Delaware Valley Classical School is a private, K-12 classical Christian school located in New Castle, Delaware. For the 2023–24 academic year, enrollment was approximately 190 students, with approximately 30 faculty and staff.

William Penn High School, also known as William Penn or simply Penn, is a four-year comprehensive, coeducational public high school located in unincorporated New Castle County, Delaware, United States. Penn Farm of the Trustees of the New Castle Common also known as Penn Farm and Farm No. 7, is a historic farm complex located near New Castle, New Castle County, Delaware. The complex includes a farmhouse, bank barn, granary, milk house, carriage shed, tenant shack, garage, chicken house, and vegetable stand. The farmhouse was built about 1804, and consists of a two-story, three-bay brick section; a two-story, four-bay frame section; and a one-story frame shed.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1997.The Penn Farm Trail is a part of the East Coast Greenway.

Stonum, also called Stoneham, is a historic house at 900 Washington Avenue in New Castle, Delaware. Its main section built about 1750, it was the country home of George Read (1733-1798), a signer of the Declaration of Independence. His advocacy enabled Delaware to become the first state ratifying the declaration. The house was declared a National Historic Landmark in 1973. It is the only building standing associated with this Founding Father.

Army Creek is a 4-mile (6.4 km) long river in northern Delaware in the United States that drains about 10 square miles (26 km2). The stream is controlled by a floodgate just downstream of DE 9 that does not allow tidal influence of the stream.The source of Army Creek is near the eastern edge of Bear, Delaware in the south and New Castle County Airport in the north. The water then flows ENE to the Delaware River about 1 mile (1.6 km) SW of New Castle, Delaware, at Dobbinsville. Most of the watershed is urban/residential. The watershed is the scene of two Superfund sites owing to the urban/industrial history.

The Pratt Student Center opened in 2013 after a remodeling of the Pratt Gymnasium. The Pratt Gymnasium was a 600-seat multi-purpose arena in New Castle, Delaware, on the campus of Wilmington University. It was home to the Wilmington University Wildcats and formerly the home of the Delaware Stars, a basketball team in the USBL.

Lesley-Travers Mansion, also known as the Deemer House, Travers House, and Lesley House, is a historic home located at New Castle, New Castle County, Delaware. It was designed by noted Baltimore architects Thomas and James Dixon and built in 1855. It has a two-story, five-bay, brick core with several appendages and wings. It has a castle-like appearance, with a slate-covered steeply pitched gable roof and five-story tower, and is in the Gothic Revival style.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1973.

The Hermitage was a historic home located at New Castle, New Castle County, Delaware. It was built between about 1700 and 1818, and consisted of three brick sections. The oldest section was the 2+1⁄2-story west wing. There was a two-story, rear kitchen wing, with servant's quarters above. The main section was built in 1818, and was a two-story, three-bay structure. It was built by U.S. Senator Nicholas Van Dyke (1770–1826) as a farm and summer retreat for his family.The house was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1973.The Hermitage was heavily damaged by fire between 5:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m. on February 18, 2007, in an act of arson. Following the fire, the two oldest sections of the house were completely destroyed, with only the walls left standing. The newer section (circa 1810) of the house was relatively intact, including a marble fireplace in the front, and a carved and gesso mantle and woodwork in the rear. Declared a safety hazard by the city of New Castle, the remains of the Hermitage were torn down in 2009. Nothing was salvaged.
