The Memorial to the Victims of Communism – Canada, a Land of Refuge is a controversial monument that as of July 2021 is currently under construction in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. It was originally to be erected on a site between the Supreme Court of Canada and the National Library of Canada but in December 2015, Canadian Heritage Minister Mélanie Joly suggested that the National Capital Commission instead approve a 500 square metre site half a kilometre to the west, in the Garden of the Provinces and Territories. Under the revised timeline, a national competition was held in 2016 and 2017 to select a new design for the monument. The site was dedicated in a ceremony held on November 2, 2017. Construction began in early November 2019, and was expected to be completed by the summer of 2020, but by the end of 2022 was still not finished, with no construction progress made in 2022. Joly complained that the previous Harper government had made the project too controversial. The new Liberal government has moved the site and cut its budget. She stated: Commemorative monuments play a key role in reflecting the character, identity, history and values of Canadians. They should be places of reflection, inspiration and learning, not shrouded in controversy." The winning design was announced in May 2017 as Arc of Memory designed by Toronto architect Paul Raff in partnership with designer and arborist Michael A. Ormston-Holloway, and landscape architects Brett Hoornaert and Luke Kairys, and was described by the selection committee as follows: The Arc of Memory features two gently curving wall-like metal frames totalling 21 metres in length and almost 4 metres in height. The walls support more than 4000 short bronze rods densely arranged along 365 steel fins, each one pointing at a unique angle of the sun, for every hour of every day, across a year. The memorial would be split in the middle at winter solstice, the darkest day of the year, inviting visitors to step through in a metaphorical journey from darkness and oppression to lightness and liberty.

The Garden of the Provinces and Territories (French: Jardins des provinces et des territoires) is a 4-acre (1.6 ha) site along Confederation Boulevard in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada's capital city. It is bounded by the Sparks Street escarpment on the south, Wellington Street on the west and north, and Bay Street to the east between Christ Church Cathedral and the Library and Archives Canada. It was officially opened on September 25, 1962, as a western gateway to the Parliament Buildings. The park was renamed from "Garden of the Provinces" on October 6, 2005 to recognize and include Canada's three territories. Scott Brison, then the Minister of Public Works and Government Services Canada, officially renamed the park. In December 2015, the federal government requested that the National Capital Commission approve the garden as the site of the proposed Memorial to the Victims of Communism rather than its previously approved site, a plot of land by the Supreme Court of Canada building.

Christ Church Cathedral is the Anglican cathedral in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. The church is located at 414 Sparks Street in the northwest section of the city's downtown at the western end of Sparks Street on top of a promontory looking down to the Ottawa River.

The Fleet Street Pumping Station is a historic water pumping station in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. It is west of downtown in the LeBreton Flats area, near the new Canadian War Museum. The building was opened in 1875 as Ottawa's first pumping station (PS) and pumped unfiltered water from the Ottawa River into the city's new water distribution system. The station was designed by Thomas Keefer, who designed water systems for many cities in Canada. It has been expanded several times since its construction. Ottawa now has two Water Purification Plants: one on Lemieux Island opened in 1922, and one at Britannia, which opened in 1961. These two plants produce 275 million litres of water every day. The Fleet Street PS still plays an important role in the city's water distribution system. The pumping station, designated as heritage in 1982 under the Ontario Heritage Act, uses hydraulic power to pump water and is the only one of its kind in Canada still in operation. In 1981 it was recognized by the AWWA with the American/Canadian/Mexican Landmarks Award. The discharge from the PS provides a class 2 whitewater site used by canoe and kayak enthusiasts.

St. Peter's is an Ottawa landmark. The motto is "A community of faith seeking to grow in God's grace and love".

Ādisōke is the name of an upcoming joint facility between the Ottawa Public Library (OPL) and Library and Archives Canada (LAC). The OPL and LAC Joint Facility project's goal is to bring together the extensive collections of both institutions into one centre. It includes a series of community and creative spaces that aim to appeal to all residents and visitors of Ottawa. The official name and branding for the facility was released in October 2023.

The LGBTQ2+ National Monument, or 2SLGBTQI+ National Monument, is a planned public monument in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, dedicated to the history of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer and two-spirit communities in Canada. The monument was launched by the LGBT Purge Fund, an organization created from the 2018 settlement of the class action suit against the Government of Canada by victims of the purges of LGBTQ employees from the federal civil service in the 1960s. In 2020 the fund and the National Capital Commission announced the planned site, a parkland site on Wellington Street between Library and Archives Canada and the Portage Bridge, and launched a design competition for artists and architects to submit proposals. In November 2021, the five shortlisted designs were unveiled. They included The Lens, by Fathom Studio, Two Row Architect and MVRDV; A Glass Bowl, by MASS Design Group and Stephen Andrews; Bapiiwin, by SOM, HTFC, Rebecca Belmore, Noam Gonick, Lyle Dick and Iraklis Lampropoulos; Thunderhead, by Public City, Shawna Dempsey and Lorri Millan and Albert McLeod; and OnCommonGround by bbb architects Ottawa, PWP Landscape Architects, WSP Engineering, Nadia Myre, Udo Schliemann, Robert Lepage, Nicole Crevier and Trudi Fontaine. In March 2022, the Thunderhead design was announced as the final winner by LGBT Purge Fund director Michelle Douglas. It will feature a mirrored thunderhead cloud inside a large column surrounded by an orchard, a medicinal garden, a healing circle with stones selected by indigenous elders and a walking path, and is intended to serve both as a space for quiet reflection on LGBTQ history in Canada and a venue for artistic performances and protests. The monument is slated to open in 2025.

Library and Archives Canada (LAC; French: Bibliothèque et Archives Canada) is the federal institution, tasked with acquiring, preserving, and providing accessibility to the documentary heritage of Canada. The national archive and library is the fifth largest library in the world. The LAC reports to the Parliament of Canada through the Minister of Canadian Heritage. The LAC traces its origins to the Dominion Archives, formed in 1872, and the National Library of Canada, formed in 1953. The former was later renamed as the Public Archives of Canada in 1912, and the National Archives of Canada in 1987. In 2004, the National Archives of Canada and the National Library of Canada were merged to form Library and Archives Canada.

Ottawa Technical High School, known as Ottawa Tech, was a high school in Ottawa, Canada that specialized in vocational programs. The school opened in 1913 as the second public secondary school in Ottawa, and closed in 1992. It was located on Albert Street in the western part of downtown Ottawa.

The Royal Canadian Navy Monument is a small memorial park located at Richmond Landing, next to the Ottawa River in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. It commemorates the men and women who have served or are currently serving in the Royal Canadian Navy. The monument was designed by artist Al McWilliams and architects Joost Bakker and Bruce Haden, and was officially opened by then Prime Minister of Canada, Stephen Harper, on 3 May 2012.
