Baylor St. Luke's Medical Center (BSLMC) is the private adult teaching hospital of Baylor College of Medicine jointly owned with CHI St. Luke's Health. The medical staff at the hospital includes full-time Baylor faculty, as well as community physicians. The hospital was formerly known as St. Luke's Episcopal Hospital before its acquisition by Catholic Health Initiatives in 2013 and subsequent co-ownership agreement with Baylor in 2014. It is located on Bertner Avenue in the Texas Medical Center in Houston. The hospital is an 881-bed institution that is also a clinical partner of the Texas Heart Institute.

The Center for Cell and Gene Therapy is a translational research institute within Baylor College of Medicine, Texas Children's Hospital and Houston Methodist Hospital, all of which are located in the Texas Medical Center in Houston, Texas. The center's mission is to develop novel therapies for a range of diseases through collaboration between basic research laboratories and clinical departments. The center was founded by Dr. Malcolm K. Brenner in 1998 and includes six major parts. The current director is Dr. Helen E. Heslop, physician-scientist who specializes in translational research. The Center for Cell and Gene Therapy conducts research into numerous diseases, including but not limited to pediatric cancers, diabetes, HIV, glioma and cardiovascular disease. The center has laboratory space in both Baylor College of Medicine and Texas Children's Hospital, and clinical units in Texas Children's and Methodist Hospitals.The Texas Children's Hospital is home to the center's Translational Research Labs and Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) Laboratories. The Center for Cell and Gene Therapy has the largest academic GMP facility in the world, with 8,600 square feet of Class 10,000 (ISO7) cleanroom space. The GMP Gene Vector Lab produces clinical grade vectors for use in Phase I/II trials, while the GMP Clinical Research Lab prepares patient components for clinical trials. The Gene Vector Lab was one of only three National Gene Vector Laboratories until that entity was replaced by the National Gene Vector Biorepository in 2008. The Research Lab is a member of the Production Assistance for Cell Therapies (PACT).The Stem Cell Transplantation Program has two units. The pediatric unit has more than 16,000 square feet on the eighth floor of Texas Children's Hospital's West Tower. The 30,000-square foot adult unit is in The Methodist Hospital's Main Tower.

The 4.93-square-mile (12.8 km2) Medical Center / Astrodome area, highly populated with medical workers, is home to over 20,000 people.The TMC is served by the METRORail Red Line, a north-south light rail route which connects the district to Downtown Houston and NRG Park.

The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center (colloquially MD Anderson Cancer Center) is a comprehensive cancer center in Houston, Texas. It is the largest cancer center in the U.S. and one of the original three comprehensive cancer centers in the country. It is both a degree-granting academic institution and a cancer treatment and research center located at the Texas Medical Center in Houston. It is affiliated with The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston. According to Newsweek, MD Anderson Cancer Center is considered the best hospital in the world for oncology and related cancer treatment.

Houston Orthopedic and Spine Hospital is the number one rated hospital in Houston for surgery according to Consumer Reports. Located in Bellaire, Texas, it was originally Foundation Medical Hospital but then changed its name to Houston Orthopedic and Spine Hospital. The building next to the hospital is still called Foundation Medical Tower. Commonly known as HOSH, it is a specialized orthopedic hospital with some teaching involved. HOSH sometimes takes residents and allows them to view surgeries and learn about the profession. HOSH is one of the most well-recognized hospital in the city, state, and nation. Houston Methodist Hospital is the flagship quaternary care hospital of Houston Methodist academic medical center. Located in the Texas Medical Center in Houston, Texas, Houston Methodist Hospital was established in 1919 during the height of the Spanish influenza epidemic as an outreach ministry of Methodist Episcopal Church. Houston Methodist comprises eight hospitals, an academic institute, a primary care group, and more than 300 locations throughout greater Houston. Texas Children's Hospital is a nationally ranked, freestanding 973-bed, acute care women's and children's hospital located in Houston, Texas. It is the primary pediatric teaching hospital affiliated with Baylor College of Medicine and is located within the Texas Medical Center. The hospital provides comprehensive pediatric specialty and subspecialty care to infants, children, teens, and young adults aged 0–21 throughout Texas and features an ACS verified level I pediatric trauma center. Its regional pediatric intensive-care unit and neonatal intensive care units serve the Southern United States region and also has programs to serve children from around the world. With 973 beds, it is the largest children's hospital in the United States.In addition to its main site in the Texas Medical Center, Texas Children's Hospital has satellite campuses in the suburb of The Woodlands and at its West Campus near Houston's Energy Corridor neighborhood. The Jane and Robert Cizik School of Nursing at the University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston (UTHealth) is an American nursing education institution. The school has graduated more than 12,000 nurses since its establishment in 1972. Its name was changed to the Jane and Robert Cizik School of Nursing at UTHealth in 2017 in recognition of a gift of $25 million that endowed scholarships, faculty chairs, and research in addition to a distinguished lecture series. Located in the Texas Medical Center, Cizik School of Nursing's building, which also serves as a student community center for the UTHealth campus, opened in October 2004 and was awarded LEED Gold certification by the U.S. Green Building Council in 2009.

The University of Texas Police at Houston (UT Police at Houston) is a full-service Police Department that serves the communities of the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth) and the M.D. Anderson Cancer Center. UT Police at Houston patrols the Texas Medical Center and has property in surrounding counties.

The Houston Main Building (HMB) formerly the Prudential Building, was a skyscraper in the Texas Medical Center, Houston, Texas. It originally housed offices of the Prudential Insurance Company, before becoming a part of the MD Anderson Cancer Center. The building was demolished on January 8, 2012. It was designed by Kenneth Franzheim.

The UTHealth School of Public Health is one of six component institutions of the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston. The Texas Legislature authorized the creation of a school of public health in 1947, but did not appropriate funds for the school until 1967. The first class was admitted in the fall of 1969, doubled in the second year and doubled again in the third year, with continued growth over the years since. UTHealth brings together the School of Public Health, with the Medical School, the School of Nursing, the School of Dentistry, the Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences, the School of Biomedical Informatics, and the UT Harris County Psychiatric Center.The school's main campus is located in Houston's famed Texas Medical Center. It originally occupied rented and borrowed space in the Medical Center but today it occupies its own building plus regional campuses in San Antonio, El Paso, Dallas, Brownsville, and Austin.

The Texas Medical Center (TMC) Library is a health sciences library located in the Texas Medical Center (TMC) in Houston, TX. The TMC Library is the only major medical and scientific library serving the entire 1,345 sq. acre Texas Medical Center (TMC) campus and its non-profit institutions. It offers librarian services, and provides biomedical information for education and research activities to take place, and study space for students for these schools to help maintain their accreditation. Additionally, for the past twenty-five years, the TMC Library has been the home site for the National Network of Libraries of Medicine – South Central Region (NN/LM SCR). Through a competitive bid process, the TMC Library has secured the contract from the National Library of Medicine, under the National Institutes of Health.
