Åhus

South Sweden (Swedish: Sydsverige) is a national area (riksområde) of Sweden. The national areas are a part of the NUTS statistical regions of Sweden.

Rinkaby is a locality situated in Kristianstad Municipality, Skåne County, Sweden with 745 inhabitants in 2010. It is close to Lake Hammarsjön and 12 kilometres from Kristianstad. The village has a pre-school and primary school which is housed in a building originating in the 19th century. There is a leisure centre, a football club and some shops. The area has Stone Age remains; the name of the village is probably derived from the word rinkʀ (Old West Norse rekkr), meaning 'man' or 'warrior', and by denotes a settlement in Old Swedish. Rinkaby Church was built in the 13th century and contains medieval murals and an astronomical clock. It is an agricultural community; in the 19th century, the area was famous for growing tobacco, but now specialises in the rearing of Angus cattle.Outside the village is a military training area called Rinkabyfältet which is often used for major Scouting events. A national jamboree called "Scout 2001" had 26,500 participants; the 22nd World Scout Jamboree in July–August 2011 was attended by more than 40,000 Scouts, Leaders and adult volunteers participating, from 143 different countries.

The river Helge or, in Swedish, Helgeån, alternatively Helge å (lit. The Holy river), is a river which flows through Småland and Skåne in southern Sweden. The course of the river takes it through Kristianstad and out to the Bay of Hanöbukten in the Baltic Sea. In the southern parts, there are large wetland areas with a rich bird life. The Kristianstads Vattenrike (The Rich Wetlands of Kristianstad/Water Kingdom) reserve extends along 35km and covers 100,000 hectares in the river's lower course near the city of Kristianstad and the Bay of Hanöbukten. This wetland is recognized as having international importance under the Ramsar Convention. Within the catchment area, there are 14 major lakes and 16 watercourses designated as being of national or regional value. There are also 64 Natura 2000 areas, 14 of which have been established because of their high nature values in the water.

Yngsjö is a locality situated in Kristianstad Municipality, Skåne County, Sweden with 302 inhabitants in 2010. Yngsjö is located on the coast of the Baltic Sea and is famous for its beaches. Yngsjö is also known for the manufacturer Malmberg and for the Yngsjö murder that took place in 1889 and resulted in the last execution of a woman in Sweden. The place also has a small sports club: Yngsjö Idrottsföring (YIF). Nearby is the (very) small lake Yngsjösjön and the bird watching point. Since 1996 there has also been a professional theater group, the Teater Nostra.

Hanö Bay (Swedish: Hanöbukten) is a sandy bay, stretching from Listerlandet in the north to Stenshuvud in the south, on the east coast of Skåne, South Sweden. It is named after Hanö island.

Kristianstad Golf Club is a golf club located in Åhus 18 km southeast of Kristianstad in Skåne County, Sweden. It has hosted the European Ladies Amateur Championship and Kristianstad Ladies Open on the Ladies European Tour.

The Kristianstad Ladies Open is a professional golf tournament on the Ladies European Tour (LET).The tournament is played at Kristianstad Golf Club in Åhus, southern Sweden. It was first played in 1986, before being cancelled in 1987. It featured on the LET Access Series 2012–2014, and was slated to return to the LET schedule in 2020 as the Creekhouse Ladies Open, but the event was postponed to 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Viby is a locality situated in Kristianstad Municipality, Skåne County, Sweden with 991 inhabitants in 2010.

Kristianstad Vattenrike Biosphere Reserve, a protected swamp area in the Hammarsjön Lake, surrounding the town of Kristianstad in Scania, southern Sweden. Sweden's lowest point is located in the reserve at 2.41 metres (7 ft 11 in) below sea level. The point is at the bottom of what was once Nosabyviken, a bay on the lake of Hammarsjön. The bay was drained in the 1860s by John Nun Milner, an engineer, to get more arable land for Kristianstad. Established in 2005, it provides habitat for a large number of endangered species of birds and fish. There are also deposits remaining from the Ice Age, the forests of Hanöbukten Bay and the rich wetlands of the River Helge. The Kristianstad Vattenrike Biosphere Reserve is visited by about 100,000 people every year.

Fjälkinge Church (Swedish: Fjälkinge kyrka) is a medieval church in Fjälkinge, in the province of Skåne, Sweden. Much of the church dates from the 12th century, with additions made later in the Middle Ages. It contains medieval murals which were discovered and restored in 1967. Fjälkinge Church belongs to the Diocese of Lund.
