Hillsboro Gap

Hillsboro is a rural town in Loudoun County, Virginia, United States. The population was 80 at the 2010 census and an estimated 169 as of 2019.

The Hillsboro Historic District in Hillsboro, Virginia is a historic district that was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1979. In 1979 it included 40 contributing buildings over its 60-acre (24 ha) area. Hillsboro was established as "The Gap", but in 1802 the town became Hillsborough. In 1880 the present spelling began to be used. Hillsboro is laid out in a roughly linear fashion along Virginia State Route 9 (or Charles Town Pike, as it is used in home addresses in Hillsboro), with lots in the historic district characteristically deep and relatively narrow. The pre-1835 houses in the district are characterized by two-story stone construction with gable roofs. Few new houses were built until the late 19th century, when Victorian houses were built, some with Eastlake detailing.The Hillsboro Historic District was placed on the National Register of Historic Places on May 7, 1979.

Wheatland is an unincorporated community in Loudoun County, Virginia located north of Purcellville and south of Lovettsville on Berlin Turnpike (VA 287). Originally located at the intersection of Berlin Turnpike and the Charles Town Pike (State Route 9), the present day road bed of Charles Town Pike lies south of its historical right of way so the village is just north of that intersection.

William Virts House, also known as the Uriah Beans House, is a historic home located near Waterford, Loudoun County, Virginia. It is a 2+1⁄2-story, three-bay, Federal-style stone dwelling that took this form about 1813. It has a side gable roof and sits on a banked basement built about 1798. Also on the property are the contributing 1+1⁄2-story vernacular stone spring house built about 1813 and frame shed built about 1840.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2011.

The Brown–Koerner House is a historic farm property at 38340 Winsome Trail Lane, in rural Loudoun County, Virginia northeast of Purcellville. The centerpiece of the property is a two-story stone farmhouse built about 1815, along with a period springhouse and retaining wall. It is a fine example of period domestic architecture, and remains relatively isolated despite the loss to development of surrounding land that once formed part of the property.The property was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2016.Susan Catherine Koerner Wright, the mother of aviation pioneers Wilbur and Orville Wright, was born on April 30, 1831, to Catherine and John Koerner, and lived in the house for the first year of her life before it was sold by her family.

The Amos Goodin House is a historic house at 37738 Wright Farm Road, in rural Loudoun County, Virginia northeast of Purcellville. Once the center of a larger landholding, the house is a two-story stone farmhouse built about 1810, with a wooden porch extending across the front. The layout of the house is a rare surviving example of an English "Mora Stuga" plan, with a hall that has a winding stair, and a single large chamber occupying most of the ground floor.The property was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2017.

William Smith House, also known as Jonas Smith House and Boidock House, is a historic home located at Hamilton, Loudoun County, Virginia. It was built about 1813–1820, and is a two-story, three-bay, Federal style brick dwelling. It has a recessed right-side dining and kitchen wing, also in brick, originally 1+1⁄2 stories, now two stories. Also on the property are the contributing brick barn with diamond-patterned ventilation holes (ca 1813), two-story springhouse (c. 1813), a wide loafing shed, a large corncrib, and two-car garage (c. 1948).It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2003.
