four majors in 1986 that was not won by Pat Bradley; she narrowly missed the grand slam with a fifth-place finish, three strokes back.NCR's South Course previously hosted the PGA Championship in 1969.

The 2022 U.S. Senior Women's Open took place August 25–28 at NCR Country Club in Dayton, Ohio, and was the fourth U.S. Senior Women's Open. It was a professional golf tournament organized by the United States Golf Association, open to women over 50 years of age.Jill McGill won by one stoke over Leta Lindley.

Moraine Country Club is a country club located in Kettering, Ohio, in the Dayton Metropolitan Area. The development of the Moraine Country Club started at a meeting in 1927, when Colonel Deeds, Charles Kettering, Frederick Rike, Governor James Cox, Robert Patterson, John Haswell & William Keyes decided to turn a portion of "Moraine Farm" into a golf course. Alec Campbell designed the course and in 1930 the club was incorporated. The golf course there hosted the PGA Championship in 1945 which Byron Nelson won.

The 1945 PGA Championship was the 27th PGA Championship, held July 9–15 at Moraine Country Club in Kettering, Ohio, a suburb south of Dayton. Then a match play championship, Byron Nelson won 4 & 3 in the final over Sam Byrd, a former major league baseball player.It was Nelson's fifth and final major title and his second win at the PGA Championship; he also won in 1940 and was a runner-up three times (1939, 1941, 1944). The winner's share of the purse was $5,000 in war bonds. The victory was the ninth of Nelson's record eleven consecutive wins in 1945. Defending champion Bob Hamilton was defeated in the first round by Jack Grout, 4 & 3. Due to World War II, the PGA Championship was the sole major played in 1945 (and 1944). The three others returned in 1946.

The Charles F. Kettering House is a historic house on Ridgeleigh Road in Kettering, Ohio. Built in 1914, and reconstructed after a fire in 1995, it was the primary residence of inventor Charles F. Kettering, founder of Delco Electronics. The Tudor Revival house, also known as Ridgeleigh Terrace, was the first house in the United States with electric air conditioning using freon. The reconstructed house is now owned by Kettering Medical Center, which operates it as a conference center. It was designated a National Historic Landmark in 1977.

Kettering College (formerly Kettering College of Medical Arts) is a private Adventist college in Dayton, Ohio. The college is owned by the Kettering Medical Center and chartered by the Seventh-day Adventist Church. The college was built in 1967 next to the Charles F. Kettering Memorial Hospital.

The Miami Valley School is a non-profit organization and is accredited by the Independent Schools Association of the Central States. The school serves approximately 480 students across all grades.The school consists of four divisions. The Early Childhood School includes two preschool grades, called EC1 and EC2. The kindergarten through 5th grade unit is called the Lower School, instead of the more common elementary school. The 6th through 8th-grade academic unit has the traditional Middle School title. The 9th through 12th grade unit is called the Upper School, instead of the more common high school.

Kettering Health Main Campus, formerly known as Kettering Medical Center (KMC), is a faith-based, nonprofit hospital located in Kettering, Ohio, United States. Founded in 1964, it is the flagship hospital of the Kettering Health, and is directly affiliated with the Seventh-day Adventist Church. It is also affiliated with the Boonshoft School of Medicine. In 2020, Forbes and Great Places to Work named Kettering Health a "Best Place to Work", regardless of industry.

NCR Country Club is a country club located in Dayton, Ohio where NCR Corporation used to be headquartered. There are two golf courses at the club, the North course and the South course. The 1969 PGA Championship was played on the South course and won by Raymond Floyd. It also hosted the 2005 U.S. Senior Open won by Allen Doyle and the 1986 U.S. Women's Open, which was won by Jane Geddes. The 2022 U.S. Senior Women's Open was won by Jill McGill.

Woodbourne-Hyde Park is an unincorporated area in Washington Township in Montgomery County, Ohio, United States. A Suburb of Dayton. It was delineated as a census-designated place (CDP) at the 2000 census, at which time its population was 7,910. It was not delineated as a CDP for the 2010 census. Woodbourne-Hyde Park is located south of the city of Dayton and is a suburb of Dayton.

The Ohio Institute of Photography (OIP) was founded in 1971. In 1977, construction began on the main building. Classes began in the new building, designed specifically for photographic education, the following September. The building was expanded again in 1984. The school was renamed the Ohio Institute of Photography and Technology (OIP&T) in 1991 with the addition of an allied health program. Several other medical, criminal justice, and graphic design related programs were added to the curriculum over the next several years. With the addition of these programs, the school added classroom space in the nearby Point West Business Park. A branch campus called Florida Education Center-Lauderhill was opened in January 2005. OIP&T was acquired by Kaplan Higher Education and renamed Kaplan College, Dayton campus in 2010.The school is currently owned by Education Corporation of America and changed its name to Brightwood College in October 2015.
