Manito Golf and Country Club is a country club in the northwest United States, located in Spokane, Washington. The club was founded in 1917 at Hart Field by a small group of dedicated golf enthusiasts and moved to its current location in the Comstock neighborhood in 1922. It was known as Manito Golf Club until 1935.Its golf course hosted the PGA Championship in 1944, then match play, in which Bob Hamilton upset favored Byron Nelson in the final. The course was designed by A.V. Macan, and was set at 6,330 yards (5,788 m) in late 1921. The back tees are now at 6,470 yards (5,916 m) at par 71, with a course rating of 70.8 and a slope rating of 134.The elevation at the clubhouse is approximately 2,380 feet (725 m) above sea level.

Spokane County is a county located in the U.S. state of Washington. As of the 2020 census, its population was 539,339, making it the fourth-most populous county in Washington. The largest city and county seat is Spokane, the second largest city in the state after Seattle. The county is named after the Spokane tribe. Spokane County is part of the Spokane-Spokane Valley metropolitan statistical area, which is also part of the greater Spokane-Coeur d'Alene combined statistical area that includes nearby Kootenai County, Idaho.

Spokane College was the name of two colleges in Spokane, Washington. The first operated from 1882 to 1891, and the second operated from 1906 to 1929.The first Spokane College operated from October 1882 to October 1891 on 157 acres just north of the Spokane River. It was founded by Colonel David Jenkins, a Civil War veteran, who later founded Jenkins College in December 1891. When it opened, tuition at Spokane College was $15. Enrollment peaked at 200 students in 1890, but Spokane College couldn't compete with other nearby institutions: Gonzaga University, the Washington Agricultural College and School of Science (now Washington State University), and the State Normal School (now Eastern Washington University).The second Spokane College was founded in 1906 by the United Norwegian Lutheran Church of America on Spokane's South Hill, and operated until 1929. The four-year liberal arts college also operated a law school. The college closed in 1929 when it was merged into Pacific Lutheran College (now Pacific Lutheran University). Spokane Junior College operated on the site from 1935 to 1942. Spokane Junior College was a reorganization of Spokane University, which operated in the Spokane Valley from 1913 to 1933. The junior college closed in 1942 when it merged with Whitworth College (now Whitworth University).During World War II, the building was used as housing for soldiers stationed at Fort George Wright. The building was turned into apartments after the war, and was torn down in 1969 to make way for the Manito Shopping Center, which presently occupies the site.

Spokane Junior College was a two-year college that operated from 1935 to 1942 on the South Hill of Spokane, Washington. Originally known as Spokane Valley Junior College, it was a reorganization of Spokane University, which was located in the Spokane Valley.Spokane Junior College leased the buildings formerly used by Spokane College from the Norwegian Lutheran Church of America. Facing decreased enrollment and increased operations costs during World War II, the college shut down in 1942 and merged with Whitworth College (now Whitworth University). The building was torn down in 1969 to make way for the Manito Shopping Center, which presently occupies the site.

KXLX (700 AM) is a radio station licensed to Airway Heights, Washington and broadcasting to the Spokane area. The Morgan Murphy Media station broadcasts at 10 kW day and 600 watts at night. KXLX is an affiliate of ESPN Radio and is also the home station of the Eastern Washington Eagles football team.

KXLY (920 kHz) is a commercial AM radio station in Spokane, Washington. It broadcasts a news/talk radio format with the branding "920 News Now". The station is owned by QueenB Radio, with its license held by Morgan Murphy Media, and its studios and offices are on West Boone Avenue in Spokane. KXLY uses a non-directional antenna, from a transmitter site off South Regal Street in Spokane. By day, it operates with a power of 20,000 watts, which is reduced to 5,000 watts at night to protect other stations on 920 AM from interference. Programming is also carried on 250-watt FM translator K264CH at 100.7 MHz.

Comstock is a neighborhood in Spokane, Washington. It is located on the south side of the city in a broader area commonly known as the South Hill. The neighborhood is primarily single-family residential, and a mix of homes built during the streetcar era and then built during the post-World War II housing boom. The neighborhood is also home to a few commercial districts, including the regionally important Manito Shopping Center, two schools, the eponymous Comstock Park, sports fields and a golf course.

Rockwood is a neighborhood in Spokane, Washington. It is located on the south side of the city to the southeast of Downtown Spokane and expanding southeasterly from close to the city center. Its proximity to downtown makes it one of Spokane's older neighborhoods, with mature trees lining most of its streets. Due to its location on the hill leading up from the Spokane River Valley, the street grid breaks down in many places around Rockwood. The most notable of these is along the winding Rockwood Boulevard, which bends its way from the northwesternmost corner of the neighborhood through the center and across to the eastern border. It is one of the more affluent neighborhoods in the Spokane community. Many old, large homes are located in Rockwood, and unlike many of the other old neighborhoods surrounding the Spokane city center, the vast majority of the large homes in Rockwood continue to serve as single-family housing.

Southgate is a neighborhood in Spokane, Washington. It is located in the southwestern corner of the City of Spokane and part of the broader area known locally as the South Hill. Southgate is one of the newer neighborhoods in the city, with development first taking hold in the post-World War II housing boom and continuing into the present day. It is a mix of single-family residential, multi-family residential and commercial districts. The neighborhood has grown as Spokane has expanded southward, with multiple annexations expanding Southgate and the city since 2000 and as recently as 2016.

The Rockwood Historic District is a historic residential area in the Rockwood neighborhood on the south side of Spokane, Washington. The district was listed on the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) in 1997 due to the concentration of historic homes within the district as well as its significance in the areas of architecture, landscape architecture, and community planning and development. The district, which at the time of its listing on the NRHP contained 297 contributing buildings along with 71 non-contributing buildings, stretches from roughly 10th Avenue in the north to 29th Avenue in the south, following Rockwood Boulevard and Garfield Road and extending approximately one block on either side of those two streets. Multiple architects were responsible for the design and construction of the numerous historic homes in the district, which reflect the Tudor Revival and Classical Revival styles as well as many other residential designs common to the first half of the 20th century. From 14th Avenue south, the Olmsted Brothers were responsible for the landscape design which incorporates curving streets, boulevards and parkways which contrast with the surrounding street grid.

KYOZ (1330 kHz) is a commercial AM radio station in Spokane, Washington, owned by Tom Hodgins and Christopher Jacky, through licensee Xana Oregon, LLC. It airs a Regional Mexican radio format, known as "Ke Buena 95.7." KYOZ has a daytime power of 5,000 watts. But to protect other stations on AM 1330, it drastically drops its nighttime power to 23 watts. It uses a non-directional antenna at all times. The transmitter is on East 42nd Avenue near Regal Avenue in Spokane.Listeners can hear KYOZ around the clock on FM translator K239CL at 95.7 MHz, powered at 210 watts. On October 29, 2021, KYJJ (94.1), licensed to Boardman, Oregon and serving the Tri-Cities, went on the air as a brand-new license won months earlier as a part of the FCC's Auction 109, simulcasting KYOZ.

Joel E. Ferris High School (also known as Ferris High School) is a four-year public high school in Spokane, Washington, part of Spokane Public Schools. In southeast Spokane's Southgate neighborhood, it was built at a cost of $3,235,861 and opened on September 3, 1963. The school was named in 1961 for Joel E. Ferris (1874–1960), a banker and civic leader in Spokane. Joel Ferris was a member of the Spokane Park Board, Spokane Finch Arboretum Committee, and a number of educational boards and historical societies in eastern Washington.The school colors are scarlet and silver and the mascot is a Saxon. The school is also the location of the studios of KSPS-TV, a PBS member station owned by the school board, which serves eastern Washington and surrounding states, as well as enjoying significant viewership in the province of Alberta, Canada.Beginning in 2005, the school underwent a major redevelopment, designed by NAC Architecture, with nearly the entire campus having been rebuilt. The project took most out of the school district's 320 million dollar project for all schools.
