Mary Channing Wister School, originally the Mary Channing Wister Public School, is a historic school building located in the Poplar neighborhood of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. It was designed by Irwin T. Catharine and built in 1925–1926. It is a three-story, three bay, brick building on a raised basement in the Art Deco-style. An addition was built in 1960. It features a freestanding portico with Doric order columns and decorative tile. It is named for the civic leader Mary Channing Wister, the wife of Owen Wister. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1988.In 2001, the building was renovated to become a new forensic science laboratory for the Philadelphia Police Department. While the facade remains true to the original design with little change, the inside of the building was completely renovated and designated a Green building. The new laboratory is called the Forensic Science Center, operated by the Office of Forensic Science within the Philadelphia Police Department.

Spring Garden School is a public K-8 school in the Poplar neighborhood of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. It is a part of the School District of Philadelphia. The historic school building originally housed Spring Garden School No. 2. It was designed by Irwin T. Catharine and built in 1930–1931. It is a three-story, 16 bay orange brick building in the Art Deco-style. It features corbelled brick pilasters with capitals adorned by floral motifs and a caged rooftop play area.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1986.The Spring Garden attendance boundary includes a portion of the Center City District just north of the traditional boundary of Center City. Residents zoned to Spring Graden are zoned to Benjamin Franklin High School. As of 2016 over 70% of students who graduate from Spring Garden instead go to special admission and magnet schools such as Bodine High School for International Affairs, Carver High School for Science and Engineering, Constitution High School, Parkway High School, and Philadelphia High School for Girls.

It features a limestone entrance surround, a limestone parapet, and decorative tile.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1986. By 2013 the building had been abandoned. As of 2016 the building had old textbooks and graffiti inside. Around that period there was a plan to convert the buildings into apartments for disadvantaged elderly people.Around 2017, the school building reopened as affordable housing for veterans.

Spring Garden Street station was a train station in the Poplar neighborhood of Philadelphia. It was built by the Reading Railroad and located on the Reading Viaduct. Service to Spring Garden Street ended in 1984 with the opening of the Center City Commuter Connection, which bypassed the Reading Terminal, and the building was demolished in 2021.

Union Transfer is a music venue in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Located at 1026 Spring Garden Street in the Callowhill neighborhood, it opened on September 21, 2011, as a joint venture between The Bowery Presents, a New York City production company now owned by AEG Live; and R5 Productions, an independent Philadelphia production company. Its 1889 building retains signage for its original tenant, the Spring Garden Farmer's Market. From 1918 to 1942, the building housed the Union Transfer Baggage Express Co., storing bags and other items for the railway company; later, it housed a tire shop, a trust company, and a Spaghetti Warehouse restaurant. Union Transfer primarily hosts indie rock acts, but also folk, electronic dance music, hip hop and punk. Acts that have played there include Mischief Brew, M83, Diplo, Frank Ocean, The Murder City Devils, Cold War Kids, Jim James, Dinosaur Jr, The Tallest Man on Earth, Best Coast, and Cock Sparrer. Union Transfer carries beer from Yards Brewing Company and other local products. The coat check is named for Japanese Breakfast's Michelle Zauner, who worked there in the 2010s.

Guild House is a residential building in Philadelphia which is an important and influential work of 20th-century architecture and was the first major work by Robert Venturi. Along with the Vanna Venturi House it is considered to be one of the earliest expressions of Postmodern architecture, and helped establish Venturi as one of the leading architects of the 20th century.The building, which houses apartments for low-income senior citizens, was commissioned by a local Quaker organization, Friends Rehabilitation Program, Inc. and completed in 1963. Employing a combination of nondescript commercial architecture and ironic historical references, Guild House represented a conscious rejection of Modernist ideals and was widely cited in the subsequent development of the Postmodern movement.

It was built in 1902, and an addition was built in 1912. The two-story building is in a German baroque style and has a limestone base with Pompeiian brick and flat stone arches.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1982.

Philadelphia Wholesale Drug Company Building is a historic warehouse building located in the Callowhill neighborhood of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. It was built in 1927, and is a seven-story, seven bay by five bay, reinforced concrete building with brick and cast stone facing. It measures approximately 190 feet by 112 feet. It was built by the Philadelphia Wholesale Drug Company Building, one of the first druggist cooperatives in the United States.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1990.

The Edgar Allan Poe National Historic Site is a preserved home once rented by American author Edgar Allan Poe, located at 532 N. 7th Street, in the Spring Garden neighborhood of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Though Poe lived in many houses over several years in Philadelphia (1838 to 1844), it is the only one which still survives. It was designated a National Historic Landmark in 1962.

The German Society of Pennsylvania, located in the Northern Liberties neighborhood of Philadelphia, is the oldest German-culture organization in the United States. Founded in 1764, to aid German immigrants, including those who arrived as indentured servants, it now promotes the teaching of the German language and culture, sponsors lectures, concerts and films, and awards scholarships. Its Joseph P. Horner Memorial Library is the largest private German-language library outside of Germany. The Library was founded in 1817 and throughout its history collected a wide variety of literature and periodicals to serve the reading interests of German Society members; it continues to operate as a lending library today, with a focus on fiction, biography, and children's books in German. In 1867, under the leadership of Oswald Seidensticker, an archive was established, with the aim of documenting German-American history and culture, and that remains the primary mission of the Library today. Among the holdings are many early products of the German-American press, including a 1743 Christoph Sauer Bible, the first European-language Bible printed in North America. As a research institution, the Horner Library is also known for its pamphlet and manuscript collections related to German-American organizations and individuals, and its holdings of 19th-century popular German works that have become rare.Since 1888, the Society has been located at 611 Spring Garden Street in Philadelphia. Many of the city's German-culture public artworks were commissioned by the organization, including the statue of Peter Muhlenberg that now stands behind the Philadelphia Museum of Art, and the monument honoring Francis Daniel Pastorius and the first German settlers, in Vernon Park, Germantown.
