Jericho is a district of Bury, Greater Manchester, England. It is thought that the area of Jericho was so named when the reverend John Wesley preached there in 1778 along with his pilgrimage through Bircle.

The historic parish of Bircle, near Bury, England, was created on 1 July 1846, although the village of Bircle (now known as Birtle) has existed for many centuries. It is believed that 'Bircle' is a shortening of the phrase 'Birch Hill', as it was suggested that there were birch trees in the parish. Names such as "Cleggs Wood", "Simpson Clough" and "Dobb Wood" appear on early Ordnance Survey maps. "Hill' appeared in the fourteenth century in the name of 'Birkhill' but it never found a permanent place. Over time its name has also appeared as Brithull, 1243; Birlcil, 1246; Birkhill, 1334, 1573; but Bircle appears in the Diocese of Manchester directory in England. Bircle Church is on Castle Hill Road.

Heap was a district of Bury, England until it was abolished in 1894 to become parts of the parishes of Heywood, Bury, Bircle and Unsworth.The district of Heap in the county of Lancashire was created in 1837 and abolished in 1894 to become parts of the parishes of Heywood, Bury, Birtle cum Bamford, and Unsworth.

Heywood Community High School was a secondary school in the Heywood district of the Metropolitan Borough of Rochdale in Greater Manchester, United Kingdom. The school closed 30 June 2010 to students but officially closed on 31 August 2010.

Darnhill (or Darn Hill as recorded by the Ordnance Survey) is an area of Heywood, a town within the Metropolitan Borough of Rochdale, in Greater Manchester, England. In the 20th century, Darnhill was chosen as the location for a planned overspill housing estate for Manchester, to allievate quality housing shortages in that city. The Darnhill council estate is no longer overseen by Manchester City Council, but by the Guinness Trust Housing Association.

Birtle is a hamlet within the Metropolitan Borough of Rochdale, in Greater Manchester, England. It lies in the Cheesden Valley, set amongst the Pennines. Historically a part of Lancashire, Birtle is archaically referred to as Bircle or Birkle, which means Birch Hill. Together with neighbouring Bamford, it formed the civil parish of Birtle-with-Bamford (also known as Birtle-cum-Bamford). It was in Middleton ecclesiastical parish and in Bury poor law Union. In 1933, Birtle-with-Bamford was dissolved with Birtle being amalgamated into the Municipal Borough of Heywood.The local church is Bircle Church, St. John the Baptist, Castle Hill Road, Bircle, Bury. In addition to the graveyard and garden of remembrance, the Church land includes an area now known as 'Bircle Church Wood', which was gifted by the Reverend Trend Smith.

The Cheesden Valley is a valley in the Heywood area of Greater Manchester, England. It runs on a north–south alignment between Bury and Rochdale in the Metropolitan Borough of Rochdale. Cheesden Brook runs through the valley, joining with Naden Brook to eventually run into the River Roch near Heywood. During the industrial age the valley became a centre of cotton production dependent on running water. The valley is now a conservation area.

St Paul's Church is in Church Street, Bury, Greater Manchester, England. A former Anglican parish church, it is now redundant and, following fire damage, has been converted into residential use. The former church is recorded in the National Heritage List for England as a designated Grade II listed building.

Tack Lee Brook is a watercourse in Greater Manchester and a tributary of the River Roch. Birtle Brook is one of its tributaries.

Clarence Park is a Green Flag awarded public park located in Bury, Greater Manchester. It is the largest urban park in the borough, and was opened to the public in 1888. The park's facilities include a bandstand, a skate park, tennis courts, a children's play area, a skate park, bowling green, a football pitch and a café. A lido with parking facilities offers angling opportunities and is home to a model boat club. Originally a reservoir, it was opened to the public in 1963.

Pilsworth is an area in the Metropolitan Borough of Bury, Greater Manchester, England. Historically, it was a township, but in 1894 it was divided between Bury, Heywood, and Unsworth.It was formerly home to a retail and leisure complex called Park 66, consisting of a cinema, a ten-pin bowling alley, an Asda superstore and a selection of food outlets including Pizza Hut, McDonald's, Frankie & Benny's and Chiquito. Following the closure of the cinema most of the other retail and leisure venues followed suit with only Asda and McDonald's remaining. In June 2016 work started on a multi-million pound re-development. This will see Home Bargains, The Food Warehouse, Costa Coffee and KFC open their doors for trading in 2019. A further 8,790 sq ft of retail space will also be made available in unit sizes from 1,250 sq ft. The work is being carried out by Sladen Estates and Peveril Securities.
